Chapter 13 New Home
“Ana, you mean this is our’s” Nala asked again.
Ana nodded.
Nala hugged her sister and wept “Thank you Ana, thank you for winning that lottery”
Ana smiled and nodded.
Her parents hugged her, thanking her for the house gift. Their daughter had changed their life.
Ana showed them their rooms and they loved it. Who would have thought they will ver leave in a place like this.
This was the first time she was seeing the interior design that was done. The decorators sure did a good job.
Tears rolled down Ana’s eyes as she watched her parents and sister's happy face. She had ordered food and they had a fest that night. She wasn’t done, she also spent the next day shopping for clothes for them.
She doesn’t want them to wear their old clothes anymore.
“You must think about your education Ana, you can’t keep spending on us like this. Won’t the money finish quickly?” Jose said and her mother agreed too.
They wanted her to think more about her future instead of spending the money she got on the lottery on them.
Ana smiled “Don’t worry, the house was just 400k and the clothes I’m buying are cheap , they're not that expensive. You don't have to worry, we still have a lot of money for my education and also for Nala's. Nala will go to the university now, I will make sure of that”
Jose and his wife looked at each other “No Ana, we should be responsible for Nala's schooling not you” Griselda said.
“She is my younger sister, I have the right to do so” Ana said with no room for argument.
Jose and his wife sighed
Ana had also gone ahead to register for law school now that she has the money to do so.
The two days she spent with her parents were the best in so many years.
She felt sad she had to leave them and return back. She had stayed a few more hours with them on that day she was meant to return.
On her way to Fernando’s house, the rain started pouring heavily and this caused traffic on the road.
She had stayed in the traffic for two house
“I’m sorry miss but I can not go further” The Taxi driver suddenly said.
“What did you say?” Ana was surprised.
“Yes, I just got information that this road will be blocked for hours since there is a construction going on ahead, I can’t continue the trip, you have to get down”
“You can’t do this, how do you expect me to get to my destination?” Ana said to him.
“I’m sorry Miss”
Ana contemplates going back with the taxi driver, but she can not do that. She had spent more than 48 given to her, if she is to spend more hours who knows what that cold man will do.
“I will double the money, please just take me to my destination” she pleaded.
“I’m sorry ma’am I can’t”
Ana sighed, she paid him and got down.
The rain was still pouring as she walked on the sidewalk with her bag covering her head.
She stayed under a tree and dialed Paula’s number. Which she picked at the second ring.
“Ana, why aren’t you here? it’s 11pm”
Ana could sense the worry in Paula’s voice
“I was stucked in traffic, but there is a problem”
“What happened?” Paula asked in worry.
Fernando looked at Paula who was making the call close to him.
“My taxi driver said he could not continue the ride, now I’m standing in the road and it’s still raining”
“Text me where you are I will get a driver to pick you up”
“Okay” Ana ended the call and did as she said. She stood there waiting for the driver to come.
15 minutes later and the car she recognized to be one of Fernando’s stopped in front of her. She sighed in relief.
She wanted to open the back seat but the front glass rose down and sitting in the driver's seat was Fernando.
Ana was surprised, wasn’t he still on a business trip. When did he return?
“Get in the front,” he said coldly.
Ana got into the passenger seat and he zoomed off.
She looked at him and could not read his expression. “I did not know you were, Mr Buenavista”
“Is that why you spent more time with your parents than I asked you to? You were supposed to return earlier today”
“Yes I apologize, I had to go register for my law school today. Today is the last day of registration before the new section starts”
“Why did you not inform me about that before now? Do you know what is going to happen if anyone that knows Silvia sees you? This goes against our agreement” Fernando said in anger.
Ana clenched her fist, is he indirectly telling her she can not attend law school “I can’t skip law school I need to achieve my dreams of being a lawyer”
“I never said you can’t be a lawyer, damit!”
Ana could clearly see he was pissed
“You can just attend law school next year, must you attend law school this year?” Fernando looked at her for an answer.
“Ana swallowed “Yes, I promise it won’t get in the way of anything. I will just remove my eye contact and put on a wig and I doubt someone who knows Silvia will be at the prestigious law school. Silvia didn’t study law, she isn’t even through with school yet”
Ana had registered in a prestigious law school, she had graduated from a prestigious university through scholarship and hard work. If she wants a good law firm to scout her, she needs to attend a prestigious law school too.
Fernando clenched his fist.
Ana was waiting for him to say something but he said nothing even when they got home.
“Ana you are finally here” Paula went to her looking worried.
“Hello Paula”
“I was so worried”
“I’m fine now” Ana looked towards Fernando who took the elevator upstairs.
She looked back at Paula “Why did you not tell me he is back from the business trip. I would have returned more earlier”
“Cause I did not know, he suddenly came and asked for you. I had to tell him you were not here yet and he got mad”
Ana nodded in understanding “But why did the driver not come pick me up, why did he come himself?”
“He was close by when you called and said you were stranded. I had wanted to ask the driver to go pick you up. But he just rush out and left with the car instead”
“Oh” Ana was surprised “Why would he do that?”
