Chapter 90 Truth At Gunpoint
The echo of the gunshot reverberated through the playhouse, freezing Rowan in his tracks. "What the hell just happened?" He exclaimed.
Panic gripped him as he rushed into the building, searching for the source of the sound.
Inside the house, Wills, clutching his neck where the bullet had struck him, staggered backwards. The air was thick with tension as Amanda, now freed from her restraints, watched in horror.
"Why! Why! Why!" Wilson exclaimed, pacing the room. "Why do you keep making me kill? This has nothing to do with you but you came in here to disrupt my mission. Now there are more dead bodies in my head."
Amanda ran toward Wills, ignoring Wilson's display. "Wills! Look at me. Please hang on. She pressed his neck with her hand too, trying to stop the bleeding.
"Wilson, we need to get out of here now. The police will be here any minute. Finish Amanda now and let's put an end to all of this." Aniya pleaded, panicking.
"That is not happening." Rowan said entering the room. Wilson turned to him immediately, his gun pointed to Rowan.
When Rowan realized what had happened in the room. Fear caught up with him. "Wilson, what have you done?" His voice boomed, a mixture of fury and concern. He made to help Wills on the ground, fighting for his life but Wilson stopped him.
"Stay where you are or I will be forced to pull the trigger." Wilson yelled.
"You won't." Rowan snapped. "I am your brother and you have no reason to shoot me."
Wilson smirked. "Don't dare me brother I have every reason to"
Rowan, fueled by a surge of protective anger, moved towards Wilson but he couldn't go further because he pulled the trigger but this time, the bullet went into the air.
"Next time you move an inch, my target would be your heart." Wilson threatened.
"You've crossed the line, brother. This madness ends now." Rowan said, recovering from the threat. "The police will be here in a few minutes, there is no way you are getting away with this. Please stop now that I can still help you."
"Help?" Wilson exclaimed, laughing uncontrollably. "You think I would believe any word that comes out of your mouth when I can just kill you, Amanda and Aniya, and I will get away with it before the police gets here."
"You will kill me?" Aniya exclaimed.
"Shut up woman." Wilson yelled. You are doing this because you want validation from a man who wouldn't even care if I pull the trigger on your fucking brain right now. Yet you call me dumb. Who is the actual dumbass? He laughed again.
"You are throwing your entire life away for this?" He pointed to Rowan with contempt.
Rowan sighed. "Please Wilson. It is not out of hand yet. Don't be a murderer. Let us help Wills to the hospital. I promise I will keep you from jail." He pleaded.
"Too late!" Wilson exclaimed. "I already killed one and that man, " he pointed to Wills" won't survive another minute. So you are late. You can't save me now because you couldn't save me then."
"I can" Rowan tried to persuade him.
"Shut up" Wilson yelled. "You were supposed to be my brother and my keeper. But you were the first to call me dumb. You neglected me. Treated me like a retard and when I ran away, protesting, you didn't look for me, brother. You watched me destroy my life, everything I believed in"
"Fine! I did all of that" Rowan snapped in protest. "I neglected you, wasn't a good brother to you and…everything you said. I am guilty as charged but tell me, who are you punishing Amanda? What has she done to you to deserve this? I hurt you. You should hurt me, not her."
"She left me" Wilson yelled and Amanda scoffed in pain and anger.
"So this is your revenge?" Rowan asked.
"No..no…this is for Mabel. She killed Mabel because she was trying to help me." Wilson proclaimed.
Amanda couldn't control her anger anymore. She stood up and charged towards Wilson. "Stay away!" "Amanda!" Wilson and Rowan yelled.
"Pull the trigger. Shoot me! Kill me now! If that will make you stop this madness, do it now. But I swear, it won't be because of Mabel. Because I didn't kill her." Amanda yelled.
"You pushed her down that building." Wilson accused.
"I didn't. I swear." Amanda prostested. "It was an accident that I couldn't do anything to stop." Amanda sighed and continued.
"Why would I kill Mabel when she was the only one that knew the father of my children. I needed her to tell me. I would never have killed her." She exclaimed.
Shocked, Rowan asked, "you don't know the father of your kids?"
"How could she? When she was sleeping with every big client that walks into her hotel" Wilson remarked.
"Is that what Mabel told you?" Amanda asked in frustration. "I wasn't sleeping around, I was raped. He dragged me into the room before I could even see his face and I was drunk and depressed…" Amanda paused to control her tears.
"Wait…where did this happen? Rowan asked, his heart beating very fast.
"At the hotel I used to work at Victoria's court. I was told he was a big client and I cleaned the room but I forgot something in the room. When I went to pick it up, he dragged me in and raped me."
"When I woke up he was nowhere to be found. I couldn't trace him as he left nothing but his watch."
Amanda turned to Rowan, do you remember the watch you showed me in your room? It was the exact kind of watch." He turned back to Wilson, but Mabel stole it from me. She lied to me that the watch was worthless and she disappeared with it."
"And then I started seeing her extravagant lifestyle on social media which made me believe she funded it with the watch she stole from me." Amanda added.
"So that was how you two fell out" Wilson said softly, reality hitting him.
"And you got pregnant from that night?" Rowan asked softly. Amanda nodded, wiping her tears.
"And that was also why you left Wilson, right" Rowan added to his question.
"No..no. I left Wilson before that because he was a lying, cheating bastard." Amanda snapped, her anger suddenly coming back into display. "Pregnancy or not, we were not going to work."
"But I begged you." Wilson exclaimed.
"Begged? You call that begging?" Amanda yelled. "That was manipulation, gaslighting, blackmailing, threats." Amanda scoffed, "should I continue to name everything that you did to me?"
Unknown to them, the police and Rowan's team had arrived and had surrounded the house while they were having the heated conversation. They had moved in quietly without disrupting their conversation.
"I was a piece of shit. I needed you to understand and stay with me. Be patient with me." Wilson cried out, frustrated.
"You are still a piece of shit and you will never recover from it." Amanda snapped. "All you are good at doing is blaming people for how bad your life has turned. It is your fault and you need to own up to it"
"Don't tell me what to do," Wilson yelled.
"Police! Drop that gun and put your hands where I can see them" a police officer shouted, pointing his gun to Wilson.
"Why should I do that?" Wilson said, seemingly unfazed by the unfolding drama.
"I won't hesitate to pull the trigger" Another officer answered behind him. He pointed the gun from the window.
