“What do you mean that the king has been invited?” Rhiannon asked with a frown as she couldn’t understand what was really going on.
“Yes, he is on the list,” Fred said causing Rhiannon’s frown to deepen.
“The king cannot make it that’s for sure as he lives a thousand kilometers from here. Telling him to come depart today so that he can make it to the party will seem as if we do not understand,” Rhiannon said as she massaged her temple.
If she was asked, she would not send the card to the royal palace as it would sound disrespectful to the royal family inviting them a day before the party. That family wasn’t like the families in the capital that needed to show respect to the Rodrigues and Andersons and had to come.
On the other side, she knew that she didn’t have a say in all these as although she was in charge of everything, she didn’t have the right to determine whom she should send the invitation and whom not to.
“If we send the card right now, it will only arrive two days later. By that time, the party would be over and it would make the Rodrigues look bad in the king’s family.
“You have the king's number or email?” Rhiannon asked as he looked at both Fed and Clare.
“Why?” Fred asked as he didn’t understand what she was trying to do.
“We can just send the invitation card through an email then call and tell them to check their emails so that they can see it in case they aren’t working and fail to check on the emails they receive today,” Rhiannon said causing both Fred and Clare to nod in understanding.
“I only have one of the princes’ contacts and not the king. The king rarely gets out of the palace. Most of the time he sent his sons to where is he supposed to be or his wife,” Fred said as he had once heard of the man who was known for being married but at the same time the loneliest of all men in the world.
“Maybe we can contact that prince and tell him what we want and he might be of great help to us,” Rhiannon said making the two nod their head as they felt it was a great idea.
Fred took out his phone, unlocked it, and started scrolling down his contacts.
“Here it is. It's Prince Clinton,” Fred said as he handed Rhiannon his phone who took it and stared at the numbers and frowned.
She didn’t know where but she felt that he was supposed to know those numbers She shook her head as she felt that she was overthinking and that everything was alright.
She dialed the number and it rang without being picked. She called once more as she wasn’t ready to give up.
“Hello. Who is this?” a deep cold voice sounded on the other side immediately after the call was connected.
“Hello. My name is Rhiannon Rodrigues and I am sorry to disturb you, your highness,” Rhiannon said and the man’s frows on the other side rose but he calmed down a little bit as he knew that the people with the surname Rodrigues all his father’s friends.
“How may I help you Miss Rodrigues?” he asked a lot Be calm but he was at the same time cold.
“Your Highness, it is Mrs. Rodrigues as I am married to the Rodrigues eldest son,” Rhiannon said as she didn’t want him to mistake her identity which might cause problems later on.
“Tomorrow is my mother-in-law’s birthday party. Sadly, the invitation cards are being today, a little too late for his majesty to make it for the party as I have just discovered that he is on the list of esteemed guests,” Rhiannon went directly to the point without waiting for the man to say anything about her identity.
“So you are calling me so that I can tell my father about it as you know that if you were to send the invitation card, it would arrive late?” the prince said in a serious tone.
“Yes my prince,” Rhiannon said as she bit her lower lip to get rid of the nervousness he was feeling.
She thought that since her parents-in-law were friends with the king, they surely had his contact and could have called him but here she was.
What she didn’t know was that the king and the family didn’t have each other contact.
If they needed anything from one another, they would write letters expressing themselves as the Rodrigues had stated that they wanted to put a distance between the king and them.
The prince frowned as he remembered that that family never invited his father for any occasion. Although their father talked about them, there was always a hint of pain and sadness in them as if they brought him bad memories, so how could he allow him to go to the party?
“I am sorry but we can’t attend the party,” the prince said coldly after thinking of all these while Rhiannon panicked.
“Please, I am begging you. This is the first banquet am holding for them and if your father doesn’t come, they will think that I didn’t notify you all,” Rhiannon said forgetting the formalities.
“I will send you my email address and you can send the invitation card there. As for whether Father will come, don’t put your hopes on it so much,” the prince said softly as he even didn’t understand why he panicked when he heard her tone seemed to be in distress.
He automatically became soft and did as she said not to make her angry or cry.
“Thank you so much. Can you please call his majesty and notify him? Although he can’t come personally, maybe he can send off one of his messages as asking for him to travel today and be at the party tomorrow sounds too much as he needs to get rest,” Rhiannon said causing the prince to smile as he had not expected her to be so soft-hearted.
“Okay, I will,” he promised as he felt that it wasn’t a hard thing to do or would it do any damage informing his father.
After hanging up the call, Prince Clinton stared at it for a while as he dialed a familiar number.
“Your father is resting, what do you want to tell him?” his father’s personal servant was the one who picked up the call and asked coldly.
“Greets,” the prince replied while rolling his eyes.
“Who called my phone?” the king asked as he woke up immediately his phone started ringing.
“You woke him up,” the male servant said coldly to the prince.
“My apologies but now that he's awake, can you please give him the phone as I have something urgent to ask him?” Prince Clinton said humbly a contrasting tone to the one he spoke Rhiannon with.
“Your second son, Prince Clinton,” the servant replied to the king.
“Oh, give me the phone then and you can leave,” the king said coldly.
“But your majesty,” the servant said as he didn’t want to leave.
“I said leave! Don’t let me repeat myself once more,” the king said coldly as he looked at the latter as if he could kill him if he continued disobeying him.
“I am sorry Your Majesty. I will leave immediately,” the man said as he handed the kid the phone and then walked towards the door.
After making sure that the door was well-closed and the footsteps had disappeared proving that the man had gone, the king sighed in relief.
“What is it? Did you find her?” the king asked coldly.
“No,” the prince replied in panic and worry.
“Then why are you calling if you don’t have positive feedback for me?” the king asked coldly.
He never got along with his kings but they respected him and listened to everything to everything he told them to do.
“The Rodrigues reached out to me some minutes ago,” the prince said casuing the king to be shocked but at the same time feel excited.
“What did they want?” he asked.
“Tomorrow is Mrs. Amanda Rodrigues's birthday party, they want you to attend. However, you are too far and I don’t think that you should go,” the prince said his tone full of care but the king rolled his eyes.
“Okay. But you should make sure you go on my behalf! I am sure you will get something from that party! Mark my words!”
