Chapter 15: The New Dress

Seraphina’s POV

When Damien kissed me, I thought he was just drunk. But now that he’s asking me to go to Spain with him, I’m starting to think there’s something behind it.

After leaving him in his room with Victoria, I head back to the maids’ quarters. I lie on my bed, staring at the ceiling, lost in thoughts I can’t explain. Then Alex comes to call me, says my attention is needed at Damien’s suite.

I jump out of bed immediately and hurry there. When I push the door open, Damien and Victoria are in the middle of an argument. Her voice is sharp, echoing through the room.

She yells at me to leave, but Damien says, “Come in, and take my luggage to the helicopter outside.”

I freeze. My mind goes blank. Whose order do I follow? Damien’s or Victoria’s?

He’s my master… he literally bought me from La Estancia, not her.

“Seraphina, I order you to do as I say!” he shouts, his tone firm.

I nod quickly and rush toward the luggage. Victoria tries to stop me, but Damien holds her back, pointing his finger at her face.

“I’ve had enough of your nonsense, Victoria,” he snaps as I grab the luggage and head to the door.

He’s still warning her when I pull the door shut behind me.

Nina spots me dragging the luggage and runs to help, grabbing the bigger bag.“Is everything okay?” she asks, breathing hard.

“Damien’s traveling,” I reply simply.

“Wow,” she giggles. “And you’re going to miss him, huh? Maybe that’s why you look sad.”

“Seriously?” I glare at her, but she just laughs harder.

When we reach the helipad, the pilot comes to help us load the bags into the helicopter.

As we turn to leave, Damien walks quickly toward us… Victoria chasing after him. He signals to the pilot, and suddenly the engine roars to life, the blades spinning faster and faster.

Before I can step away, Damien grabs my wrist and pulls me back. “We’re going together!” he shouts over the noise.

There’s no time to argue. He helps me up into the helicopter, fastening my seatbelt himself before securing his own.

Victoria stops halfway to the helipad as we rise into the air, her face pale and furious.

Through the window, I can see her and Nina, tiny figures below… watching us disappear into the sky.

I don’t even realize I’m holding Damien’s hand on the armrest until I glance down.

Embarrassed, I pull away quickly.

He glances at me once, then looks away without a word. His phone rings, but he ignores it. He puts on a headset and hands me another.

The noise of the helicopter fades, replaced by the sound of his breathing in the headset… steady, deep.

I look at him as he scrolls through his phone, his expression calm, unreadable.

The pilot announces that we’re approaching Starling Island’s airfield, where we will board the Harrington Corporation’s private jet to Spain. Damien nods, barely lifting his eyes.

I sigh quietly, leaning back in my seat.

He kissed me, and now he’s taking me to Spain for who knows how long.

A few months ago, I never imagined something like this.

When Sylvia told me she was going to study in Spain, I was happy for her… but it never crossed my mind that I’d end up there too.

Except I’m not going for studies. I’m going because my master wants me there.

…

When we land, we board the private jet and soon we are in the air again. I sit on a small sofa near the entrance while Damien works on his laptop near the inner section of the cabin.

Outside the window, the world gets smaller… buildings shrinking until everything turns into clouds. The sky is wide and endless.

At some point, I fall asleep.

When I wake up, Damien is eating, typing on his laptop between bites. A flight attendant hands me a tray of snacks and a drink. I thank her quietly.

She asks if I want more, and I nod.

Damien glances at me once, then looks away again. He doesn’t say a word.

Hours later, we finally land.

The jet rolls into a hangar, and a black SUV pulls up beside it. We step out and the chauffeur drives us to a hotel.

Everything in the hotel screams luxury… marble floors, chandeliers, gold linings everywhere. People stare at me as we walk through the lobby, and I don’t understand why until I glance down.

I’m still in my maid’s uniform.

What the… fck!

And Damien didn’t even say anything. Maybe he brought me here to serve him as a maid too. Doesn’t he trust the staff here?

We reach our suite. The usher hands Damien the key, but he passes it to me.

The usher leaves.

Damien picks one of the rooms for himself and tells me to shower in the other. I nod and go in, though I want to ask if I will be given something new to wear.

Inside the bathroom, the warm water feels good against my skin. But suddenly, I hear the door open.

I freeze, listening. Footsteps… calm, firm, familiar. Definitely Damien’s.

Then silence. The door closes again.

When I step out, wrapped in a towel, I stop.

There’s a dress laid neatly on my bed. Elegant, silky, with a faint scent of something new.

He must have left it for me.

I hold it up, unsure. Then I put it on.

It fits perfectly, maybe too perfectly. I stare at my reflection in the mirror. My shoulders bare, my cleavage showing more than I’d ever dare.

This kind of dress belongs to people like Victoria, not me.

I’m about to take it off when the door opens again.

Damien walks in.

He’s changed into a new suit… sharp, dark, and perfect. He looks breathtaking.

He freezes when he sees me.

For a moment, his mouth opens slightly, and his eyes travel slowly from my face down to the dress.

“Wow,” he utters.
