(DEVAN'S POV).
"Elliot, come here," I called out to the butler, Elliot, whom I had worked with for quite some time. She was the one who organized everything in this house. The woman who was the same age as my mother approached me with elegant steps.
"Do you need anything, Mr. Harrsion?" she asked.
"Yes. Bring some food to Freya's room. Let me know if she finished her food from last night and this morning. And make sure you lock her room and don't let her out," I ordered.
Elliot looked surprised by what I said.
"And don't tell anybody about any trouble in the house. I'm sure you understand what I mean, Elliot," I warned again.
"Yes, I understand, Mr. Harrison," she answered quickly. Bowing respectfully to me without asking any more questions.
I went to the office without breakfast. No mood, no energy. Arriving at my office, I was immediately handed a stack of documents that I had to check and sign. Meetings before lunch and meetings with colleagues in the afternoon.
"Stefanny, change the meeting with Mr. Bennard to tomorrow afternoon. Make a reservation at a Chinese restaurant for our lunch with him later. Consider it an apology for postponing today's meeting," I ordered. I glanced at Stefanny who was standing in front of me with the tablet she was holding.
"Did something happen today, sir?"
"My head is about to burst because of the too many problems I have. I wanted to go home early for today," I said honestly. I closed the document in front of me. The last document I had to sign for today. I massaged my temples which had been throbbing since this morning.
"Sir, should I get some medicine for you?" Stefanny asked.
I looked at her. "What time is it?" then glanced at the watch on my left wrist.
"Ten thirty, sir."
"All right," I growled, "bring me the medicine and adjourn the meeting to after lunch. I'll take a short nap." I loosened the tie around my neck.
"Yes, sir."
Stefanny walked out of my room and I got up from my chair. I took off my suit and put it on the sofa. I sat with my head resting on the back of the sofa.
My head felt like it was going to explode. I close my eyes to reduce the throbbing pain in my head, but Freya's face pops into my mind. I sigh heavily. She really made me unable to think clearly.
A few minutes later Stefanny returned with a tray containing a glass of water and medicine. I drank it and lay down on the sofa. I hoped the pain would go away when I woke up.
I closed my eyes. My head slowly started to feel light until I wasn't aware of anything. Sleepiness made me sleep soundly.
Until I felt something on top of my body that felt big. I blinked, still half-awake and I faintly saw a woman sitting on top of me.
I gasped in shock as my vision began to clear and I saw Viona smiling broadly sitting on top of me.
"Damn it! What are you doing?!" I tried to sit up, but both of her hands were pressing on my chest. Making me go back to sleep with a moan coming out of my mouth.
"What happened?" she asked casually, as if not caring about our current position. "I heard from Stefanny that you were complaining of dizziness."
"Viona, let me sit down and we can talk."
"Dev, you are the only one who pulled me on top of you. I didn't do anything wrong," she interrupted. Looking at me with an innocent face.
While I stared at him with a furrowed brow. I couldn't believe what he had just said.
"Stop talking nonsense and get out of my way," I snorted. Trying to move Viona's hand away from my chest.
"Okay, okay." She gave up and got off my body. Sitting comfortably beside me while I was trying to straighten my clothes.
I glanced at her sharply. Letting out a long sigh as I forgot my appointment with her today. I should have told Stefanny not to let anyone into my room.
"Are you sick?" she asked with a worried look. Her hand reached out to touch my forehead. "Do you have a fever? But your forehead isn't hot," she murmured.
I moved her hand away from my forehead and replied indifferently. "Just a headache." And she fumed in protest at my cold demeanor.
"Did you invite me to meet you just to be rude to me?"
I ignored her question and went to get a can of soda. Intentionally sitting on the couch opposite to the one she was sitting on. She looked at me with an annoyed face.
"I won't mince words." I downed my drink and looked at her. "Did you do it on purpose?"
"What? On purpose how? I have no idea what you're talking about."
"The building where Freya's Boutique is run. I heard that you bought the building and sold it to a bar businessman," I cut in harshly. My gaze grew colder as I saw her stuttering without being able to answer my words.
"Devー"
"I won't talk and do anything harshly if you admit it," I interrupted again. Giving her a warning look. "And don't try to lie to me."
"Fine!" she exclaimed in exasperation. She crossed her arms over her chest and glared at me angrily. "I did do it. I did it on purpose. Are you satisfied?"
"Why?"
She bit her lip. "Do you still have to ask me why I did it?" her voice trailed off. She was currently embarrassed by the look on her face.
I knew. Know why she did it. But I never accepted this reason either then or now. Pretending to be unaware of her feelings for me.
"Yes. Because I don't know why you are interfering in my wife's business."
"Dev, you're a stupid, heartless bastard!" she yelled at me. She kicked the glass table in front of her so violently that the soda cans and glasses on it toppled over and water spilled on the table and the fur rug.
"Sit down," I ordered.
I calmly watched as her anger boiled over. Staring at me with her hazel eyes flashing in disapproval.
"I love you, Dev! Stop pretending you don't know it!" she shouted. Her eyes glazed over. "I love you... but why... why did you choose her instead? What am I lacking? Am I not good enough for you, Dev?" she sobbed. Her hands were shaking.
I got up from my seat and took her into my arms. Held her tightly and calmed her down.
"Shush... Stop crying. People will think I did something bad to you," I whispered. I stroked her hair. Patted her back rhythmically.
"I love you," her voice was hoarse from crying. She looked up, staring at me with tear-filled eyes. "Can't you just love me, Dev?"
I could feel her hands clutching my shirt. She stood on tiptoe, matching our height, dropping a kiss on my lips.
