Chapter 21: Chapter Twenty-One

Loretta "It's okay mum, Nate won't be mad at you." I comfort my mum after she cracked and told me what she knew.

I was confused as to why he lied to me about being in Dubai, but now that I know why, I am happy. Excited even.

And the thought of there being a possibility of us having children brings a wholesome feeling within me and almost makes me a little giddy for what the future has for both me and Nate.

Through trying on the dresses in my fitting, I couldn't get my mind off the whole thing. Yes, he lied about meeting out in Dubai. But what didn't make sense was the fact that he flew back to London and then back again in the space of 24 hours. Now that doesn't seem right.

Unless he didn't go back, and he was still in London. Then I would have a reason to be mad at him, but I can't make assumptions, can I? Because if I accused him of doing something that turned out to be false, that would put me in a predicament, and would make me look bad.

I had a habit of doing that and ruining things.

After finishing my first appointment trying on dresses, I arrived home in need of a shower because trying all the dresses in that boutique.

As soon as I got home, I jumped in the shower, and I started to make myself some dinner since we were at the dress shop for about five hours which is definitely more than I thought.

The best thing about today had to be that I believe that I found my dress. The dress.

To be honest I tried on about 10 dresses and not one of them was doing me justice.

So, we went out for lunch for about an hour and a half with Mum and the girls. We then came back and tried out this one dress that was just delivered this morning and you know what, I loved it. Just before I could buy it, the ladies there advised that I rest and decide on my next visit.

Trying on so many dresses all in one day can make me tired and therefore make the wrong decision that later I would regret.

I checked the time and realized that I was running late for tonight's event. Sam had messaged me, saying he would be here soon to pick me up, so I had to quickly rush around and get ready.

The event was with a lot of other bloggers who had written their own books as well. I was enjoying my time until Sam said that we needed to go. I had not said anything because I knew that Sam was very popular with this group of people, and I didn't want to embarrass him.

"I am so glad that's over Loretta, what do you think about grabbing something to eat before I take you back home," Sam says this as I'm saying goodbye to the people who made this event happen and even though it is just an hour ago, I'm already hungry.

I followed him out of the door quickly. Even though I made dinner at home I hadn't had the chance to eat much of it.

Sam was pretty good today, he was very helpful in making sure nothing got out of hand, there was an odd lady who you could say was a fanatic of Nate and was not happy that I was the one marrying him.

"So, when does lover boy get back from his trip," Sam says pulling out of the car park to the main road, he went straight into gear quickly before accelerating further onto the main road which will hopefully lead us to anywhere that sells food.

I say that I don't really know he was supposed to be here this morning, but I had no messages, no calls so I'm not really sure what's happening.

"I swear I saw some pictures of him in London the other day. Was it just me or did you see them too?" Sam says peering at me through the rear-view mirror. It was almost like he was happy with it, and it was also like he had a secret. That weird smile of his.

What is it with everyone having secrets these days? Can't anybody tell me anything?

"Yes, I saw that too actually. I did ask him, but he didn't really say anything, so I guess when I see him again, I'll have to ask for sure. Because it was just a bit weird."

I try and divert this conversation and literally just started looking at anything outside whether it's a tree, car, person, child, object anything.

We decided to just go to a drive through and we chose McDonald's. No surprise there. I was in desperate need of some chicken nuggets.

I don't know how we got to the stage but suddenly while Sam was driving, I was feeding him chips from his meal.

I really didn't know what I was doing, but he was hungry. We still wanted to get back, so I did the logical thing, right? There was also this awkward stage where he had crumbs on his mouth, and I had the embarrassing job of grabbing a tissue and wiping it off.

Now if this was Nate, I would enjoy this very much, but since it's not Nate, it feels weird and out of my comfort zone.

"Thanks, Retta. It's kind of hard to eat and drive at same time."

Sam decides to send me a slight wink when he says this and that kind of puts me off a little bit.

When we finally arrived at my house, I couldn't wait to get out. I didn't know why but Sam got out too.

Does he not realize that today is my day off? And it's already getting late.

"Sam I really just want to relax tonight,” I say to him as he rounds the car and walks closer to me. My heart quickens in pace as the look in his eyes and I actually feel scared.

"I know Retta, but you can't tell me right now that you…" his voice gets lower and lower and before I could stop him, he had backed me up against the car with his arms on both sides.

"That I what, Sam?" I whisper, slightly on edge from the close proximity. Sam doesn't stop he carries on advancing towards me and he stops when we only have a few centimeters separating us from each other.

"Loretta, don't tell me that you can't feel this?" as he says this to me, he grabs hold of my hips and pushes himself on me.

My mind becomes blank, and I can hear my heart pumping at how Sam is making me feel. And it's not a good feeling.

I tried pushing him away, but he kept his firm grip on me which meant that I couldn't move him at all.

"You're such a tease princess." Sam brings his lips to my neck and kisses me slightly. I don't even move. I don't want to because I don't know what he would do next.

"Stop! Sam, I have a fiancé, please get off!" I said, pushing at his shoulders to get him off me, but his hold on me was just too strong.

After a while I decide to put my foot down and I did the only logical thing. I bit him. Sam withdrew from me quickly and practically growled.

"You bitch,” his eyes become angry, and he glares straight at me. I had a feeling he was going to do something like hurt me, but a hand came flying between our bodies and Sam was pulled away immediately and quite roughly might I add.

I opened my eyes and found Daniel. I really didn't expect him to be here I mean I did have a little bit of hope that Nate may have been the one but unfortunately, he can't be everywhere. I should have told him about Sam. Why didn't I?

"Dan what the hell are you doing here?" I say, shocked as I witness Sam lying on the ground, knocked out cold.

He doesn't seem to be moving but I can see his chest rising and falling gradually.

Well at least Daniel didn't kill him. I'd hate to explain that to the authorities.

"Well hello to you too Retta," he says sarcastically. Yes, I admit it wasn't the nicest of greetings since he practically saved me then. I definitely could have been kinder after he managed to pull Sam away and stop him from potentially hitting me.

"Sorry...Thank you for that. But seriously why are you here?” I ask him, looking around, wondering if anyone saw the scene.

Thank God nobody was out.

“Just looking out for you,” he says fixing my shirt from the ruffled state it was in. I smile at the gesture. I had missed Daniel actually. He was there for me when me and Nate were fighting.

"But I'm actually here as a warning. Yes, that's how I'll put it.” He surprises me by saying this. I look at him with a questioning expression.

"What do you mean?” I ask him. He grins before looking down at my fingers. I follow his line of sight and a gasp leaves my lips.

I've only just fucking noticed, and it's been hours. How could I have been so stupid?

"Now what in god’s name were you thinking when you stepped out without it?” he says waving his hands around. I watch him for a minute not saying anything. I didn't know either.

When I look at him, he has this look kind of look like he's waiting for my answer.

"He's going to kill me,” I whisper more to myself than anyone else. Fortunately for me, Daniel heard.

"Yep,” he says adding emphasis on that P.

"Well, what I was trying to say was that Nate is coming. Like he's probably going to come round that corner anytime soon." We both turn to the road and watch the corner carefully.

Seconds go by and no sign of him. But I wouldn't celebrate just yet.

"Why the fuck didn't you wear the ring?” he shakes his head as he drags Sam and dumps him into the car. I watched for a few minutes.

I laughed because I thought he was just going to dump him into the front seat.

"I really don't know,” I whisper because frankly, I don't. All I do know is that if Nate is on his way and he's angry because I'm not wearing the ring then I should probably go inside and lock every single door. Maybe I can pretend that I'm not here you know hide under a table or something.

"Where are you going?" Dan shouts out at me once he sees me heading towards the apartment. I barely even look back because I need to get inside ASAP.

"I'm going to get a fucking drink, that's where," I snap at him, storming up the entrance and entering. If I was going to be dealing with the furious, dominant Nate tonight I would need something in my system.

As I sipped from the wine glass, I watched Nate pull into the complex and proceed in walking out of his car in long strides, but no signal was given to me that he wanted to come in. I heard no ring, no buzz just nothing.

It put me on edge since Dan came here giving me the idea that Nate was desperate in talking to me. I expected him to make his way into my apartment and not let me talk.

I decided to walk out to see exactly what was going on.

When I could finally see Nate, I was surprised to see Sam standing up by himself against his car but I'm pretty sure it was Nate's strong hold on him that was keeping him up. Nate had two of his security team standing a few meters away from their boss.

Is this even legal, why aren't they stopping Nate?

"Nate what the fuck?" I scream running towards them. Sam has a seriously bruised face, and his mouth is cut probably from receiving a nasty blow. As much as I would love to see Sam receive some punches since he practically assaulted me earlier, I wasn't going to watch my fiancé kill a man right before my eyes.

When Nate hears my voice, he pauses his actions and turns his head around to me. His eyes widen and he automatically drops his hold on Sam and turns fully around to face me. I watch his eye twitch before he moves towards me and grabs a hold of my arm and pulls me towards him.

"I could kill him; the mother fucker didn't think I was serious when I said I would kill him," he blurts out tightening his hold on my arms. I knew he wouldn't hurt me, but he probably didn't realize that as he was getting angrier, he was pressing down harder.

"Sir, I'm going to need you to release, Miss Reeves," his main security guard says placing his hand on Nate. Nate opens his eyes and looks to my arms where his fingers are tightly wrapped around my wrists.

He jerks his hands down cursing to himself. I take this chance to rub my wrists where red marks appear.

Nate starts to take big steps away from me, but I didn't want that to happen. I know why he did that and I'm not mad at him for that. I am mad that he already knew about Sam's ways to me and had spoken to him behind my back, but I can discuss that with him at another time.

I placed my hand against the security guard's chest when he saw me walking towards Nate. I can appreciate his concern for my safety, but I knew I was safe.

When I stand before him, I wrap my fingers around his neck. Nate's eyes lift to meet mine, and I can see the regret in them. I rub circles on the skin there trying to soothe him, comfort him.

"Come inside Nate," I whisper pulling him towards me. I could see that he was fighting so many different emotions right now.

Nate's eyes stare back at mine, and I could see the desire within them. Nate is possessive so if he knew exactly what happened between me and Sam, I think he would be very interested to see what happens when we're not surrounded and when we are behind closed doors.
