Chapter 19

Mason POV

I wake up to Madi's crying over the baby monitor. Moments later, I heard Emily's voice.

"My darling is already awake, you're a bit early this morning. Shh, take it easy, my love. You're going to wake daddy up. Remember he's not used to babies yet." She whispers.

I put a baby monitor in Madi's room yesterday. I know it's wrong, but I was hoping that she would say something that would give away her plan. I still firmly believed that she only wanted money from me. Now, I'm not so sure. Atleast I didn't put one in Emily's room. That is a line I would not cross.

"I think we should give James a call. We need to inform him of everything that has happened. He is going to flip out." I sit up in my bed. I wonder who James is. Could this be the mastermind behind the operation? Could this be the information I have been waiting for.

I sit and wait in suspense. I hear the phone ring. Seconds later, I heard a man's voice answer. He sounds groggy. I think Emily woke him up with a phone call.

"Hello, sis. What time is it there?" I relaxed, knowing that it was just her little brother she was talking about. I send an SMS to my PI, asking him to get information about James. One can never be too careful in today's life.

"It just after five here. O god I am so sorry. Wait, shouldnt you be getting up for work?"

"I am on vacation. I dont need to get up."

I listen to her ramble on about everything that has happened in the last twenty-four hours. I get up and move to Madi's room. Before I can knock, I hear Emily now talking to a woman.

I hesitate to knock because I hear Emily apologize to the woman for what happened in the past. She went on to say that the woman was right, that I am a good father so far, and that she should have worked harder to track me down.

I decide that now is the best time to walk in. I can't afford for her to find me eavesdropping on her. I knock and there is a soft come-in from the inside.

Madi's face lit up when she saw me. Emily gave a soft laugh as she handed Madi to me. She turns the phone, so I can see the woman.

"Bella meet Mason. Mason, this is my sister-in-law, Bella." I heard a male voice coming from the background once again.

"Wait, I can meet the elusive Mason Turner." I can see the phone being ripped out of Bella's hands. "Why the hell did you kidnap my sister? Are you mental? You could have just asked." I look at him and then and Emily. She was about to say something but I stopped her. I choose to answer her brother.

"My brother told me what Emily thought of me. I knew that if I asked she would have said no. I knew that I had only one chance to get her to come with me. Perhaps I went about it in the wrong way, but it was the only thing I could think of at the moment. I knew she would fight me." I took Madi with me down to the kitchen. Why can nobody see why I did this?

Jesieka was already there making breakfast for all of us. She handed me a cup of coffee.

"Why are you frowning? You have a baby in your arms you should be smiling. Remember a child can feed off of your emotions." Jesieka took Madi and placed her in her chair. She handed me the baby food. I played with it. It looked so disgusting. I heard laughter and I looked up. Emily and Jesieka were standing next to each other looking at me.

"Mason, it is only carrots mashed up. She is eating the exact same food that you are." I shook my head and started to feed Madi. She was the cutest little thing. She tried blowing bubbles with the food.

"What do you do with Madi while you are at work?" I asked, looking at Emily.

"I usually drop her off at the daycare that the hotel offers the workers and guests. Why?"

"We can leave her with Jesieka if you do not mind. She loves babies."

"I do not want to keep her out of her work. Madi can be a handful."

"Don't worry. Jesieka will speak up if she is struggling."

Jesieka was happy to help when I asked her. As I said she loves babies and she doesn't see her grandchildren as much as she wants to.

When it was time to leave for work, Emily didn't want to leave with me. She told me that she didn't want the people at work to know about our relationship with each other. I just shrugged and drove off.

Jason was already waiting for me at the office. He looked angry as hell. What is with this woman?

"Can you explain to me what the hell is going on? Why did you follow me to Emily's house,"

"Can you first relax? This is what you wanted, right? I am in Madi's life." I answer irritated. How am I the bad guy when she is the one that kept my child away from me?

"I wanted you to get to know Madi. Not kidnap her and her mother. I do not know who you are anymore. You are becoming the asshole that father wants you to be. I can promise you that if you keep on this path Madi will hate you as much as I hate our father. I know what is going on in that thick head of yours. If you try and take that little girl away from her mother, I will fight you. Emily is a great mother. She is not like that other bitches that you have come across. She is not like the others. She doesnt want your money." Jason turns around and walk out of my office.
