Chapter 13

Mason's POV

I look at Jason stunned as he made his way out of the restaurant. I do not know what has gotten into him, but I do not like it.

Emily has occupied my mind since the day she just disappeared from my hotel room. I have been trying to locate her every time that I was in South Africa. Jason told me the exact town where he found her the first time. I even decided to expand my hotel business into her town. Now I have the opportunity to see her again and I just exploded.

Granted I have had many women over the years tell me that I am the father of their babies. All of them were disproven after I asked for a DNA test.

I am trying to wrap my head around the fact that I might have a daughter. I believe Jason when he told me that Emily's little girl looked like me. Jason would not make a mistake like that.

What I don't understand is why she isn't exploiting me for money. This is what women do. They do not see the man all they see are the money and what they can gain if they start a relationship with me.

I think I might have a plan. I might have to resort to blackmail to get what I want, but it will work out in the end.

Emily POV

I just put Madi to bed when there is a knock on the door. I hear Becca calling out that she will get it.

The apartment is a small two-bedroom apartment which means that Madi and I have to share a room. This is fine by me since she is still small and is still sleeping in a cot.

I hear whispers and walked into the living room only to see Jason standing in the door frame. I was shocked, to say the least.

"Jason, what are you doing here?" I asked barely above a whisper. I guess he heard me and looked over at me.

"I saw you at the restaurant with Rebecca and I thought I would come here and ask her where I could find you. I promise I am not here to give you any trouble. I just came here to talk to you." I sigh and just gave a nod to Becca. She stepped aside to let Jason in. After she closed the door she went to her room.

"I actually didn't think that you would find me this fast. I was hoping that I had a little more time." I gave him a small smile while I lead him to the living room.

"I told Mason and you were right." He gave me a defeated look.

"I asked you not to Jason." My voice sounded so small. I feel the tears welling up.

"I know, but you have to understand that he is my brother. I couldn't keep this from him and to be completely honest, I was hoping you were wrong about him."

"I guess he reacted the exact way that I predicted?" I asked him.

"Yes. I do not want to talk about him anymore. I want to talk to you about Madison. I really want to be in her life." He gave me a hopeful smile.

"Don't you want a DNA test first?" I am skeptical. How can he just accept this without question?

"Emily, I trust you and besides she looks just like her dad when he was a baby. They have the same hair and eyes."

We spent the rest of the day and most of the night just talking about Madi. There is not much to tell but I told him about everything. I even told him about what happened between me and Damian and how I thought that I could not become pregnant.

That night Jason became one of my best friends. I have never felt that close to anyone before, besides James.

When Madi woke up from her nap Jason took over from me. He played with her, he even fed her. He drew the line at bathing her and changing her diaper. I totally understood. He took tons of pictures of Madi. He documented everything that she did.

Jason finally left just after ten. I could see he was reluctant to leave, almost like he is scared that I will disappear with Madi. I promised him that I would let him know as soon as I got off work and that he can come once again.

I sat down after putting Madi down once again. Becca handed me a plate of lasagne that she made.

"That went well." She gave me a knowing smile.

"It went better than I hoped. I honestly thought that Jason is going to stone me for keeping Madi from them, but from what I could gather he understands why I did it. Granted Mason had the right to know and now the ball is in his court. I am just worried that he is going to take my child away from me. He has so much money that I will not be able to fight him,"

"Wait I thought you didn't know how much money he has?"

"I didn't, I googled him while I waited for Madi to fall asleep this afternoon."

"Don't worry, you have Jason in your corner. He won't let his brother take Madi away from you. Even I will help you. Nothing will tear you guys apart. I promise."

Becca went to her room after telling me goodnight. She left me with my own thought. Thoughts that I could do without.

What if Mason tried to take Madi away? I waited for that bundle of joy for seven years, I will not let her go without a fight.

I quickly sent a text to James telling him that I call him the next night before I went to bed. Tomorrow is going to be a long day now that I know who my boss is. Luckily I didn't tell Jason where I worked otherwise it would have been a disaster.
