Chapter 13

“Azrael, I swear to god I will fucking murder you,” She warned, poking him.

“Look your cheeks are all red now,” He smirked and laughed at her.

“Azrael!” Samaira huffed and put down the scoop, before she could do anything the man had run off and hid from her. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her fast-beating heart down a little. Samaira quickly made the batter then searched for some cupcake liners and a cupcake tray and quickly did her thing and popped it into the oven, putting her timer and ran off to find Azrael, searching everywhere downstairs first she hadn’t heard him go up the stairs. Unless of course, he managed to do so when rain poured down. As she walked down the hallway a flash of red was caught in her peripheral view and realized he was outside, in the pouring rain.

She slid the back door open and rested the phone on the table then looked around and saw him behind one of the trees. “You’re a dead man walking!” She ran after him, the moment he saw her running towards her he too started to run.

“I can run all day long, but you’ll grow tired at some point,” He laughed, running around the pool and looking over at her, slowing his pace. She stood across from him and tried to reach for him, but he kept jumping out of the way. He smirked as she couldn’t get to him, his gaze dropped down to her body and noticed the white shirt she wore was now wet due to the rain and was apparently a thin material as he could now see more than he should’ve before he even got a chance to tell her Samaira got a last moment stupid idea and ran to tackle him, causing them both to fall into the pool whilst the water was still pouring down.

“Didn’t see that coming, did you?” She was saying as she then tried to stand on her feet only to sink down, just now realizing how deep the water was, Azrael noticed and caught her before her head went under the surface, he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into him, her hands moved around his neck automatically. He looked down at her and shook his head, “No, I did not,” he mumbled, his eyes moving from her eyes to her lips and back into those mesmerizing eyes.

“You uh, should probably check the depth of a pool first before jumping in,” he said quietly, moving his hands over her bare thighs and wrapped them around his waist to stop her from moving around so much. “And maybe wear something under that white shirt before running out in the rain.”

Samaira looked down at herself for a moment and realized what he meant, then looked over at him, wanting to say something but was lost for words. She couldn’t describe why she was feeling that way, but it definitely had something to do with those hands of his that were still on the side of her thighs and not to mention the way those blue orbs were focused on her, making her feel like the center of his world.

Before she knew it she felt his warm lips over her, she froze for a moment, but her hands trailed up to those black strands, her eyes closed as she kissed him back. His soft lips moved in perfect sync with hers, one hand resting on her bottom, holding her in place as the other trailed up her abdomen, up her breast, and wrapped around her throat tugging her closer into the kiss causing her to moan into his lips.

It started as a slow and uncertain kiss, but it soon grew fiery, she felt his tongue sweeping over her bottom lip and immediately opened up without giving him a chance she pushed her tongue through, gliding it over his. Though she started the battle and was leading it, it hadn’t taken long for her to lose the charge. Azrael gripped her ass causing her to moan softly giving him the perfect chance to take over. He only pulled away to press kisses down her jawline and reached the spot under her ear. She ran her fingers through his hair, wanting more, and moaned softly when he sucked on her skin, his hand left her throat and was now on her breast. Both Azrael and Samaira knew this shouldn’t be happening, yet they couldn’t help, they were drawn to each other in a way neither of them could truly explain.

The sound of her alarm went off and it was as if they just then realized what they were doing and distanced themselves from each other, staring for a moment, waiting for the other to say something but neither of them did. “Uh, the cupcakes are finished,” Samaira said and got out of the pool, Azrael following behind her.

“There are towels in that cabinet,” He pointed, and Samaira went there without saying another word and took a towel, drying her body the best she could, and went inside to turn the oven off and pulled out the cupcakes, they smelled absolutely delicious. Even Azrael could smell it from where he stood and locked the backdoor behind him and walked over to the kitchen, placing her phone she had forgotten outside on the counter now as he looked at the cupcakes.

“They look perfect,” Azreal’s carefully touched one of the cupcakes then regretted they did just leave the oven not too long ago.

“Of course they do,” She mumbled, looking over at him. “I’ll go shower in the meanwhile they cool down then we can decorate them,” She added and already walked away, making a mental note to never wear a white shirt without anything else under.

“Sounds good, I’ll be doing the same,” Azrael looked down at his wet clothes and went upstairs to his room. And just like that, they both realized neither of them would talk about it, so they went with it.

Samaira took a shower and washed her hair then wrapped it in a towel as she took care of her body. She put on a pair of jean shorts paired with a cropped sleeved shirt then put on some socks because his house got a little cold sometimes. She unwrapped the towel from around her hair and applied her hair oils and finally went back downstairs to see Azrael dressed in some joggers and a shirt. He was busy mixing the colors into the icing in separate bowls.

“Those are all the sprinkles I have,” Azrael pointed to the three bottles, one was chocolate sprinkle, rainbow sprinkles and the last one had a mixture of silver and gold sprinkles, variation in size.

“Oh I think it’s more than enough,” Samaira shrugged, looking at the options, surely she could just pick out what she needed from the bunch. “You take a dozen and I’ll take a dozen,” She picked up one of the trays containing twelve cupcakes.

“May the best decorator win,” He pulled his cupcakes closer to him.

Samaira shook her head at him and grabbed her piping bag along with her tray of cupcakes and moved next to him. The two had soon started with the decorating, talking a bit about everything but the kiss, they had both silently agreed to never speak of it. Their eyes lingered on each other’s work, wanting to be better than the other. By the end, they began to compare.

“I think I won this,” Azrael sighed loudly, resting his hands on his hips as she looked at his cupcakes with a proud smug on his face, then turned to Samaira’s.

“Yeah right, look at that rose, it beats everything you made,” She rolled her eyes at him then pointed to the red rose she created that rested on some yellow frosting, the decorating was inspired by her favorite princess of course.

“Uh, no it doesn’t” He scoffed looking at her cupcakes, neither of them wanting to admit the other was the winner.

“Yes, it does,” Samaira replied in the same childish tone as him.

“I said no, so it’s no,” Azrael decided, reaching for the spoon that had some leftover blue icing on it.

“Okay, spoiled brat but I still disagree-” She narrowed her eyes on him, watching as he smeared the icing on her cheek, smirking. “Hey!” She yelled and looked at him in disbelief for a moment then wiped her face using her hand then put that on his face.

“Hey!” Azrael whined now.

“Eye for an eye,” She walked over to get herself a towel and wiped her face better but could still feel the small sugary part on her face. “Shit,” She muttered when she heard the doorbell and looked over at him as he finished wiping the side of his face.

“Let’s go see who it is then this conversation will continue,” He pointed his finger in her face then led the way to the front door. He checked first then let out a sigh, by the sigh Samaira heard she could assume he wasn’t too pleased with these guests.

Azrael opened up and his parents stood there along with Deacon, his cousin, and Lara, his cousin’s wife. Samaira frowned looking at the two others for a moment, not knowing who they were but smiled at the two she did know. Azrael's feelings were right, he knew his parents would come over and now of course they see he and his girlfriend spent their weekend together as they said. He could tell by the face on his cousin that he hadn’t expected any of this, just like Vincent he had his suspicions and had hoped this was all fake so he could take charge of the company but alas Samaira stood there, a certain mark on her face icing on both her and Azrael’s face.

“Hello Mr. and Mrs. Bright,” Samaira greeted, looking up at the couple, both so damn tall. Though the two others weren’t that tall compared to Vincent and Ashley.

“Hello dear, how have you been?” Ashley asked, a slight smile on her lips as she looked at the brunette.

“We’ve been good, thank you,” She answered, leaning towards Azrael and looked up at him and noticed he had some icing still on the corner of his mouth and gently swept it away using her thumb.

“You?” Azrael asked his mother, clearing his throat and looked away from those chocolate eyes.

“We’re doing good, I don’t think you know these two,” Ashley mentioned then pointed to the two next to her, two people Azrael didn’t seem to like too much. “This is my brother-in-law's son, Deacon, and his wife Lara,” She introduced them.

“Nice to meet you two,” Lara said kindly.

“You too-” She was saying when Deacon mumbled, “I’m surprised Azrael actually found someone.” His wife nudged him harshly and narrowed her eyes on him.

“Is there a reason for this visit? Should I order some food?” Azrael asked, knowing deep down this was mostly to see if they were lying about being together. They both took a step back, opening the door wider.

“Oh no no, no need to worry,” Vincent was quick to say as the four guests took off their shoes and neatly put them to the side then stepped into the house.

“We just wanted to personally bring you these files to sign, it’s our new policy,” His father added, looking at the rack of two shoes belonging to Samaira.

“I’ll look into the changes Monday or tonight if I’m not too busy,” Azrael looked at the folder of policies he had been handed and rested it on the coffee table for the moment.

“Busy day?” Deacon wondered, looking at the couple as they all sat down on the couch.

“Yeah, we have some plans,” Samaira mentioned, looking over at Azrael.

“Would you each like a cupcake?” He asked their guests, knowing those twenty-four cupcakes would be way too much for them.

“Is it chocolate?” Lara raised a brow at him.

“You bet it is, Samaira made them,” He smiled, knowing she loved chocolate cakes as much as he did. Samaira and Azrael got up and went to the kitchen and picked out fourteen cupcakes and set them on a tray. Azrael knew his family had a sweet tooth hence why he added some extra cupcakes. They walked back and rested the tray on the table, accessible to everyone.

“Wait, before you eat, pick your favorite cupcake design,” Samaira remembered, the four frowned at first then all pointed to cupcakes. Lara, Deacon, and Vincent pointed to one of Samaira whilst Ashley pointed to one of Azrael making the score three to one.

A proud smirk formed on the brunette’s lips as she looked up at Azrael who pouted, “I believe this means I won.”

“Congratulations then,” He mumbled and sighed dramatically.

“Oh, this was a contest?” Ashley tugged the cupcake liner down.

“The loser had decided to make it one,” She pointed out, shrugging innocently.

“Loser,” He repeated, raising a brow at her.

“Well you lost didn’t you?” She winked at him and patted his cheek.

“I’ll be sure to get me a rematch,” He mumbled and ate his cupcake.

The four stayed over a little longer, eating their cupcakes, and were quite surprised by how great it tasted. Lara requested the recipe and they all talked for a very short moment before heading out again. Samaira and Azrael went to go enjoy some more cupcakes then headed to the gym room and spent a little over an hour there.

“So, have they picked a time and spot?” He asked, wiping the sweat from his forehead and breathed a little heavy.

“After a lot of discussions they decided on someplace called The Deck and we need to all be there at 7, reservations made by Blake,” Samaira read out the important details from the messages then looked over at Azrael.

“The Deck? I don’t think I’ve heard my friends talk about it ever,” He rested his hands on his hips, furrowing his brows a little, then walked over to grab his phone and searched the place through his phone.

“Neither have I, to be honest, it appeared they picked a new spot because they dismissed each other’s favorite spots,” Samaira shrugged and locked her phone.

“Silly them,” He mumbled, studying the map for a moment.

“Mhm, I think I’ll go shower, nap then I’ll wake up around five?” Samaira’s eyes trailed down his slightly damp body, luckily he was too distracted by his phone to realize that.

“Will you be ready by six?” He raised a brow at the brunette, following her out of the room.

“Of course,” She assured him.

“Okay see you at six,” He closed the door and watched as she walked off.

Samaira went to her room and took a long shower, washing away all the sweat from her workout then locked her bedroom door so she could sleep freely in her underwear, there was nothing like feeling the soft blanket straight onto your skin. She set her alarm for five and the moment it went off she was already out of bed, complaining as she made the bed but also ready for some dinner. Cupcakes for lunch wasn’t her brightest idea…

The brunette freshened up then put on seamless underwear as she assumed she’d wear a dress. She stood in front of the mirror and moisturized her wild curls then put her hair in a neat high ponytail. She went to her closet full of new clothes and looked through her options. She picked out the olive-colored mini dress, it had slight bell sleeves, the neckline went down deep and had some crochet detailing on it, exposing her skin along with some of that near her middle and the back was completely open with a tiny hook at the top to hold the dress together. Samaira loved the dress and decided to wear it and pair it with some nude sandals. She did her make-up quickly, constantly checking the time, but she didn’t need to worry. She had a solid 15 minutes left. She packed her purse quickly and went out the door, resting her new sandals on the shoe rack then turned and saw Azrael coming down the stairs dressed in some black jeans, a beige Henley shirt that was made for his body. As he came closer she could smell his intoxicating scent, he sure went heavy on the cologne, and she loved it.

“Ready?” He adjusted the sleeve over his watch then picked out a pair of shoes that matched the shirt he wore and sat down on the chair and put on his shoes.

“I believe so, you?” Samaira looked down at him as he put on his shoes, her eyes focused on his hair wanting to touch it so badly, it looked so fluffy.

“Yes, I can’t wait,” He got up and opened the door for her. “I’m starving,” He mentioned, pouting a little.

“Yeah, we probably shouldn’t have had cupcakes for lunch,” Samaira walked to the passenger side of the car, resting her hand on the handle.

“Knowing my friends they might run 10 minutes late,” He unlocked the car and opened the garage.

“Knowing mine they probably will too,” She mentioned, looking at him, hoping he had the same thought as her.

“We could stop and buy ourselves a 10-piece nugget, just the nuggets so we can have five each to temporarily fill us,” Azrael proposed, driving out of the garage, his eyes wandering off to Samaira again, waiting to see what she had to say and by her smile he could tell he’d like the answer he was about to get.

“I love it when you come up with these brilliant ideas,” She smiled, glad he was thinking what she was thinking. She didn’t exactly have chicken nuggets in mind, but she did have food in mind and that would do.

“Come on, sweetheart,” Azrael took her hand and led the way outside then locked up the doors and helped her to the car then went to his side and drove out of the garage onto the street and waited to see the garage close then drove away, heading for their mini meal first then straight to The Deck. Samaira and Azrael both devoured the nuggets the moment they got it and wished they had gotten more but knew too much might spoil their dinner. As they drove over Azrael asked Samaira to check their menu online and the two then began to discuss the meals, trying to figure out what they’d take, both secretly like to study the menu before heading.

The two arrived at The Deck before the others as expected and checked in, heading to the table Blake reserved for them. They soon realized why the place was called the deck, they were on a literal deck, a much sturdier one though.

“See, just as expected they’ll run a little over time,” Azrael pulled the chair for Samaira then went and sat down next to her.

“I’m not even surprised at this point,” She laughed and pulled out her phone, noticing Emma had chatted to let them know they were very close.

Around five minutes later all the others started joining the table, soon they all started chatting, ordering their food and drinks, and just having a great time together. Neither of them had a thing to worry about, they just enjoyed each other’s company. Luckily the place wasn’t too crowded, and they still had some privacy assuming Azrael hadn’t been noticed just yet. Once their night came to an end they all paid their bills and hugged each other goodbye before each going their separate ways.

Samaira and Azrael went straight home then got ready for bed and headed under the covers. Once Sunday arrived they both went on with their day like usual, they went for a walk, had breakfast, lunch, worked out, and of course watched a movie, only this time they watched it early so neither of them would fall asleep.

“Well, that’s it for the day,” He stretched out his arms then turned the TV off and turned to Samaira who folded the blanket she used.

“Mhm, tomorrow work again,” She mentioned.

“You’ve literally only worked for a week,” He frowned, folding up his blanket too.

“Hush, boss,” Samaira poked him.

“Come on, we should head to bed if we wanna get up in time for breakfast,” Azrael rolled his eyes and walked up to the stairs.

“Sounds good, see you tomorrow morning,” She patted his shoulder, a slight smile on her lips. She was excited to go home, being here alone with him was dangerous for her feelings. She now preferred he’d be an asshole, then she’d know she wouldn’t have to be too careful.
