Chapter 144: Chapter 144

Aliyah’s POV

Months had slipped by like gentle waves after our intimate wedding under the moonlight. Life had settled into a rhythm of healing and quiet joy. Elara’s arm had fully healed after intensive physical therapy, though she still carried a small scar as a reminder of the nightmare with Tatiana. Luna’s Haven flourished under my careful management from home during the early months of bed rest, and the bar had become a beloved gathering place in the city. Asher had been my rock.

He has been attentive, protective, and deeply involved in every aspect of our growing family. The purple wolf inside me felt calmer, more at peace than ever before.

But today, that peace shattered in the most beautiful and terrifying way. The contractions started in the early hours of the morning, sharp and unrelenting, far more intense than when I had given birth to Elara years ago.

I woke Asher with a gasp, clutching my swollen belly as pain radiated through my body like fire.

“Asher… it’s time. The babies… they’re coming.”

He was instantly alert, his eyes wide with a mix of excitement and fear.

"Hold on, love. I’ve got you.” He scooped me up gently despite my protests and rushed me to the car, where Diana had already prepared the hospital bag weeks in advance. The drive to the hospital felt endless. Each contraction built stronger, stealing my breath and making me cry out. I gripped Asher’s hand so tightly I thought I might break it, sweat beading on my forehead as wave after wave crashed over me.

By the time we reached the delivery room, the pain had become unbearable. The doctors confirmed what we already knew that I was in active labor, and it was progressing rapidly. But something was wrong. The monitors showed distress. My blood pressure spiked dangerously high, and one of the babies was in a difficult position. The medical team moved with urgent precision, hooking me up to machines and preparing for every possibility.

"Aliyah, you’re doing great, but this is going to be tough,” the lead doctor warned, her voice steady but serious.

"We may need to intervene if things don’t progress safely.”

I nodded through gritted teeth, tears streaming down my face as another contraction ripped through me. Asher stayed by my side, his forehead pressed against mine, whispering words of encouragement.

"You’re the strongest woman I know. You fought Tatiana as a wolf. You can do this. Breathe, my love. I’m right here.”

The labor dragged on for hours, each push feeling like my body was being torn apart.

The pain was excruciating. It was sharper and more consuming than anything I had experienced before. At one point, my vision blurred and my heart rate dropped alarmingly. The room spun, alarms blared, and I heard the doctors shouting about hemorrhage and low oxygen levels. For a terrifying moment, I felt myself slipping away, the edges of consciousness fading as the pain threatened to take everything.

“Asher…” I gasped weakly, my hand reaching for him.

"The babies… please make sure they’re okay…” He held my hand tighter, his voice breaking.

"You’re not leaving me, Aliyah. Fight. Fight for them. Fight for us.”

The purple wolf inside me surged with one final burst of strength, lending me the willpower to push through the darkness. With a primal scream that echoed my wolf’s growl, I gave everything I had left. The doctors worked frantically, and suddenly relief.

The first cry pierced the air.

A strong, healthy wail.

“It’s a boy!” the doctor announced, holding up the tiny, squirming infant.

Asher’s eyes filled with tears of pure joy as he cut the cord. But there was no time to celebrate. Another contraction hit, even more intense. The second baby was coming fast.

Minutes later, the second cry joined the first. It was equally powerful and demanding.

"Another boy!” the doctor exclaimed. “Twins!” I collapsed back against the pillow, utterly spent, my body trembling from the ordeal. Blood loss had been significant, and the doctors worked quickly to stabilize me. For several anxious minutes, the room remained tense as they monitored my vitals. Asher never left my side, his hand never releasing mine, his face pale with worry even as happiness radiated from him.

Finally, the doctor smiled. “She’s stable. You did it, Aliyah. You survived. Both boys are healthy and strong.”

They placed the twins on my chest, skin-to-skin, their tiny bodies warm and perfect. I looked down at them through exhausted tears, my heart overflowing. Two identical little boys with Asher’s strong features and a hint of my softer ones.

They were beautiful, tiny miracles who had fought alongside me through the painful labor. Asher leaned down, his forehead resting gently against mine as he gazed at our sons. Tears streamed freely down his face, but they were tears of overwhelming joy.

“My boys… our boys,” he whispered, voice thick with emotion.

“You made me the happiest man alive right now, Aliyah. After everything we’ve been through. The separation, the pain, the fight with Tatiana, the fear of losing you today, we have two more miracles. I can’t believe it.”

He carefully named them, his voice full of pride.

"This one… Dixon. And this little fighter… Drake. Dixon and Drake Moretti.”

I smiled weakly, my fingers gently tracing their soft cheeks.

“Dixon and Drake… perfect names for our strong boys.”

Despite the near-death experience, despite the months of worry and recovery, I felt a profound thankfulness wash over me. I had conquered against all odds. I had survived the kidnapping, the bleeding scare, the dangerous labor. I had brought two more lives into our already blessed family.

Elara was brought in shortly after, her eyes wide with wonder as she met her new brothers.

"They’re so small,” she whispered, carefully touching their hands with her now-healed arm.

“Can I help take care of them, Mommy?”

“Of course, baby,” I replied, my voice hoarse but full of love. “You’re the best big sister they could ever have.”

Tracy, Papa, Cynthia, and Cohen arrived soon after, filling the room with quiet celebration and happy tears. Tracy hugged me tightly, whispering how proud she was. Papa beamed with grandfatherly pride, already planning stories to tell the boys when they were older. The family that had been tested so fiercely was now complete and stronger than ever.

As the evening settled and the hospital room quieted, Asher sat beside my bed, holding one twin while I held the other. Dixon slept peacefully in his arms, while Drake nuzzled against my chest. Elara curled up beside me, her head on my shoulder.

"I almost lost you today,” Asher admitted softly, his voice raw. “But you fought like the warrior you are. My purple wolf. My mate. My wife. Thank you for giving me this family. I am the happiest man alive.”

I looked at him, at our children, and felt tears of gratitude slip down my cheeks.

“We conquered, Asher. Despite the pain, the fear, the losses… we built this. I’m thankful. So very thankful.” The moon rose high outside the window, casting a gentle glow over our new family of five. The purple wolf inside me purred with deep contentment. The journey had been long and brutal, filled with separation, betrayal, danger, and near-death moments. But here we were. We are healed, united, and overflowing with love. Dixon and Drake had arrived safely. Elara was thriving.

Our bond as mates had never been stronger. This was our forever.

We had earned every moment of it.
