SKYLAR
As a typical teenage girl, best believe I've fantasized about my first kiss and how it’s gonna be one of the dreamiest and most magical moments of my life.
I watch a lot of home videos and drool whenever the couples kiss. Then deep down I prayed that my future mate would be a great kisser and I wouldn’t be so bad either.
The bottom line is, my first kiss has always been a huge deal for me. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would be losing it to some stranger. Except, he wasn’t just any stranger, no, he wasn’t a stranger at all.
I knew him. Hell, everyone in here should know him. Everyone in the Pack, both old and young, must have heard of him. He was a big deal. The only son of our great Alpha Damon. Filmonth’s high bad boy. A trendsetter. The IT guy of the Pack. The MVP of the basketball team. The kryptonite of every girl in school. The literal god of Filmonth High.
Ash. Ash Gunner. I can't believe I'm sharing a kiss with Ash Gunner!
A stray moan left my lips as his tongue delved deep with his hand around my waist, pulling me even closer. His lips tasted great, like chocolate and fresh mint. It sent my senses into a frenzy and I suddenly wanted to have more taste of him.
I couldn’t, ‘cause, in the next second, his lips left mine. Crimson from what just happened, my panicky eyes searched his gray eyes for some explanation but they were the coldest pair I’ve ever seen and there was no explanation in them.
"Try to stand on your feet, will you?" His deep voice gave me chills but not as much as his lips gave me when they joined mine in a sudden kiss.
"Huh?" I was still dazed by what just happened. He gestured down and my gaze followed. My feet were hanging in the air. The only thing keeping me standing was his firm hand around my waist. How shocked I must have been. "Sorry," I mumbed, quickly placing both feet back on the ground.
He retrieved his hand, but it went to my lips, and he wiped off what seemed to be saliva. "You have great lips. Hope you liked the kiss?"
What?! Liked it? hell, yeah. I did. It was amazing, more than I imagined it to be. The moon goddess must have heard the part of my prayer where I said I wanted a great kisser to have my first kiss with. But she must have forgotten that I said he had to be my mate. Not a bloody Casanova who was on every girl’s radar!
A heavy smashing sound and a girl’s shriek startled me. Well, not just me, because a good number of people turned in that direction. Turned from watching us. Oh, dear goddess!
I had forgotten about the crowd here, everyone just witnessed what happened. I hope I don’t get in trouble!
The girl was richly and sultrily dressed in pink, but she was in tears, and her mascara was running down. She stepped closer to us but her vicious eyes landed on me, and I recoiled in fear. Why was she giving me such a predatory look? And she was holding a piece of the bottle she’d smashed.
"How dare you?!" She seethed, darting her gaze to Ash.
He took a step closer to her, and…oh God! My breath hitched as my eyes danced up and down his frame. You gotta be kidding me!
This was my first time seeing him this close. I wasn’t big on admiring guys. No, I avoided them at best. But I had to admit, he sure was on another level from all the guys I’ve seen.
Tall. Very long, long legs. His face was smooth, shiny, and spotless. His dark hair left messy locks around his forehead, and the strands at the back hovered inches above his shoulders. He had a black band around his hair. He had earrings dangling from his ears. An all-black outfit has never looked as good as it did on him, coupled with the dark gloves and black boots.
The only thing off about him was his aloof, and arrogantly laid-back aura. The girl’s emotions were all over the place, but he seemed not to give a care in the world. Even though it seemed he was the reason behind her outburst.
"How could you fuck her? She’s my cousin, you bloody asshole!" The girl yelled maniacally, fisting her free hand and twirling the piece of glass in her other hand.
He arched his brow. It was condescending. "So what?"
His reply put the girl off and she gasped, with an expression that screamed disbelief. "So what? You and I have a thing-"
"Do we?"
She gasped again. I wasn’t a psychologist but it was clear he was gaslighting her. Making a fool out of her emotions.
"You…you…and I…"
"Fucked," he added nonchalantly. "That’s all there is between us. A couple of dry humps. So I don’t owe you a goddamn explanation."
"Ash…"
"Get the fuck out of my face. You’re keeping my date for the night waiting."
Her dark eyes fell on me again. "That-that tramp is your date?"
"Yes, and we would love to go have some fun away from this hellhole. So take the little dignity you got left and go home."
He grabbed my hand, pushed her aside, and headed to the exit. But when we got to Giselle’s table, he slowed down, snatching my book away from her grip. She looked too stunned to react, and I was just as stunned but I had to keep walking because he was pulling me along.
We stepped outside and he let go of my hand. I was panting too hard from everything that just happened. He stretched the book to me. With trembling hands, I took it.
If he knew the book was mine, then that means he’s been watching the drama between Giselle and me. What about that could have interested him? Why did he choose me as his escape from that girl? How could he so randomly kiss me? How could he be so insensitive?!
I was boiling with fear, anger, resentment, and indignation, but I couldn’t voice any of them out.
"Don’t be such a pushover. No one’s gonna appreciate you for always taking shit and not reacting. Learn to fight back sometimes."
I glanced at him, still very much speechless.
"Have a good night." He started stepping back and then added. "And uh, if we never get the chance to see each other again, just know you do taste great. For real."
He turned and headed to the parking lot, leaving me stupefied right to my bones. Minutes later, I got a bit of a grip on my sanity. Then I replayed every word he said in my head. The last part was the craziest.
If we never see each other again? Dude, we go to the same school! Realizing that now made me panic even more. Giselle and her minions saw us kissing. There was every chance they were gonna tell everyone in school tomorrow.
What’s gonna become of me now, dear goddess? Oh, no.
