Chapter 68: Young Female Assistant

Louie drove back to the Infinity Group headquarters, having consumed a bit of alcohol during lunch, resulting in a faint scent of liquor lingering around him.

Bella happened to pass by in the corridor, detecting the alcohol on Louie. She frowned but chose not to comment.

Louie had already reached the office door when he suddenly halted. He turned around and called out to Bella, who was preparing to meet a client, "Bella, what do you think Dad likes to drink?"

"My dad doesn't drink," Bella replied casually. However, she soon realized that Louie was taking advantage of her. She scolded, "Manager, you've had too much to drink again."

"Just saying," Louie laughed. "Considering your work pressure, I was trying to lighten the mood. Speaking of serious matters, call me after you finish meeting the client. I'll pick you up and we can't go empty-handed to your place for dinner. Help me choose a couple of gifts by then."

"Let's talk about it later. I don't know when I'll finish; that client is quite difficult to deal with," Bella said.

"How about I accompany you? Do you need the intervention of this manager?" Louie suggested.

Bella waved her hand, saying, "Manager, I think you should prepare to move to the organizational department. The appointment letter has already come down; sooner or later, you'll have to go to the organizational department. Why linger in the marketing department?"

"I just like being in the marketing department. If I go to the organizational department, where will I see you every day?" Louie chuckled.

This remark caused Bella to blush. She spat at Louie, saying, "Enough, it's better for managers like you to leave early. Don't let people say our relationship is ambiguous." With that, Bella glanced at her watch, hurriedly adding, "Alright, I won't chat with you anymore. It's time to say goodbye, Manager. The next time I see you, I should be calling you 'Director.'"

Louie rolled his eyes discontentedly, muttering, "What's wrong with a little ambiguity? Working in the company is boring; adding some ambiguity can liven up the enthusiasm of the employees. I'm still okay; compared to some managers who have office romances, I'm just a small matter." Saying this, Louie glanced at Shaw's office, smirking meaningfully.

Since moving to the organizational department was inevitable, Louie decided to prepare in advance. He tidied up his office, though there wasn't much personal stuff – a few car, military, and weapons magazines belonged to him, while the rest were company items that needed to be moved to the new office.

Having not completed the formalities until now, although the personnel appointment had arrived, Louie hadn't officially taken up the position of the organizational department manager. Utilizing the free time in the afternoon, he went to the HR department to complete the procedures, officially becoming the organizational department manager.

Louie arrived at the thirteenth floor, where the organizational department was located. As the department had not yet officially started its operations, it seemed relatively quiet. Only a few female clerks, recently transferred from other departments, had begun organizing the preliminary work. The department sign and doorplates for various sections were already hung up. Right across the office of the department manager was the deputy general manager's office, where Edith would soon be working.

Upon Louie's appearance, the female clerks greeted him one after another. In Infinity Group, everyone knew that Louie had climbed the ladder of promotion faster than anyone else, reaching the position of department manager in the blink of an eye. This wasn't the most critical point; the most crucial aspect was that this department manager was quite unconventional. Any female clerk with a bit of charm would find it challenging to escape the manager's flirtation.

It's unclear whether Louie would refute these rumors if he heard them. It seemed like he hadn't reached that level yet.

Entering the manager's office, Louie saw a short girl in an Infinity Group uniform tidying up the office. The girl wasn't tall, but her figure seemed decent when viewed from the side.

As the sound of the door being pushed open reached the short girl, she turned her entire body to face Louie, revealing an icy expression on her face.

"And you are?" The short girl wore no hint of a smile, her expression cold as she inquired.

"If I haven't walked into the wrong room, this will be my office from now on," Louie said with a smile.

The short girl still showed no sign of a smile. She politely introduced herself, "Manager Louie, right? Hello, I'm your assistant, Mary Albert."

Louie had reviewed Mary's resume related to her role as his assistant. Without Louie's approval, Mary wouldn't have been appointed as the assistant to the organizational department manager. According to her resume, Mary was twenty-five years old and graduated from a prestigious university. She had previously served as an assistant in the purchasing department and the general affairs department at Infinity Group. With the establishment of the organizational department, she had been transferred to the assistant position there. Considering that the position of the marketing department assistant was quite secure, it wasn't challenging to understand why Mary had been frequently transferred.

"Oh, Mary, right. From now on, you're my assistant. In that case, could you arrange for someone to move my things from the marketing department manager's office to here?" Louie wasn't hesitant; since she was his subordinate, he was going to make use of her.

"Sure," Mary agreed.

"Oh, and if you have the time, familiarize yourself with the organizational department's procedures. Most of the future work will be handled by you. I hope my assistant is someone capable of assisting me with work," Louie instructed.

Mary didn't quite understand Louie's statement; she stared with a puzzled look. Louie chuckled and explained, "What I mean is, if there's something you can handle, don't bother me. If you can't make a decision, you can always find Edith. She's my superior, and you can consult her for anything."

This time, Mary understood. She nodded and said, "Manager, Edith has already told me beforehand that anything requiring your signature or handling must be done by you. She emphasized that you are the department manager, and all matters must go through you before being reported to Edith."

"Damn, that's impolite. It's clear that I have to handle everything myself," Louie muttered with profanity. "Bullying people is one thing, but this is too much. Hmph, they want to offend someone? Come on, I like offending people."

"Manager, do you have any other instructions?" Mary asked, ignoring Louie's muttering.

"It's nothing," Louie said. "Mary, remember this: if I'm not around, find Edith." Louie emphasized, "She's the actual leader of this department, and I'm just a puppet, specifically here to shield her from bullets."

Louie wasn't sure if Mary understood what he said. He turned away and walked towards Edith's office across the hallway. Louie planned to reiterate to Edith that he was only good for arguments, not for managing practical matters. To his disappointment, Edith wasn't in her office. Edith's female assistant informed Louie that Edith had just taken a leave because her son was sick.

"I didn't expect this woman to have a gentle side," Louie thought to himself. "It seems my assumption was correct; despite her cold exterior, she must have a passionate heart."
