Chapter 142: All It Takes Is One Woman to Make Bowie Show Up!

Three days later,

Boris returned, exhausted from the journey.

KNOCK!

He tapped on the main bedroom door, careful not to wake Lydia, who was still in bed.

"Mr. Edwards, I've got news."

Ethan had just finished giving Lydia, who was running a high fever, some water and her medicine.

He glanced at Lydia, who had been unconscious with a high fever for three days.

He picked up the pack of cigarettes from the bedside table and tiptoed out.

In the living room——

He lit a cigarette, crossed his legs, and sat down on the sofa. "What took you so long?"

Boris replied, "I ran into some trouble. I'd just gotten off the plane when that bastard Grant shot me."

Grant had been holding a grudge against Ethan ever since his cousin's death and was seething with hatred.

Knowing that they were investigating Patrick's scar removal, Grant stepped in to cause trouble.

Ethan narrowed his blue eyes and took a detached drag on his cigarette. "So he doesn't want you to investigate Patrick?"

Boris nodded. "I did as you said and rounded up everyone involved. Some of them couldn't take it and confessed."

From the tone of his voice, Ethan realized that there was something fishy about Patrick's case.

He exhaled a heavy puff of smoke, his gaze darkening. "What do you mean?"

Boris replied, "Miss Hayes's father did indeed undergo scar removal surgery at that clinic."

He paused, then added, "But it wasn't the centipede-shaped scar on his right eyebrow. It was a burn scar on his buttocks."

This meant that the findings from George and Chairman Kim were wildly off the mark.

Ethan's gaze remained fixed as a long trail of ash accumulated at the tip of his cigarette before suddenly falling, burning the back of his hand.

Only then did he lift his eyes, flick the ash off his hand, and say nonchalantly, "Patrick really isn't Chama after all!"

"That old geezer! If he's got a scar on his butt, so what? Why go to the trouble of getting cosmetic surgery to remove it?"

Boris had been quite puzzled by it at the time.

He only managed to get the truth by flirting with the nurses.

"That area is just too embarrassing to talk about. I heard that every time the couple had sex, Miss Hayes's mother would get disgusted and say his burn scars were hideous and ruined the mood!"

Ethan snorted derisively. "So someone took advantage of the situation and bribed the staff at the scar-removal clinic."

"They deliberately altered Patrick's medical records from years ago, changing the treatment site to a centipede-shaped scar on his right eyebrow."

The more Boris thought about it, the more terrifying it became. "That means the knife wound on Patrick's abdomen earlier, as well as the stranger at the hotel who produced the bullet extracted from Chama's body to incriminate Patrick, were all part of a meticulously orchestrated hoax."

They wanted to shift the blame for Chama's crimes onto Patrick, allowing the real Chama to evade justice.

Who on earth had Patrick offended?

How unlucky could he get?

Boris asked, "Who is this person with such immense power that they can evade the influence of the Davies family? To fabricate all this incriminating evidence and pin Chama's crimes on Mr. Hayes?"

"Who else could it be but the real Chama?" Ethan narrowed his blue eyes and forcefully crushed his cigarette into the ashtray.

Chama's meticulously crafted scheme had actually duped him.

Even from a distance, Boris could sense his fierce determination to kill Chama.

Confused, he asked, "Mr. Edwards, if you believed what Bowie said, why did you have me spread the news that Chama was dead in the river valley on the black market?"

Ethan replied, "If this fake Chama—Patrick—didn't die, how could the real Chama possibly show his face?"

He was luring Chama into letting his guard down so he'd reveal his whereabouts.

Chama had remained perfectly hidden for a decade; no one knew where he was. This left the various Eastern European factions powerless against him, the world's most wanted fugitive, allowing his dark web organization to run rampant and commit atrocities for all those years.

If he were that easy to catch, the international bounty wouldn't have skyrocketed year after year, attracting renowned mercenaries from around the globe who were all vying to claim the top prize.

Unfortunately, Patrick is still dead!

Boris asked, "Mr. Edwards, now that Bowie has escaped, what if he contacts Chama and reveals everything?"

"Wouldn't Chama then realize that we've seen through his schemes—that he's using a fake Chama as a decoy to hide himself even deeper?"

A cold glint flashed in the depths of Ethan's eyes. "One woman is all it takes to make Bowie show his face!"
