Giovanni struggles with putting her in a dress as well as trying to calm her down. "What's wrong?" I step towards them. As soon as Gianna sees me she puts her hands up asking to be carried. I immediately pick her up as she nudges her face into my neck her wails growing with sound as if she was complaining.
Patting her back gently rocking her so she calms first. Giovanni looks distressed throwing her dress upon the bed pacing watching his sister's storm calming. As soon as her wails turn to soft hiccups I focus my attention on him.
"What happened, Gio?" My tone gentle.
"I tried putting her in the dress and she kept refusing so I tried pushing it on her and she hated it." He sighs fingers massaging his temples. Giovanni has become extremely busy that he doesn't have much time to spend with Gianna as before putting a slight strain on their relationship.
"Come. Let me show you." I whisper placing Gia on the bed. She clutches my neck tightly shaking her head refusing to let go thinking her brother will force it on her again. "Gianna the pack is waiting to celebrate your birthday. They have presents and even candies. Don't you wish to acquire them?" I ask her and she stills in my hands her hold around my neck lessening.
"Don't change her on the high chair, Gio. Always on the bed for it is more easier and comfortable." I instruct slowly zipping down her dress. I turn Gianna around so her back is faced to me. Giving her a toy so she gets distracted.
Quickly grabbing the dress I thrust it down her body, she screams again not liking the material on her skin her tiny hands trying to push it off her flesh. "Just a little more Gianna." I soothe her with words and quickly get it down through her head. Zipping her up I allow her to stand on the bed. She fusses a bit but eventually relaxes more curious about her little toy.
"All done, now let's get to that party shall we?" I smile giving her to Gio whilst ruffling his hair. A habit I have grown fond of.
"Thank you, Zia." He thanks me carrying her down the stairs to the open grounds where the wolves are waiting.
As soon as we enter the spot, the area lights up and loud cheers and claps welcome us focusing all their attention on the shy pup. "Tanti Auguri!" The wolves shout to her with song and laughter. She climbs down her brother jumping up and down in excitement knowing this is all meant for her.
I smell him before I see him, his hand grabbing my waist bringing me to his side. I eye him up from the tight white shirt he wears to his hand tucked into the black pant I ironed. Hair gelled back smoothly allowing a single strand to fall down his face. He didn't shave a small stubble growing about that makes him look more mature and male to me.
"You look good." A compliment from my mouth that makes his emeralds sparkle as he gazes down at me.
"Well I have a female that I need to impress, you see." He whispers.
"Is that so? And this female, does she look beautiful?" I ask fishing for compliments.
"More than any female I have ever laid eyes upon, perhaps even more than the goddess." He says peering down into my eyes with a gentle smile.
Our intense bubble is popped when the females begin dancing, the oldest carrying Gianna in her hands they cloud around her swaying back and forth in harmony. A dance to celebrate a day of birth. The males stand back, hands at their sides watching the dance with smiles not infiltrating an inch of their space.
"If it was a male, the males would dance and the females' would step back. That is the way of celebration." Deimos bends down to inform keeping his eyes on the dance.
"Join us." Mia comes forward to me her palm held out for me to take. Surprised, I look up at Deimos. He nods eagerly with excitement in his eyes, he wishes for me to experience this. With a soft smile, I place my hand in Mia's as she guides me to the circle.
The females' cheer and immediately bring me into it. They slow down their steps so I could follow, as I struggle with blushing cheeks my eyes find my male. He stares at me with so much pride as his heart expands filling my entire being within him. I indulge in his soul, he cannot even describe how he feels for me. A blessing he didn't deserve is what he often says.
Ragon peeps behind Deimos taking pictures of me behind his back. He seems to be trying to hide while doing so. Deimos notices the change of air around him and swiftly turns to catch his beta off guard. Ragon stills, phone in his hands' mid-air with wide eyes he trembles. A low growl from Deimos has Ragon on his knees. Deimos reprimands him, finger pointing down at his beta as Ragon listens head bent like a pup in trouble. Loud laughter booms from my chest at the sight, some things never change even though years have passed.
The party calms after dinner and whilst everyone holds a plate with a slice of cake, the males' set up the fireworks. The very young were taken back home as their ears are sensitive to loud sounds and the festivities might startle them.
I am on my third slice sitting on my male's lap as he greets me with a nuzzle to my neck. "Would you like another slice, my female?" He asks looking down at my almost empty plate. Palm placed upon my belly he rubs the bump with soft eyes and a smile. "Does our pup want more?" He asks again.
"I am quite full. If I eat more I will probably puke tomorrow morning." I whisper keeping the empty plate on the picnic table.
He nods, his thumb wiping the side of my lips cleaning the frosting that stuck to my skin. "We can head inside as well, the fireworks might be too loud for you." He says watching the males' ready to light them up.
"No, I want to watch it." I shake my head eyes sparkling with excitement. I shift upon his lap leaning on his shoulder and he carries my weight with ease even though I have gotten heavy. There is no strain to him, he is very comfortable helping to lessen my anxiety.
A young juvenile quickly lights it up and runs a little farther as fast as his feet can take him with an excited shriek. My eyes widen when I see the spark it sends shooting into the dark sky. A second is all it takes for it to burst into different colors and create gorgeous patterns. The sight was beautiful but the sound for me was not.
Deimos was right, it was too loud. I whimper shutting my eyes close as my ears burn in reaction to its loudness. But I don't want to leave I have never seen fireworks before, I want to enjoy it. "Look at that one, my female. It's my favorite as it resembles stars." Deimos points his finger to the sky his iris showing me the sight.
I grip his shirt tightly clutching it within my palm and that gets his attention. He looks down at me and his eyes widen. "What's wrong? Are you in pain? I shall call the healer." His worried eyes scan my body, skimming through every inch of my flesh. He prepares to get up to beckon her and I immediately stop him.
"It's too loud." I whisper.
A spark of anger crosses his face. "What did I tell you, Lumina? I don't wish for you to strain yourself like this!" A strong raise to his voice, tone firm, and angry. A sharp nip to my neck in punishment has me upset.
Eyes widen, lips quiver a single tear dripping down my cheek. My emotions diving again has him take a deep breath in and shut his eyes with a frown. "I am sorry, Lumina. I shouldn't have raised my voice." He apologizes, fingers gently wiping away my tears as he gazes down at me.
"I-I have never seen fireworks before. I just wanted to enjoy it." I whimper eyes peering down at my hands placed upon my lap.
"I understand." He whispers with a light kiss to my forehead and a curt nod.
The male goes forward again to light the next one and Deimos's voice booms across the grounds, the wolves settling down with his command. "Aspettare!" He orders and the male stops in his tracks turning around head bowed.
Deimos rubs his palms together creating heat of flesh and swiftly covers my ears adding little pressure hoping to block out the heavy sounds that will arise. "Vai Avanti." He orders again and the male continues to light the next firework. The beauty as it flares up the sky is breathtaking and I watch in awe.
"Better?" He asks keeping his eyes on me. I quickly nod my head my mouth open taking the view in. Magical.
"My females' would love this. We never had the opportunity to get fireworks as our pack didn't have what was needed to barter for it. They were expensive." A pang of sadness takes over my heart. I had told them of my pregnancy and was met with sobs of happiness and excited cheers. I am afraid I will end up birthing my pup here.
"Do you miss them?" He asks softly peering down at me beneath his lashes.
"Terribly." I utter feeling the heat of his gaze upon my flesh.
"Perhaps it is time, Lumina." He says looking back at the painted sky and finally gazes at Giovanni and Gianna. A deep heavy sigh leaves his lips. Chest pulled in painfully he finds Gio chasing his sister as spurts of laughter leave her belly.
"Time for what?" I ask confused frowning looking up at him meeting his eyes.
"To return home." He whispers.
