Chapter 110: 110

Tristian

Age 11

By the time we make it to the meeting site, I've already pushed Dahlia's glare out of my mind. What can she do anyway? She's just being a brat like Penny says and wants to have her way regardless if she's in the right or not. Makes the pity Penny feels for her twin sister make more sense.

"Come on, Trisy!" Penny nudges my side bringing me out of my thoughts. "You look so weird when you're serious! It doesn't suit you at all!" I pout and glare at her making her giggle. "Let's go and explore!" She grabs my arm and drags me away.

Shouldn't I stay with father? I look back and see him watching us with nothing more than amusement. I relax because of it and look forward again. Maybe I'll be able to have fun during this pack meet-up after all.

"So who do you wanna meet?" Penny asks curiously. "Only meeting other future Alphas sounds boring to me! Knowing many other wolves can be helpful in the future!" She adds cheerfully. "Alliances, battles, friendships, enemies... so many possibilities! You know..."

As Penny rambles on, I take note of adult wolves looking at her with amusement. I bet many of them were just like Penny back when they were our age. I shake my head and continue to follow my friend around.

As we walk around and stop to chat with many young wolves like ourselves, someone catches my eye. A girl sits in the corner crying alone. She looks way too young to be here and out of place but the despair on her face breaks my heart. Is she a little Omega? Did someone hurt her feelings?

"Oh! Do you see that little freak over there?" I look up overhearing a pair of older wolves and frown seeing them pointing to the crying girl. "She was kicked out of the pack! It's about time too! She's so useless that she's bound to a healing den!" The group starts to cackle and I can't help but clench my fists.

What's their problem? We aren't a group of stinky rogues but pack wolves! No one is useless... father said so! I open my mouth to say something but then shake my head.

"Don't cause any problems with other packs, pup." Father's words echo in my ears. "You're my son. You may ruin alliances if you do so and we don't need any pointless wars because of pups having fights. Show that you're mature. You're to be an Alpha in the future."

They aren't from my pack. I can't cause any problems. Instead, I turn and make my way over to the girl. She has her knees to her chest and is trembling with tears running down her face. Why is no one comforting her?

"Hello!" I say and tense when she snaps her head up and stares at me. Her brown eyes remind me of a little fawn. "I'm sorry..." I stammer and rub the back of my neck. "I didn't mean to scare you... um... are you alright?"

She stares at me for a long time before hiding her face again. "N-no..." she whimpers and I bite my lip. How do I comfort someone younger than me again? She at least doesn't seem like a brat like Dahlia. "I-I'm not... m-my parents don't want me anymore..."

I tense and hesitate looking around before I sit down next to her on the floor. "What do you mean?" I ask. "You don't look like a bad girl so... who wouldn't want you?" I then wonder if I'm prying too much and quickly add. "You don't have to answer if..." I trail off when she looks back at me.

Her fawn-like eyes gleam and her freckled face is red from tears. She doesn't stand out too much with her brown hair and plain dress and yet I find myself drawn to her. She reminds me of little Daisy who would cry alone in the woods when she was five years old.

"You know... when I get sad, I think of something funny," I say making the girl look confused. "For example when my best friend Penny was small! She could always make me laugh with her weird noises and wagging tail. She was always acting like a puppy without being one." I let out a small laugh. "She'd drag me around with her little teeth until she fell back on her rump. Then play fetch with me! I'd throw the call and she'd chase after it without a second thought. She was a funny little puppy."

As I smile at fond memories, the girl next to me lets out a small giggle. I look over to her and see her smiling. It's small but it's progress! I grin happily and relax. "I'm Tristian by the way. I'm going to be Moonlight Pack's greatest Alpha one day!" I say proudly.

The girl blinks and her mouth makes a small 'ooh' shape. "N-nice to meet you, Tristian..." she whispers. "I'm Leah... I am..." her eyes dim again. "No... was a Dark Sky Pack member but... now I'm part of Royal Pack instead..." she looks down again.

"Really?!" My eyes widen. "That's awesome! Royal Pack is the greatest ever! You'll get to meet the Alpha King and help them out there!" I say excitedly and smile. "That's an amazing honor!"

Leah winces and sighs. "They kicked me out... because my wolf is a dream walker." She murmurs. "I'm... meant to be a healer... but... my family are all warriors... they hate me and..." she hides her face again.

I frown and place a hand on her shoulder. "You have your wolf already too? That's great too!" I smile happily making her look up again. "And a dream walker too? How cool!" I say that yet have no idea what it is.

Leah offers a weak smile. "I-I... I healed my brother and... when he woke up, he said that my wolf nursed his back to health... then I was kicked out because... they had no use for me." She murmurs. "But... I love my family... why must they hate me? If I'm so special... then why am I called a monster?"

I clench my fists as I watch Leah look so miserable. What sort of family did she have? Just because she's meant to be a healer instead of a warrior, she's called a monster? "Because your family is a group of battle-hungry meatheads," I say immediately making her eyes widen. "They're blind dummies. All muscle and no brains. Don't listen to people like that."

Leah rubs one of her eyes. "Y-you don't think my abilities are freakish...?" She asks softly making me shake my head firmly. "W-why though? You don't even... know me...?" Her question is valid. I'm just some random wolf who approached her with the hopes of making her smile.

"Because I think it's cool," I say simply. "Your wolf can heal someone else's in a snap. Not only that, she does so in their dreams! How can that not be cool? While they go off and fight, they could have had you there to heal them!" I shrug. "Their loss honestly! Don't worry about those stupid meatheads anymore. They're not worth it!"

Leah blinks slowly and giggles again. "Y-you're so silly, Tristian..." she murmurs. Her tears have dried up now and I can't help but grin. I was able to help this girl after all!

"Well, well... looks like the freak made a friend!" Leah freezes and looks up. Her face pales and her eyes lose all light. "Must be pathetic just like you!" I look up and glare at the group of three in front of us.

The one who spoke appeared to be older than me. Her dark brown hair is short just below her chin and her eyes are a steel gray. "T-Talia..." Leah whispers and cowers while I stand up and narrow my eyes.

"What did you just call my friend and me?" I ask growly. Her scent smells familiar to Leah so I figure she must be her sister. "Want to say that to my face?" Talia is taller than me but I don't back down. I'm an Alpha's son after all!

"Your friend!" Talia lets out a loud laugh and looks down at me like I'm nothing more than a bug under her shoe. "You don't have to be so pathetic! Don't be friends with this little freak here! Don't you know? She's nothing more than a monster with zero use for anyone! I won't be surprised if she gets kicked out of Royal Pack within the week she's there."

While Talia laughs, Leah whimpers and starts to sob in her knees again. This has to be a big fear to her for her to cry immediately. I clench my fists and growl lowly as Silas stirs in my mind. "Don't you DARE call Leah names again!" I snap. "She is friends with the future Alpha of Moonlight! Insults either of us again and you'll be in big trouble!"

Talia's laughter fades and she looks at me in surprise. Good! I narrow my eyes and sense Silas pushing for control. Father told me not to let him in control yet but right now, I want to give this insolent wolf a piece of my mind!
