Chapter 59 FIFTY-NINE
"So, he's also a werewolf? Damn it, I didn't notice that. But how? How is he still alive?" Raven asked, his voice shaking with disbelief after Jao’s shocking revelation. Jao clasped his hands together, his expression serious.
"Derrick had connections after he became the Alpha. He got hold of an experimental drug that could temporarily stop the heart from beating. It wasn’t even fully tested, but he used it on Jasper to fake his death when he found out about his imprisonment," he said.
"That’s cruel," Cecil whispered, her voice laced with horror. "How could he experiment on his own son?" she added.
Arthur gently placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, trying to soothe her.
"Derrick doesn’t know Jasper has kidnapped Brienne," Jao added, his voice low but urgent. "I’ll tell you where she is, but you have to promise to help me," he added.
"What do you need our help with?" Raven asked, his tone sharp but curious. Jao hesitated, his voice trembling as he spoke.
"I have a wife and a son. My wife wanted to leave the pack, but Derrick wouldn’t allow it. He enforces his rules with brutal punishments, and we’d suffer if we disobeyed. The pack isn’t safe for them anymore—Derrick’s been recruiting rogues, and the chaos is growing," he said.
Raven glanced at his father, his expression serious. After a moment, he gave a firm nod. Arthur stepped forward, his voice steady and reassuring.
"Tell us where Brienne is, and we’ll do everything in our power to get your family to safety," he said.
Jao’s shoulders dropped with relief, gratitude clear on his face. The fact that the Wolfgangs trusted him brought a glimmer of hope.
Carter grabbed a spare map and spread it out on the table. Carter handed a marker to Jao.
"Mark the location," Carter said. Jao leaned over and circled a spot on the map.
"She’s here," he said quietly. "I've been following Jasper as per Derrick's order and this is the place where I saw Brienne," he added.
Raven walked over, snatching the map from the table. His hand shook as he stared at it, his eyes wide.
"Dad... I know where this is," he whispered. Arthur turned to Carter, his voice firm.
"Send a warrior to scout the location, Carter. Be precise—make no mistakes. Brienne’s safety is at stake," he ordered. Carter straightened, determined to help Raven.
"Yes, Alpha Arthur," he replied before rushing out of the house.
"Tell us more about the Red Moon Pack— every entrance and exit way. Whatever we need to know," Arthur said. Jao nodded his head and began telling the Wolfgangs' everything he knew about the pack.
Brienne stared at the door blankly, her thoughts swirling with sadness and longing. She missed Raven so much that it felt like a heavy weight on her chest. The silence in the room was deafening, broken only by the faint sound of her own breathing.
"Baby, please hang on tightly. A little bit more and help will come," she whispered. As if hearing her plea, the baby kicked, a tiny but strong movement. It made Brienne smile, a flicker of happiness lighting up her worn face. The baby was fighting, and that gave her strength to keep going.
Brienne was hopeful because of the man who visited her yesterday. She didn’t know him—he was a stranger with a rugged face and a firm voice. But something about him, perhaps the way he spoke or the determination in his eyes, made her believe him. He had promised to find someone to rescue her.
The door burst open and Jasper went inside making Brienne flinch. Every time he came in, Brienne was filled with fear, but it was the dread of what he could possibly do that kept her senses awake.
"Brienne," he said her name casually. "How are you today?" he added and sniffed. Brienne looked at him and Jasper's eyes were seemingly red.
"Answer me!" he yelled. Brienne jolted and avoided his piercing gaze.
"I'm f-fine," she answered, stuttering. Jasper leaned and grabbed her chin.
"You should have just quietly obeyed me back then. None of this would happen if you just accepted me back," he said and started sniffing Brienne's hair down to her face. Brienne's blood ran cold.
"What are you doing?" she asked, but Jasper did not answer her; instead, he began kissing her cheeks down to her jaw. Brienne panicked and tried to move away from Jasper but he stopped her and glared at her.
"Stay fcking still or I will fcking punch your stomach until your guts spill," he venomously said. Brienne choked on her own tears and stayed still. Jasper grinned devilishly and caressed her face.
"Such a pretty face," he whispered. "But too bad, you're going to die," he added and unzipped his pants. Brienne's tears started streaming down her face. She closed her eyes, feeling disgusted with what Jasper was doing to her.
"Boss! We're under attack!" someone yelled, pounding hard on the door.
Jasper froze, cursed under his breath, and zipped up his pants. His eyes darkened with fury as he grabbed Brienne by the neck, squeezing tightly.
"This is your doing, isn’t it? I don’t know how those damn wolves found you here, but I’ll kill them all for this!" he snarled, his voice sharp with anger.
Jasper let go of her abruptly, leaving Brienne gasping for air as she clutched her throat. Without another glance, Jasper stormed out of the room.
Brienne's composure crumbled as soon as he left. She broke down and sobbed. She can no longer endure staying in this hell.
Jasper marched outside and saw his men already transformed into their wolf forms. He stepped out with furrowed brows.
"How many?" he asked.
"Too many, Boss! I don't think we can beat them with our numbers," one of his men replied, making him even angrier.
"And what? Do you want me to retreat?! I'm fcking sure it's Raven attacking us," he said. "He will die by my hands today," he added.
"But Boss..."
"Do you want the drugs?" Jasper asked, a sly grin spreading across his face. "I've prepared twenty kilograms of it," he added confidently. His words ignited a spark among the rogues working under him, their energy surging as though fueled by magic. Jasper’s grin widened. Who wouldn’t want the drug? He had tried it himself, and the rush was intoxicating—addictive. The feeling was unparalleled.
"We're going to fight them," Jasper declared, watching as his men eagerly consumed the stolen drugs. He had taken them from his father, and now he will use them to defeat Raven and his men. He wasn’t going to die today. No, today he would win. He would take Raven’s head and parade it triumphantly before Brienne.
