Chapter 20 TWENTY
Everyone is busy in the packhouse. The servants know the future Luna of Crescent Stone Pack will arrive later, and everything must be perfect.
Raven walked out of his office, smiling widely. He couldn't contain the happiness he was feeling. He's excited. Raven went down the stairs and saw his beta.
"Morning," Raven greeted and fist bumped Carter.
"Someone's in a good mood," Carter said. Raven sat next to him, crossing his legs.
"It's finally happening, Carter," Raven said.
"I'm happy for you, man," Carter said. "I have informed the warriors and every member of the pack. No need to worry anymore, but Raven, you have to tell her sooner. We can't hide forever," he added.
"Thank you, Carter," Raven said. "I will tell her," he added.
"I'll be going now," Carter said and tapped Raven's shoulder. Raven turned around and called his beta's name.
"Hey, you should come here later. I want you to meet her," Raven said. This is the first step he will take. He needs to introduce Brienne to his beta.
"Alright, I will come later," Carter said and left the packhouse. Raven looked around him. Everything's perfect and ready.
Hours later, Raven left the pack to go to Brienne's office to fetch her, just in time for her work to end. He waited silently in his car, and when he saw Brienne, he immediately got out and greeted her.
"Hi, baby," Raven said. "How's your day?" he added, guiding Brienne to his car. He opened the door for her and closed it when she went inside.
"I'm fine, Raven. Just a little bit annoyed because of the people pestering me," Brienne said and heaved a sigh. Raven's gaze fell on her, and Brienne noticed. "No, don't do anything. I can manage," she added.
"I'm just looking, baby," Raven said and chuckled. If Brienne hadn't told him, he'd call Johnson later and speak to him about it. He doesn't want Brienne to worry about this anymore, but he also doesn't want her to be frustrated at him. Shaking his head, Raven started the car and drove away.
They arrived at the building, and they both went inside. Brienne saw the owner and greeted her. The owner was snarky at Brienne, but upon seeing Raven, who was looking at her with deadly eyes, he stopped.
"Y-You may go; I'll deposit your money soon," the owner said. Brienne forced a smile.
"Thank you," she said and walked away. Raven glanced at the owner, who hastily entered the room and trailed Brienne to the elevator. They got out of Brienne's floor and went inside her unit. There were a few boxes on the floor, as well as two suitcases. Raven's forehead creased.
"Is this all, baby?" Raven asked.
"Yes," Brienne said and smiled. She was grateful for everything she had. As she grew up, her sisters received more possessions than she did, yet Brienne never felt resentment towards her parents for their generosity. When she became a working woman, she wasn't the type of woman who would buy something unless necessary. Instead, she put the salary in her savings, which has really helped her now that she's pregnant.
"Alright, I'll carry these boxes. Don't move there and wait for me," he said and lifted the boxes. Raven went out of the room, and Brienne sat on the bed. Looking at the unit she was staying, it wasn't that bad. She grew fond of the compact space she could call her own, but her pregnancy and the incident involving the intruder never left her mind. It's best to stay with Raven.
Raven came back a few minutes later, carrying another box and smiling at her. He went out and repeated the process until the only remaining things were her suitcases. Brienne grabbed her handbag, took a final look around the place, and followed Raven.
"Are you okay?" Raven asked while they were inside the elevator.
"Yes, I guess I'm just a bit tired," she replied, instinctively placing her hand on her belly to check her baby, which Raven noticed.
"Are you hungry? Let's eat first. I will tell the moving truck to go ahead without us," he said. When the elevator dings, Raven takes Brienne's hand and intertwined their fingers while he pulls the suitcases. Once again, Brienne thanked the owner and went out of the building. When Brienne spotted the moving truck in front, Raven handed the suitcases to the worker and struck up a conversation with him. She waited for Raven in the car, and after the conversation, Raven ran to her.
"Let's go, baby," Raven said and opened the door for Brienne.
"Thank you," Brienne said and fastened her seatbelt.
"Where do you want to eat?" Raven asked. "Ah, no, let me take you to the restaurant I frequent. The food there is great; you'll definitely like it," he added and smiled. Brienne's heartbeat fastened as Raven looked so handsome when he smiled. If they're going to have a boy, Brienne wanted the baby to look like Raven. She quietly looked at him while he drove, and Raven caught her staring too many times, but he didn't say anything and just held her hand.
They ate at the restaurant Raven recommended, and Brienne truly enjoyed the food. They were delicious, and she couldn't get enough.
"How was it, baby?" Raven asked while starting the car.
"It was so good! Thank you for bringing me here, Raven," Brienne said, kissing Raven on the cheeks and hurriedly putting her seatbelt on.
"What? Come on, baby! That's not fair!" Raven said, and Brienne just giggled in response. Raven intently looked at her. He just loves to see Brienne happy. He grabbed her hand and drove away.
About an hour later, they arrived at the Crescent Stone pack. Raven parked the car and got out to open Brienne's door.
"Welcome to my humble abode," Raven said. Brienne's eyes widened as she saw the house in front of her. It was huge! Her parents' house looks too small next to it.
"This is going to be your home now," he said and pulled Brienne closer to him.
"This is so..." Brienne couldn't finish her sentence. She was surprised that Raven is this rich.
"Let's go inside. I had your things moved in your room," Raven said and offered his hand. Brienne took it, and they both went inside the house. Servants immediately greeted them, and Brienne felt overwhelmed.
"We'll only have two stay-in servants here. The rest will just come and go," he said.
"Raven, welcome back, man," Carter said. Brienne squeezed Raven's hand, noticing that the man was as tall as Raven himself.
"Brienne, this is Carter; he's my friend living across the street," Raven said.
"Hi, Brienne. Raven talked about you all the time," Carter said, and Raven glared at him. Carter chuckled and offered his hand for a shake. Brienne shyly took it and smiled.
"Hi, Carter. Nice to meet you. I hope he only talks positive things about me," Brienne said, making Carter laugh.
"He did; this man is whi---" Carter couldn't finish his word because Raven covered his mouth. She laughed at the sight as the two men wrestled each other. As Brienne stayed here, she hoped that it would make her and her child happy. She hoped Raven was the person she was looking for.
