Chapter 103: ; SNAKE IN THE GREEN GRASS
XANDER
My eyes flutters open slowly, my eye lids so heavy it becomes a task to lift it, adjusting my vision is another difficult task, the whole place is grey, blurry and spinning. It’s hard to process who I am, where I am and what happened to me till my head begins to ring, a piercing, alarming sound resounding through my brain to my ears, I have to clench my teeth to keep myself from groaning out in pain.
However, everything slowly begins to swim in as the ringing dies down, the General affairs building, the Sergent, the gunshot…mother. My eyes snap open fully as the events settles in my head, adrenaline coursing through my vein as I try to move, but I’m restrained. Only now do I notice the chains around both of my ankle, both of my wrist and my neck. I’m chained in a prison. What is happening? Worse of all; I cannot recall this place but I am certain we are no longer on the ground floor of the general affairs building.
The last thing I remember is my mother bleeding in my arms while the fight went on at the background, then… Did something else happen? It does feeling like I’m missing out on something. But my head is stuck on the memories of my mother. She can’t be dead right? I know Elizabeth, I spent my whole like with her, she raised me to be this strong, she’s supposed to be stronger.
I tug on the chain to break it, Alphas are barely restricted by chains except…
“It’s the unbroken chain, you cannot break through it” A familiar voice resounds from my side, a voice that stems the thought of a thousand brutal ways to kill someone.
I slowly turn to the man beside me not registering the sight in front of me aside his face, the face that I want have a knife artwork done on. “Sergent Olive” I growl, its there a use calling him Sergent, after all he has done?
“Where is my mother?” My voice is low and filled with threat, my whole body is rigid, craving to break free from the chains and deal with the man beside me, the man that killed my mother.
“She was in your arms, you should by now be aware she’s gone” His words are nonchalant, there is not an ounce of remorse in his tone, his face is just the same.
“You fucking bastard, I’m going to kill you!” I yell, pulling on to the chains, not caring what happens with my wrist or neck, I just need to reach the bastard. My heart is tightened, my stomach churns with fury, my mind is clouded with the image of my bleeding mother.
“You will fucking pay, I will make you pay!!” My heart pounds in my chest, I can’t help but pant as I yell. The bastard throws his head back in laughter, only now do I see the chain around his neck, then his wrist, his ankle. And I realize he is chained just like me.
“You really don’t remember a thing do you, did you see me shoot your mother?” He huffs a laugh and shakes his head, while my brows knits together in confusion.
“What do you mean?” I may be stupid or maybe it’s because I already sense that something is fucked up with my thoughts.
“And would you believe me if I say a word?”
“What-“ I almost curse out when images begins to flash through my mind, my thoughts spiraling with the actual last moment of my mother and before I lost consciousness. The direction of the gun was not from Olive. Olive was on the ground and his gun was far from him but… Selene.
Selene was the closest to me and she was with a gun, I remember the fierce look in her eyes now, how she aimed the gun at my mother, and then the odd smell that filled the floor, causing m to fall into unconsciousness.
“That was faster that I expected” Olive mutters while I’m still in deep shock, gaze to the floor as the events replayed in my head and the facts “I have been deceived once again” plays in my head.
“We’ve both been captured by the Robertson. We were lied to by them, they have a bigger plan and I guess that is to eliminate, I was stupid to become their dog” Olive chuckles while I’m still in shock, barely able to lift my head up.
Cierra. I need to reach out to her, It’s not safe for her to be alone in the pack, Selene could try to deceive her, I need to get out of here, just as the thought comes, I begin to pull on to the chains harder.
“You really don’t listen” Olive hisses but I don’t mind the bastard. I have lost my mother, I cannot lose my mate too. There would be no reason for me to live. I need to get to Cierra.
“You are just wasting your time, Alpha Xander Smith, or should I call you Xander, besides your title is about to be taken along with your pack” The familiar figure walks inside majestically with smirk across her face.
“Clara”
“Oh dear” She walks closer to me with a sinister look on her face, her shoulders high as if she has the world on her shoulders.
“What have you done?”
As much as her betrayal was expected, I still can’t help but swim in disbelief, maybe it’s the fact that Selene was once my bestfriend, maybe it’s the fact that I still had a little faith in her, I still believed she holds on to a rope and still remembers how close we were.
“Nothing much” She shrugs, her high-pitched voice grating my eardrums, as I clench my fist and grind my jaws. The respect I have for the Robertsons are now long gone, and if I should I get my hands on them… their death with be recorded as the most painful death on earth.
“Your daughter killed my mother” I growl.
“And I am about to do the same with your mate” Her smile widens while my heart drops.
“Your precious cousin is bringing her to me, she will help me with the vault and I shall have my revenge on you and baby murderer family” She spits, the smile has totally disappeared from her face leaving nothing but long growing resentment.
I don’t have the time to register the fact she just made mention of a baby murderer, I don’t give a damn about her revenge but Cierra is my last strand standing, if something should happen to her, everyone in need of those treasures, I am going to make them pay and as for the Roberston, I will give them hell on earth before I kill myself.
“Don’t you dare lay a finger on my mate”
“Too late hun, she will soon be here to save you”
