Chapter 9
~Vlad~
I mind link Xylan to come and take Samara home and he came in time to save her from Veronica's assault. His hands had wrapped around her shoulders and spun her around and to his chest.
I clenched my fist at my side.
I don’t know why I hate the feeling of seeing her in the arms of another man and that wasn’t me.
If I had known Veronica would be here I would have never let Samara come with me.
Veronica was my arranged mate because of my position as the Alpha, the elders in the pack wants me to have a Luna, and Veronica had been the best choice.
Her father was an influential Alpha and we discussed it would be better for the pack if she becomes the Luna of my pack and she had eagerly accepted the offer to become my Luna.
‘Take her home, Xylan.’ I mind linking Xylan.
‘Yes, Alpha Vlad. I’ll take her away immediately’ He replied to me with his voice laced with worry.
I sighed and take my gaze back to Veronica when Xylan took her out.
I need to tell her about Samara.
I never planned for it, and it has turned out this way she might not know but the moon goddess has given me a second chance to reclaim my mate and protect my children.
I can get Samara back as my mate that was the second chance that has been granted to me by the moon goddess.
When I saw her that night, my heart had faltered and when I heard her talk about the kids, I suddenly wished I was part of the memories they shared.
I wanted to see them, I wanted them to know that they had a father and that was me.
I do not want to lose anyone that I hold dear again.
I pulled Veronica along with me to a corner and slammed her back against the wall, hard.
“You...” I called with a scowl on my face.
“Why are you here?”
“What do you mean why I am here? I’m an alpha’s daughter. I have a right to be here!” She is half yelled in my face.
“You told me you were not gonna come.” I frowned at her.
“Oh.” She scoffed loudly.
“That’s why you took another lady, right Vlad because I was not gonna be here. Everyone knows about our engagement and that I would soon be your Luna.”
“You never wanted to come!” I punched the wall over her head and she trembled in fear.
“I fucking asked you, Veronica Helms to come with me to the Gala and what did you say to me!” I was holding myself from strangling her for trying to make me look like a fool.
“I thought...It doesn’t matter. I came anywhere.” Her voice quakes a little bit and she looked elsewhere other than my face.
“And you didn’t think you should’ve told me you changed your mind and wanted to come to the Gala.”
“But you never wanted to be here either, Vlad. How was this all my fault? What about me? Who is she? Why won’t you meet my father?” She rasped her questions at me.
“I’ll meet with your father is that okay?” My frown deepened and my hand pressed her shoulder hard against the wall. I didn’t want to have this conversation with her.
She groaned slightly.
“Tell me about her, why would you bring another girl with you to the Gala?” Her sharp gaze stared shrewdly at me.
“You’re not my Luna yet Veronica. Lower your gaze.” I threatened and she took her gaze away.
I placed a hand over her head letting my hand off her shoulders.
“Tell me who she is. Who is the lady Vlad?” She half yelled. I glared at her and exhaled deeply, I wanted to say the word but I don’t know why it was stuck in my throat.
Who was Samara to me?
She was the mother of my triplets.
She was my former mate who I rejected seven years ago.
But why was it difficult to say to Veronica that was going to be my Luna in a month and moved into the pack house with me?
“Vlad!” She screamed my name and got eyes in our direction.
“Lower your voice, Veronica.” I gritted my teeth at her. She huffed and folded her arms, meeting my gaze.
I know Veronica won’t give up on it, and I can’t hide Samara either.
“She is...” I sighed and withdrew my hands from the wall, I turned my back against her and run my hands over my hair.
“She is what, why is it so difficult for you to tell me about her?” I felt her hands touch my shoulders.
“Fine!” I spun around with anger.
“She’s the mother of my triplet!” I shouted.
Veronica froze, she stepped backward from me as if she wanted to shrink into the wall. I took in a deep breath and exhaled slowly, and looked away from her to the prying eyes that were on us and the hushing voices.
I quelled them with a look, and they all turned away.
“You have children, Vlad?” Her voice quakes and she cramped the mask in her hand tightly.
“I just found out that she was pregnant for me. I never knew she was pregnant.” I explained calmly.
“When was it?” Veronica wasn’t staring at me, her gaze was on my shoes as if she was the prettiest thing she has ever seen.
“When was it that you got her pregnant?” She lives her head, her eyes were glistening with tears.
“Seven years ago.” I exhaled deeply.
“And I just found out about it, I never knew about it, Veronica. I just said that I didn’t know she was pregnant from the...” I stopped myself before I blurt out to her that I had slept with Samara the night I found out she was my name and rejected her after.
“Why did she come back, if it was seven years ago?”
“The kids are kidnapped, that's why she came to me for help and we are looking for them. That’s why she came here.” I didn’t want any misunderstanding to happen between us.
“Was it a fling?” She furrowed her brows, I averted my gaze from her face for a brief moment.
“She was my mate, former mate.”
“You rejected her then.” Veronica laughed bitterly and swept her long hair for her face wiping the tears off her face as she did.
“How did you feel Vlad? Were you happy? That you had children and she’s back into your life! Were you happy!” She yelled, her small fist hits my chest and was pushing me backward.
“Calm down, Nica, and don’t embarrass yourself in front of these people,” I growled.
“I don’t care at all!” She glanced around her and took her gaze back to me.
“How did you feel, Vlad? I bet you were happy but I don’t care about it at all if you were happy or not. I don’t care, I don’t want to care. As long as you’ve rejected her and there’s no bond between you two. I don’t care about her or her triplet.” She shouted and wiped the tears that spilled out of her eyes.
“I’ll be your Luna and that’s final! She’s in the past and that’s where she belongs.” She sniffed and pushed me out of her way.
She turned and added. “We are getting married, Vlad.”
I watched her storm away out of the hall.
How did I feel when she told me that she had my children?
I was confused, and I was not ready to accept it, it scares me that I haven’t become a father all of a sudden.
If they had come with her, I never knew how I would have acted seeing those triplets.
I thought it was all a lie but I couldn’t deny that we were together that night.
But now I was beginning to believe that I might be a father after all.
‘We have gotten home’ Xylan's voice came through the mind link.
I sighed and leaned my back against the wall.
‘How is Samara?’
‘Quiet, she’s not saying a word. You didn’t tell her about Nica?’
‘I never got the chance too. I’ll explain everything to her when I get back.’ I cut him off the mind link when I caught a glimpse of something spying on me.
I moved away from the wall and followed the path when he took.
I got into the corner I saw him dart into but there was no one there.
I saw him blend into the crowd.
Who was that?
And why was he spying on me?
“Alpha Vlad.” The voice made me turn my head and lost track of the man I was tailing with my eyes.
“Alpha Helms.” I hissed through my teeth.
He lift his glass at me with a soft smile and I took a few steps and met up with him. Veronica was by his side but wasn’t staring at me.
“Future son-in-law. I would like to introduce myself to everyone. Alpha Vlad of Crimson Pack, the Alpha with the largest pack members. Everyone this is Alpha Vlad and my distinguished son-in-law...”
