Chapter 158: 158 Enzo's confession 2

The modest police station was suddenly filled with a heavy quiet. Trying to see how Kamara would respond to Enzo's account, Caiden watched her closely, but she remained silent.

Jessie looked at Enzo within the cell, stunned. How far would he go in his quest for vengeance to the point where he would openly lie to Kamara about their own history?

"Enzo, what kind of madness is this?" Jessie asked, but her brother seemed dead serious from the look on his face. "Is Kamara really our sister?"

"I did say she was our sister," he said, clenching his teeth in a vile manner. "She is my sister. Indeed, I have been dealing with this psychosis ever since I learned of our father's adultery."

Kamara found it hard to accept this as reality. Her legs began to weaken as well.

"You're saying this only to cause me pain," Kamara's heart burned in her chest as tears filled her eyes. "My parents loved each other, they would never do such a thing."

"Kamara, you were only a child when they passed away." Enzo spoke in a deep, booming voice, and Kamara saw tears forming in his eyes, indicating that this was no joke. Do you believe I would be delighted to share this information with you? Nobody in this story is more hurt than I am."

"This can't be happening," Kamara, almost terrified as her gaze wandered.

Matt ran to get Kamara a glass of water while Caiden held her, keeping her from collapsing. There was nobody in the cell to console Jessie when she fell into the rough bed and started to scream. Everyone was taken aback by this discovery.

"When my mother first met your father, the dirty omega of the pack, she was employed by the alpha." He said the words, his tongue frothing over with rage. "People become so confused and stupid by love that they end up dating less desirable werewolves. That is the situation that arose with our parents, Kamara."

"Mother would never turn her back on Dad." Jessie objected. "You have hatred in your heart and are disappointed in them, which is why you are saying these things."

He yelled at her, "Don't be stupid, Jessie; our family had failed from the start. I was born when your father, the worthless omega caused my mother to become pregnant."

It took Enzo a while to gather himself and not lose it. Feeling helpless, Caiden cast a pitying glance at him before turning to face Kamara.

"She kept this information from us for a long time." With much difficulty, Enzo continued. "I found a letter in my father's chest when I was seventeen. It said that his adored son Enzo, who would go on to become the beta of the pack, was actually the pup of an omega, and it exposed my mother's infidelity."

Kamara's heart hurt, yet she continued to deny the fact.

"Then I discovered that this omega also had a family of his own." His eyes were filled with anger. "Also, he had rejected the bastard pup he had borne while inside my mother. I was raised to believe a falsehood, but after discovering the reality, I vowed to exact revenge on the werewolf who had caused me pain."

"What part did I play in our parents' errors?"

"Your family was peaceful and happy, but my family was decimated. I had a good father until the day he found out I wasn't his son," he said, a tear streaming down his face. I had to put up with his disdain and my mother's decline—she was never able to handle the thought of being rejected.”

Then Jessie gave him a glance that said it all. She recognized the reasons behind the breakdown in Enzo's father-son relationship. Their mother had fallen into melancholy as a result of what she had always felt was her fault. Moreover, she had been deceived for the entire duration.

"I also looked into the identity of my true father and came across you. And how devoted he was to the daughter who was younger than me," as he brushed away his tears and turned his back on her. "Knowing that wolf had betrayed his wife and left a bastard child behind, how could he possibly sleep at night? When I realized that he had given you all of his affection and left me with nothing, Kamara, I was devastated."

Kamara was at loss for words. She dropped to her knees, and Caiden was unable to support her. He gave her a strong hug, as though he was attempting to take that hurt out of her, but he couldn't.

He murmured to her, "If you want, we can leave here, Kamara."

"I'm not eager to leave." She dried her tears and got back up on her feet. She said, "I want to know everything," glancing at Enzo.

Enzo swiveled his head to look at her.

"Just like you, I too was a victim." Gazing directly into his eyes, she declared.

"A victim?" he exclaimed. "Kamara, your own parents, did not hate or treat you badly. My sister lived blissfully, but I had to endure the shame of being a bastard."

"Did my happiness cause you any trouble?" Kamara let her outright outrage run. "Enzo, I didn't know anything because I wouldn't have let this happen to you if I had known."

"Kamara, stop trying to play the innocent now." Kamara flinched as he gripped onto the bars and widened her gaze at him. "I never wanted to live with you, much less be your brother."

"So you intended to inflict pain on me?" Her inquiry made an impression on her. "You desired that I experience how you felt. When Caiden rejected me, the pain I felt then. The agony of leaving my parents behind after their deaths. The heartbreak of losing my kids to your abduction.”

Enzo chuckled. A dark smile.

"Enzo, just respond to me once." Caiden made a fruitless attempt to halt her as she got closer to him. "My parents were killed but by who? Was it Caiden or did you do it?"

His eyes darkened like a pit, and the smile vanished from his face at the question. Enzo's expression virtually transformed.

He said, "Caiden didn't do it. He's innocent." Which appalled the alpha. "A fourteen-year-old boy couldn't have killed two people the way I did, even though I got everyone to believe he was the murderer. Kamara, I got rid of your parents. I did it."

Everyone in the cell was shocked as his laughter reverberated throughout.

"How could you, someone I've always thought of as a friend, do such a thing against me?" Caiden's eyes were filled with anger. "Not only did your thirst for revenge harm Kamara, but also me, your parents, and Jessie. See how your sister, whom you professed to love so much, is suffering just look at her, Enzo."

He gave Jessie a sidelong glance as if he didn't notice her pain.

"But I succeeded in achieving my aim." He said with a smile. "Kamara experienced all of my suffering."

"That is not correct, Enzo." She raised her head and gave him a sharp look. "I am stronger than you because of the pain you gave me. I'm no longer a worthless orphan and a weak omega. I am Kamara Steele, the werewolf that triumphed against her own brother."

After giving him one final glance and seeing how her words had touched his heart, she turned to walk away.
