Chapter 22 Twenty Two

Chapter 22 Twenty Two

Lucas POV

My finger hung midway after I clicked the send button.

Me: You better be smart, Elara can use your head. Make the right decision while you still can.

I stared at the message for a second, a wicked grin pulling on my lips. Elara thought she was smart. She thought she could walk into our meeting, run her mouth and leave like she was some queen who took orders from no one?

How dare she?

I tossed my phone away, my fingers making a huge mess through my hair.

Elara was strong I had to admit that but even the strongest leaders break when their weakness is used against them. She thought she had control, but she didn’t. I would figure her weaknesses, use it against her to my own benefit. By doing so, I would bend her into seeking for my help. Making me superior and under control.

Caspian walked into the room without bothering to knock on the door.

“The southern terminals are secured. Everything has been checked. No fault yet.” He uttered behind me, startling the living daylight out of me.

“Don't you know how to knock, Caspian? Why do you have to startle me?’. I queried spinning around to face him, a frown etched on my face. My brows wrinkled.

“I am so sorry if my entrance made your heart skip a beat. I didn't mean to startle you. You have just been out of place. Lost in thoughts. Weird. Ever since you returned from your meeting with Elara, it's like she used a spell on you.”

I let out a dry laugh, shaking my head at his words.

“Spell? You think she can cast a spell on me? That woman doesn’t have what it takes to mess with my head,” I said, clearing Caspian's doubt while I walked over to my chair.

Caspian stood quiet, waiting for me to continue. “I am just annoyed. She thinks she is smart. She thinks she can talk to me anyhow and walk away.”

I grabbed my phone again, my jaw tightening. “Cery soon she will learn that despite that her syndicate has risen to fame, I still control this city,” I muttered.

Caspian nodded slowly. “Good. You need to let her understand that you are in control and besides you of all people know that I wasn't in support of you meeting with her.” He took a seat on my bed, my mattress suppressing in response to his weight.

“Tell me about it. The meeting. What did she say?”.

“She arrived before me and walked in there like she owned the basement. She was bold. Fierce. ” I began my voice sharp, anger ragging in my heart at the mere thought of Elara's audacity.

“She sat right in front of me so boldly, like she didn’t care who I was. Like she didn't know who I was. I tried to persuade her. Tried to make her listen, Caspian. Tired to make her see things from my own point of view.

“Guess what she did?” I scoffed, chewing the inside of my cheeks.

“She looked me straight in the eyes and scoffed. She insulted me right in my face and walked out like nothing happened. She had no fear, no respect. No regard m she kept running her mouth. Non.”

My fingers gripped the chair hard. “She thinks she’s untouchable now. But I swear, Caspian, I’ll make her remember who truly runs this city. I will never back down from a fight and I will fight to the very end.”

“Elara is truly driving you nuts. Who does she even take herself for? It's a shame an Omega like her that you openly rejected turned out to be a pain in the ass.”

I breathed out, my lips curling into a bitter smile.

“Exactly, Caspian. That’s what is eating me up. That's what my brain can't comprehend. I rejected her. She is supposed to have crawled away like other Omega wolves would. But no she wouldn't. She just became stubborn and overambitious. Elara built herself up for two bloody years and now she’s walking around like she is some Queen in a majestic castle and the worst is that she is making me look weak in front of my men. In front of the other smaller pack.” I ragged, slamming my palm on the table

“She thinks I am going to let her grow more wings. I am going to trim her wings off, bit by bit. She thinks this is over, but I will show her I don’t play games if I am sure I wouldn't win. She’ll either submit to my demands and sign a deal with me or I’ll make her suffer by crushing that little empire of hers piece by piece. I’m not done with her yet. This is just the beginning.”

“I have heard that line about fifty times since you saw Elara for the first time after two years. You better act and not just say mere words. That woman has to know her place.” Caspian thundered.

I nodded, my jaw clenching hard.

“This time, I will act. This is not a time for talks. No more talks, no more empty threats. I will break her pride and drag her back to the ground where she belongs.” I vowed.

I didn't know if my words were channeled by anger or jealousy but I couldn't stop.

“I will hit her from every corner. From her supplies to her allies. She will have no place to hide when I am done dealing with her. I'll let her feel the pain of challenging me. I'll let her taste defeat and regret ever standing up to me. I'll make her realize she is nothing but a weak Omega. I run this city, Caspian. No one can stand up to me, especially not if Elara succeeds in trying to rise above me. I will crush her and make her beg for my help.” I swore, my gaze darkened. My eyes are void of emotions.
