Chapter 63

Jake

“It’s not my business to worry and care about you?” I ask her, turning her question into a positive. “I’m sorry Han but you don’t get a choice in that, I love you, no matter what.”

She closes her eyes and screws her face up at the mention of my loving her, as if the very thought is disgusting to her.

“You want to know why I went to the bar tonight Jake?” She asks as she moves in closer towards me, backing me up against a wall. “I went there to meet someone who deserved my touch.”

She presses her body against me, leaving me no room to escape and maneuvers her knee between my legs, to spread them out so that the towel falls. She has me naked before her. I can’t control my dick, it’s growing hard even though I’m willing it to stay limp.

“Then why are you here now?” I ask her, hoping it’s because she realised she wanted me back. I know my chances are slim though.

“Because I had my fun with him and I wanted to share with you, every dirty detail of how he satisfied my needs.” She teases me, laughing as she shimmers herself along my body.

“Hannah, don’t,” I beg her and she giggles mercilessly.

“Don’t tell you that his tongue swirled around mine when he kissed me?” She fires her first grenade, right at my heart. “Does that hurt you, Jake?”

“You know it hurts me, Hannah,” I tell her, unable to hide my pain. My stomach churns, sickened by the very image of any man kissing her.

“Does it hurt you to know that his hands caressed my breasts so generously that he made my nipples hard?” She pushes on, taking one of my hands and forcing it onto her breast.

“It kills me,” I admit, not pulling my hand away because I desperately need to feel her body, even if it is like this.

“Then you’ll probably die inside when you hear that he made love to me. Hot, passionate, love and I came three times as he pounded himself into me over and over and over.” She plays her final card, knowing that she’s won when she sees how crushed I am. She’s shattered me, taken my worst fear and made it happen and there’s no going back now.

She moves back from me, satisfied that she achieved what she came here for and I don’t try to stop her now, not wanting to hear any more details about her night with him because it breaks me. I scramble for the towel and wrap it around my waist so tightly, trying to conceal my now limp dick from her.

She walks over to the front door but stops and turns just before she’s about to step outside. I brace myself for what she’s about to hit me with, assuming it’s going to be worse than what she’s already told me.

“Why didn’t you mark me, Jake?” She asks, her voice sombre and her eyes pained. “You had the perfect opportunity to put your mark on me last week but you didn’t.”

Her question surprises me, not because she wants to know why I didn’t mark her when I had the chance but more so because I would have thought it would have been the last thing on her mind right now, considering she hates me.

“I wanted us, marking each other, to be something special, not just because we were having sex.” I try to explain but I can see she’s not believing me.

“Special?” She scoffs, shaking her head.

“I had a plan, we’d go out for dinner, have some champagne, make the night a celebration because that’s what I believe marking each other should be. Not just doing it in the throes of passion.” I tell her, wanting her to understand that I had put plenty of thought into marking her. “I wanted it to be a night you’d remember forever.”

“Well, in a way, you’ve done me a favour by not marking me.” She says so coldly. “Now I can be free to move on without having your claim on me.”

It’s another blow, more powerful than even the thought of her being with someone else because this means that any untaken wolf could claim her. I could lose her completely but I also know that not all wolves care about the rules, they go after an unmarked wolf during the full moon and then try to blame her heat for the attack.

“Be careful Hannah, the full moon will bring on your heat and you may attract unsavoury wolves who can’t control their urges,” I warn her, hoping she heeds it because I don’t want her to become a victim of an attack.

“Jake, I’m stronger than any other she-wolf in the pack, you really think I’m going to be affected by my heat?” She scoffs, confident that she can withstand the excruciating pain that unmarked she-wolves experience during the first night of a full moon each month.

“Hannah, I’ve seen unmarked she-wolves in heat, the pain they experience is unbearable to most.” I try again to warn her but I can see that she doesn’t believe it will happen to her.

“Nice try Jake, you’re just trying to scare me into allowing you to mark me.” She accuses me, radiating anger as she stares me down. “I don’t want or need anything from you.”

“Message received, loud and clear.” I fire back, insulted that she would even think that that was my motive. If she wants to be cold towards me then I can ice her out too. I’m the king of frost, I’ve been shutting others out for years now. “I’ll see you Friday for the meeting, at the cottage but I don’t want you showing up here anymore.”

“I won’t be back, you’re the last person I’d want to see.” She says as she turns and leaves, not even bothering to shut the door behind her.
