Chapter 43 CHAPTER FORTY-THREE
CHAPTER FORTY-THREE
CATHERINE’S POV
The air around me was filled with dust, and a piece of cloth clung to my eyes, making it difficult for me to see through it. I was fucking blindfolded.
I tried to move, then felt a sharp pain in my wrist, my wrist was painfully tied around a pole, and I wiggled to set myself free but it only amounted to more pain.
“Where the hell am I?” I asked, turning my head around.
I couldn’t see, but all my senses were screaming. The floor I sat on was cold against my skin, bringing me discomfort.
I tried to recall what had happened earlier, but the memory was blurry, the only thing I could remember was pain, sharp fucking pains all over my body.
I wanted to scream, but my strength betrayed me, my wolf whimpered inside me, she must have been weakened.
“What do you want?” I asked again, turning my head round, even if I couldn’t see a thing. “Untie me please”
My heart raced, and sweat gathered on my forehead. I tried to call out again, but my throat was dry with panic, so I whimpered, “Hello…. Please who is it?”
“Do not strain yourself, Zaria” I heard Elara’s voice from the corner, and relief washed through me.
“Elara?” I whispered, turning my head to the direction of her voice “Elara, is that you? Please untie me before they come for me?” I pleaded, as her footsteps got closer. “What the hell is happening? This isn’t funny!”
A low chuckle escaped from her lips, “Funny, this is far from being funny” She replied, with her voice lacking the usual comforting tone, that drew me to her in the first place. “This is more than funny”
Flashback of what happened earlier crossed my mind, tears began to soak the blindfold, as I recalled the conversation she had with a stranger later.
Elara was the mastermind of everything, at the same time the closest to the Alpha, how could she betray her pack?
“You fucking betrayed your pack!” I cried, and she burst into laughter.
Soon her laughter subsided into a sob. “They ruin my family, my sister, and they would pay”
“Max did nothing to you, he was your fucking family” I spat out, with venom in my tone.
I felt her presence closer, her scent hitting my nose harshly.
“Family?” She repeated, in mockery. “I thought I was, I cleaned his mess as well as that of his father, and when it was time to stand by me, they fucking broke me”
She was just speaking in parables, I didn’t know what secrets lay in the palace, but I know Max is not one to stir up trouble.
Elara was speaking from a heart of pain, making me wonder what they did to her that turned her into this monster.
I could feel her eyes on me through the blindfold, “I will send your carcass to Max, and watch him weep over your dead body” she said, laughing at her words.
“Please” I pleaded, struggling with the rope. “If you release me and come clean, I will make sure that Max doesn’t do anything hurtful to you, I promise”
“If you know what is hidden in that secluded corridor, you won't be Max’s plaything” She mocked.
Not the secluded corridor again, I could recall Elara had specially told me to stay off the corridor, why would she want me in now?
“I thought you warned me against it?” I asked and she chuckled.
“Yes, I wanted to expose it to you myself, that was why I told Raymond that you were going to the secluded corridor, so he could stop you” She laughed, stepping away from me.
Shit! I wondered how Raymond knew I was in the corridor, but I never suspected Elara of snitching. She was a piece of fucking shit, a smart one at that.
“Elara, If I am part of your revenge plan, please exclude me” I cried. “I know nothing about the secluded corridor and I don’t want to know”
“You are so dumb!” She huffed, irritated. “He did something abominably just because he is the Alpha and you don’t want to expose him?”
I don’t want to be any part of the palace fight, as I won’t be Luna for long, The palace wars are always messy and I don’t want to be a part of it.
“It is Gwen that is the real Luna, you can tell her the secret not me” I pleaded, with my lips forming a thin line.
I was getting exhausted and my blood was draining as seconds passed by but I tried to hold my head up high.
“He doesn’t see Gwen!” She said, stating the obvious. Something I wished not to hear. “He sees you”
“Everything in the secluded corridor is related to you, who you are, and what you represent” She continued, making me more confused.
What the fuck do I represent? Who the fuck am I?
Numerous questions swelled up in my head, but I shook them away, all I need right now is my fucking freedom.
I opened my mouth to speak when I heard someone cough, a masculine cough, from the corners of the room,
I hadn’t noticed someone else was there, his presence seemed familiar, his scent was undeniably familiar as well.
I knew him, but my head was too messed up to figure out the puzzle.
“I know you” I whispered, turning in the direction of the cough. “I can feel your familiar presence”
I began to sense his discomfort, confirming that I knew the asshole working with Elara.
“You need to rest now, Zaria” Elara said, gripping my shoulder to put me still.
I struggled for my freedom to no avail.
A needle pierced the soft skin of my neck.
“ No…” I gasped, feeling some cold liquid entering my body.
I began to lose my strength slowly, and my eyes closed involuntarily.
“Did you drug me?” I managed to ask, regardless of the pain.
“Yes,” she replied before I blacked out.
