Chapter 20 CHAPTER TWENTY
CHAPTER TWENTY
MAX’S POV
Bang! The sound of the gunshot cracked, disturbing the peace of the palace, and the sparrow dropped to the floor.
“That is the sixth Sparrow Max,” Raymond said, crossing his legs, as he sat on the wooden chair, close to where I stood.
Zaria doesn't want anything to do with me, and the thought of it hurts, a lot. She looked me in the eyes and said it.
The air was cold, but I barely felt it, inside me was burning with anger, rage, and hurt. And this kind of rage makes my wolf restless, so I have to release my anger, shooting sparrows wasn't helping though.
I ignored Raymond and lifted the gun again, with my hands steady and my eyes fixed on the sparrow. I pulled the trigger, and another sparrow fell lifeless to the ground, making it seven.
“You need to relax, and speak to her again!” Raymond continued with his voice low. “Besides you don't have to scare the creatures away, try punching a tree.
I reloaded, and shot at another bird, leaving it to fall lifeless to the floor.
I lowered my gun, placing the butt on my hips, then I turned to Raymond, who was taking a drag from his cigarettes.
“And leave blood on my knuckles?” I huffed. “I would rather shoot at birds, the mess is easier to handle”
He stood up, shoving his pocket into his pants, and walked towards me.
He gave me a cigarette, I lit it up and took a drag, fuck! I needed that.
“I know that girl…”
“Don't call her that, she is the Luna and my wife, her name is Zaria” I interrupted, cutting him shut.
Calling her my wife, felt like a lie, a lie that I wanted to believe desperately.
“Right, Zaria, your wife who is the Luna” He agreed, with a smile. “She is frightened, you tried to kiss her, and her sister walked in, what the fuck were you expecting?”
He was right, but his words couldn't mend my broken heart, her cold words played in my head repeatedly.
“Have you spoken to Ethan?” I asked, taking a drag from my cigarettes and spraying it in the air restlessly.
“You don't have to change the topic because you feel Vanearble,” Raymond hissed. “It's okay for an Alpha to be heartbroken”
“I am fine Ray, I can handle it,” I smiled, it was a fake smile and Ray knew, I can't fucking handle it.
“I am not going to push you,” He said cooly, and I was glad he knew I was in no mood to talk about my feelings.
I dropped the gun to the ground and the guard, quickly picked it up, placing it back where it belonged.
I waved my hands, and they excused Raymond and me.
“Now tell me about the motherfucker, Ethan,” I said, taking a seat.
“He is fine, quite an interesting guy!” he smiled, I looked at Raymond closely, a weird tension was radiating from him.
“I hope that's it, Ray,” I asked, and he nodded.
“I actually thought, he was like an asshole, because of how much you hate him, but he's a fucking nice guy,” He giggled, bitting his bottom lip.
I heard a hint of something in his voice, something I can't place but I was certain it was bad. Raymond is too excited, just by talking about Ethan.
“Don't do something stupid Raymond, you are married to Isabella and she is an amazing woman,” I reminded him giving him a hard look.
Raymond is an amazing friend, Beta, and Father but he is a terrible husband to Isabella. He had never been loyal to Isabell, and she always forgave him.
Raymond never knew he was bisexual, until he had a one-night stand with a random guy, and since that day he has battled with his loyalty.
Raymond's smile disappeared and was replaced by a frown. “Come on man, I know I am married and Isabella is chill with it”
“She isn't, and don't make her regret ever forgiving you, for your past mistake, She deserves better man!” I growled.
Isabella reminded me of my mum, she stayed with my dad, ignoring how horrible he treated her. My father was a great dad and I loved him, but hated when he made my mum feel like shit.
“I respect you, but you don't get to interfere with my marital life, please,” Raymond said, with a hard gulp.
I raised my hand in surrender; “Okay, suit yourself, man”
We fell into silence for a while, before I spoke up. “How is the investigation going, did you get anything from Ethan?”
“No, Ethan is too loyal to Zaria and would never do anything to hurt her,” Raymond shrugged and I couldn't tell if Raymond was telling the truth or his lust for Ethan was speaking for him.
I hated to hear how much Ethan cared for Zaria, but I had no choice but to listen to it.
“What about the investigation?” I asked, shoving Ethan off my thoughts. “Could you find the killer?”
“Ethan made an opinion about this and…”
“I don't want to hear his damn opinion in this!” I growled, staring at him, in anger.
I am scared of him being the hero in front of Zaria. The thought of that sickens me.
“If you want to find Zaria’s killer, he has to help!” Raymond rolled his eyes, angry at my sudden outburst.
“We took Ethan in, not for his opinions, just for interrogation!” I snapped, making a fist with my thumb.
“His opinion seemed more reliable than whatever you have contributed to this investigation!l” Raymond snapped back. “Oh, I can remember what you contributed, Nothing!”
Raymond was right, I sound like a child, and I was jealous for no reason, we need to find Zaria’s killer and we would need Ethan’s help, I have to suck it up.
“What is this opinion of his?” I asked.
“Well he thinks the killer is Gwen and he has a way to prove it!” Raymond smiled, staring at me.
