Chapter 110: Confrontation

HIM

There's something specific about my female that I love more than anything: The sparkle in her eyes when she sees me. It might be presumptuous of me, but her eyes have the ability to reveal everything she feels to me. If they asked me where the bond between soulmates resides, I would say it's in the eyes.

Every morning I wake up beside her, after a kiss or when I make her climax, she gifts me with the same look, the same smile. My nature falls silent before her eyes, the entire universe stops just to contemplate her.

Yes, I don't understand romance at all, but that's how she makes me feel, complete and whole.

Not today, though, because today, the whole day, my Little Luna is ignoring me. She didn't agree to sit on my lap during the meal, and I assented, imagining she was embarrassed in front of her friend, Luna Rebecca.

Then, during the farewell, I was patient; my female was emotional, saying goodbye to her friend and savior, who was going to a very distant land, not knowing when they would see each other again. I was patient when she hugged the members who left the pack for the exchange, I tried hard to be tolerant when she hugged the male.

Too inappropriate for a marked female, but I held back my nature, as I wouldn't see them again.

As far as I'm concerned, he'll never get close to her again...

I bit my tongue to hold back my wolf's growl when she dared to hug the bastard Alpha Freyr, and the son of a bitch looked at me smiling and called her sister.

Sister my ass!

The image of him headless was repeatedly played by the beast in my mind. Nadja was going too far, allowing the stench of another male to reach her skin.

The discomfort was turning into anger, not at her, but at the colorless-furred Alpha. If he took any longer to leave, I would color them red.

When the White Wolves left, I sent a troop to accompany them for a few days' journey, to escort them, and, as I informed the general sent, to ensure they had no pretext to return.

My nature was distressed; the only male scent that should come from my female was mine. I went to her to hug her and calm down, but she pulled away and grabbed Sunna's arm, without even looking at me.

When I called her name, she informed me that she had an important matter to resolve with Sunna and Tabitha, and left without even giving me a glance.

My mood had deteriorated when I entered my office.

My wolf whimpered that our Luna was rejecting us and blamed me for pushing her away. I sat in my chair trying to figure out what I had done wrong, but got no answer. In the morning, we were fine, what could have happened between the moment she left our room and the midday meal?

— Is everything alright, Alpha? — Eli asked, hesitantly.

If he's hesitating, he knows he shouldn't ask a damn thing!

— Why are you asking that stupid question?

— Uh... Nothing... Sorry, Alpha.

My Beta lowered his head, in a way he hadn't since... Since before I found Nadja.

— Tell me something, Eli... Did you notice your Luna a little different today?

— Luna Nadja? No, sir, why? Did something happen between you two?

What? Didn't he notice anything different? Was it normal for her to act as if I didn't exist?

— Nothing happened, don't be nosy! — I felt her essence approaching. — Talk about something else, hurry up!

— Something else? — The Beta stared at me, confused. — What, Alpha?

I'm surrounded by idiots!

Without waiting for a knock, I went to the door and opened it. My Female was on the other side, accompanied by Eda.

— What are you doing here, female? — I asked Eda, whom I had already forbidden from approaching my residence. — Your place is at the back of the harem!

— I invited her to come here, Alpha Derik, is there a problem with that?

I love my Little Luna more than anything in this life, I strive every day to become a better male for her, I exercise my patience with her mischievous girl ways, but there are limits for an Alpha to endure.

Alphas are dominant, possessive, and... did I already say dominant?

It was no longer me who stared at her, but my wolf, because I preferred to give control to him rather than to the beast. My hand was on her neck before she could blink.

— Are you acting against my orders, female? —  My nature growled low, teeth bared.

I felt the stench of Eda's fear mix with Nadja's, but my Luna's eyes were full of determination.

—  I am not acting against your orders, Alpha, I come as Luna of this pack in defense of one of my females who was terribly wronged!

My wolf sniffed her neck and licked her mark, then bit her. A weak bite, without inoculating toxin, just a form of reprimand and possession.

Eda was cowering with her head down, but she stayed by Nadja's side. Beta Eli was in a corner of the room, observing everything in silence.

I released her neck and moved back a little, unsure of what she wanted.

— Your female is a traitorous murderer, she was judged and condemned as such, what injustice are you referring to?"

— Her condemnation was illegal! —  She said as she placed her hand on Eda's shoulder.

— On what do you base that, Luna? —  I asked in a calmer voice, her essence calming my nature.

She frowned and pouted slightly. She was angry.

— You, my Alpha, lied to me! You gave me your word that there were no breeders in this pack!

Ah... Was that why she ignored me all day? To turn against me for a whore who wanted to see her dead? And I didn't lie a damn thing!

—  And there weren't, Luna Nadja, Eda was judged and demoted to breeder after that conversation!

She seemed to get even angrier at my response.

— I demand the annulment of the judgment and the consequent penalty!
