Chapter 61: New Arrivals - Part 2
Darius’s P.O.V.
That girl will be the death of me. How is it that she can drive me wild with just a smile? Now that she knows the truth about my family, I can relax and work to help my real dad take back his throne. It was his idea that we develop something else that could help my kind to survive, instead of feeding on humans and animals. He always only wanted what was best for all of us. Losing my mom almost killed him. That fucker who drained her was sent by my adopted dad to kill her. Only, they didn’t know that she was pregnant with me already. So when my Lestat came back from his travels, he found her dead and buried, and me gone.
A few years later, he found me in the castle with my uncle, calling him dad. He was left shaken so badly that he nearly killed everyone around the room. Now that I am old enough, with my 18th birthday that passed the day before, I met my beautiful bride. I knew something was different about me when I woke up. Dad came to me and gave me a gift that Mom had bought for me when they found out that they were expecting me. Dad called me the missing link. The link he has been looking for since he found Mom’s grave. So when I looked at the gift, a simple signet ring, without our family crest on it, the only difference was that there were angel wings around the crest, and a lycan holding the crest.
When I asked Dad about it, he told me that I would know what it meant when the time is right, and that I would know without anyone telling me. So, when I met her, I knew she must be the lycan, but I only realized that she was the angel as well when she got her grace and spread her beautiful wings open wide. My ring started glowing the same glow that she was glowing, just not as bright. I knew I had to tell Dad, but with my uncle around, parading as king, I could not risk it. So when they were all here last night, Dad was also here. I passed him a note, and I could see that he had read it before they all had returned through the portals that were created for them. His eyes were glowing with pride, and he just slightly nodded at me before looking at my bride with awe and pride. I know he is proud, and I know Mom would have been proud, too.
I reach the training grounds where the rest of the guys are talking about classes, training, and the elite team. I take my time walking up to them, because we have more than enough time before we need to leave for class. I catch Drake looking up at me, and I nod at him as I reach the group and greet everyone. “Managed to finish what you needed to do?” Drake spoke to me quietly, as he was the only one who knew where I was and why I was there. “Yes, thank you.” We rejoined the conversation with the rest of the guys, and I could sense her behind me. She slid her hands and her arms around my waist, kissing my neck, forcing me to grab her hands, bring her around to stand in front of me. She smiled at everyone as all the girls greeted the guys. Bending down, I whispered in her ear. “Cher, we could always skip class today and spend the whole day together, but I doubt your friends would like you skipping out on them. We have all night to be together.” As I spoke the last word, I softly bit the tip of her ear, earning me the softest of moans. She quickly recovered and checked to see if anyone noticed.
We started walking towards our classes when Athos and Louis came running towards us. “Guys, we have been looking for all of you. No classes today, go to the training center now.” They ran to find more Elite team members and candidates. We made our way to the center, helped our new friends get their gear, and showed them where to get changed. Waiting in the middle of the hall that was our training center, we heard the doors open and turned to see who was walking in. To our surprise, it was all the leaders from last night. My dad was with them, and my uncle and aunt, my adopted parents, are in cuffs. But how, you cuff my kind, unless it's pure silver, and most creatures can’t handle pure silver. Unless… Those markings, their incantation markings. So normal steel cuffs, but still powerful enough to keep a vampire locked up. Only angels know what incantations to use; it has to be Nokian. Michelle’s mom and uncle, or maybe Gabriel and Luke. Either way, my uncle and aunt never had any children of their own, not pure blood nor turned. Maybe that’s why they adopted me, instead of killing me.
