Chapter 54: Drake's Mate
The next morning, Drake woke up feeling groggy and out of place. After his shower, he left a note for the others who were still asleep, as it was only 05h30 in the morning. Curfew only ended at 06h00, but he had to find out if Michelle was ok. He made his way across to the girls' dorm and found Darius and Michelle on their way out of the dorm. He walks straight into a hug with his sister and just holds her for a few minutes. Letting her go, he looked her over, “You ok?” She twirled around, like she used to when they were little. “I’m good.” She smiled at him. He looked over at Darius and, for the fleetest moment, saw a very protective look in his eyes. “Thank you for taking care of her last night. I’, sorry for the way I spoke in the early hours this morning on the phone. I just get worried about her.”
Darius shook his hand and smiled. “You do realize that once we are done with school, there will be a ceremony held at my parents' castle to celebrate this union between our 2 families.” Drake laughed, “Now that is one party I am not missing. I would love to see what your Kingdom looks like.” As they turned to walk away to meet up with the others, Drake froze and sniffed the air. A soft, delicate scent of lavender, mountain breeze, and ocean air hit his nose, and his wolf pushed forward, “MATE!!!!!” Just then, another door to the dorm room across the hall from Michelle and Stella’s room opened up. A short, petite girl with long black hair and the biggest sky blue eyes walked out. She stopped short in her tracks and looked at Drake. He walked to her. Fenrir wanted to pull his mate to him and smell her scent. “Mine.” He spoke to her so gently that she wasn’t sure if it was meant for her to hear.
She looked at him, put her hand out and introduced herself, “Immmm…Hi…I am Ember, princess of the Dragon Clans.” Drake took her hand and shook it gently, scared he might hurt her. “Hi, I am Drake. I am sorry, my wolf, Fenrir, really wants to say hi. I am….” She smiled, “I know who you are, Your Highness, son of King Dominique and Queen Celine, prince of all wolves.” Just then, Drake’s hand and arm started burning, and a glowing pattern started forming all the way up his arm, to his neck, and down over one side of his chest. Fenrir howled in pain, but as soon as Ember touched his cheek, the pain went away. “I am sorry, I didn’t know I would meet my fated here, or so soon…” Michelle looked at her… “That is what happens when you meet your fated?” Ember looked at her, “Yes, I am a dragon. Normally, my kind ends up choosing a mate, because meeting your fated is so scarce, especially for the royal family. Our kind has started to dwindle in numbers thanks to humans. But since the treaty was struck, my cousin found her fated mate in a clan just west of our castle. So the hope was there, but it wasn’t very strong.”
She looked at Drake, and he just opened his arms. She walked into the hug, wrapped her arms around his waist, and sighed contentedly. Drake kissed the top of her head, and he realized that she was at least a head and a half shorter than he was. “I hope your parents won’t mind, but you will need to move to our Kingdom, as you will become my queen. Just like my sister will be moving to Darius’s Kingdom to become his Queen. Ember looked up, “Your sister?” She looked around at Michelle and Darius. “I am so sorry, Your Highness, I seem to have lost my manners.” Michelle smiled, “That’s ok. I am Michelle. This is my mate and the prince of the vampires, Darius.” They shook hands and started walking out of the dorms.
When they walked out the main building doors, Stella and the others were walking towards the dorm building. When Stella saw Michelle, she ran to her and pulled her into a hug. “You're ok, you really are ok.” Michelle hugged her back, “Yes, I am. Thank you for all you did for me yesterday. OH, and Drake found his mate. Guys, this is Ember, Dragon Princess. Ember, this is Stella, she is a white witch, and the granddaughter of the high witch of the covenant. This is Neil, he is human, and I just realized, he is also the brother of Louis, our one trainer. Then, this is Remus, my one cousin and Stella’s mate, and this is my other cousin, and twin to Remus, Lumus.” They shook hands, and Neil looked at her, confused.
“How did you figure out I am Louis’s brother?” She turned to him and shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know, I just felt it.” Stella’s went large. “Michelle, your angelic abilities, just like your mom, you can tell who and what people are. You can see their true form.” Ember also got excited about something none of them knew. “Wait, that was you yesterday… I felt it, we dragons are very entuned to angels. Many centuries ago, there was a holy war between demons and angels. The humans helped out, but they split into 2 factions: 1 supported the demons, and the other supported the angels. But then the demons started using beasts to fight with them. So, the dragons decided to help the angels. My great, great-grandfather was one of those dragons; he was only 16. His father was killed in the war, and he just ascended to the throne.”
Everyone looked at her and listened with undivided attention. “One of the arc angels, Michael, was injured. He went to help and protect Michael, but the angel’s wound was fatal. While he lay on the ground, my great, great-grandfather took a small piece of his heart and gave it to Michael. It helped him heal, and they fought through the entire war as friends and allies. “Ember, the angel you are talking about, that is my uncle, and Remus and Lumus’s father.” Ember looked at them, Ember looked at them, turning to Drake, “Wait, your mom is the warrior angel Celine, who is also a hybrid?” “Yes, little one. She is. Why?” Ember was shocked and a little in awe. “I have species histories as a subject, and I know for a fact, all the species have a prophecy of her and her mate, and their children. I also know that within each species, if something is not meant to be seen by someone, the part of that prophecy is hidden, until it has happened.” They were not sure what she meant by this, but they knew she was telling the truth, because each of them had looked at the various books within their libraries, and there were blank pages, so they all assumed it was meant to be blank. But now they know why it was blank…
