Chapter 56 Coffee Shop
Liam’s POV
“Any news on Lady Grey?” I said as I sat on my chair in my office.
“No, it’s like she doesn’t even exist. No one has heard of her even on the dark web,” Josh said.
I frowned. After what happened with Sarah and her friend, I needed to hurry and find out who Lady Grey was and what she wanted with Elena.
“What about the lead on Reginald’s wife’s sister?” I asked.
“I asked Scott to ask around if anyone had seen her but he hasn’t found anything yet.”
I sighed. We weren’t getting anywhere with this.
“Okay then but keep looking.”
“Okay Alpha,” he said and he left my office.
I went back to work.I had barely spent any time with Elena ever since we found out about Lady Grey.
When I was done with work, I would steal her away.
Mate needs to get marked. Connor said.
I agree but she needs time and we don’t want our mate to hate us for rushing her.
Connor didn’t say anything for a while. No we don’t, but she will carry our mark.
I nodded in agreement.
I went through all we had found out about Lady Grey and her workers.
The two men that kidnapped Sarah were just lap dogs who did those kinds of jobs for people. No wonder their hiding place was poor.
The guard at the council meeting was also the same, all of them were just random people that she got to work for her.
At least the men weren’t brainwashed unlike the guard.
Reginald was the only person we had that knew more about Lady Grey.
I stood up immediately.
Scott. I said through the link.
Yes Alpha? He said.
I need you to get ready and come with me.
Okay Alpha.
I took my jacket and went out of my office.
The only one who knew one who knew about Lady Grey was Reginald, but Reginald also had people who knew and worked for him.
Josh get me a report on Reginald’s workers. I said opening the link to Josh.
Of course, do you have a lead?
I think so. I got into the car and scoot came in too.
I thought about stopping to tell Elena that I was leaving the pack but I knew this was going to be quick.
The drive to Reginald’s town was long but then we finally got there.
The town looked even worse than before, there were no kids running around.
“Keep your senses up,” I told Scott and he nodded.
We drove through the old and abandoned houses. There was really no one living here anymore.
After that shooting that happened that day, Reginald’s hideout had been exposed and Josh had told me the exact location.
We walked into the place and I froze when I saw what happened.
There were bodies everywhere.
“Who did this?” Scott asked.
“Lady Grey,” I said. I knew she would never leave any trace behind but this was madness.
They were women and kids too among the pile of bodies.
“I’m going to be sick.” Scott said and he did look paler.
I moved around carefully. “Look for any survivors,” I told Scott.
He nodded and moved ahead of me.
The place looked like a hell house.
“I don’t think anyone survived, Alpha,” Scott came back to me.
“Let’s go then,” I said trying to hold back my anger.
This woman was one step ahead of me and it was driving me crazy.
We got back to the car.
“Scott I need you to gather some men and watch over this place, I have a feeling someone might come back to the scene.”
“Of course Alpha.”
We drove back to the pack in silence.
There had to be something or someone I was missing.
Someone on the inside was working for Lady Grey and I needed to find out who.
We got to the pack house and I was heading to see Elena when someone called me.
“Alpha!” I turned around to see Clara running towards me.
“What happened?”
“It’s Elena. Her sister came to see today and she asked me to leave to talk but after a while when I came back to check on her, they weren’t there,” she tried to catch her breath. “I asked the guards and they told me that the Luna had gone out with her sister and two guards but Liam, that was two hours ago.”
No.
Not Elena again. If Lady Grey got to her then she was gone.
Fuck.
“Gather my men,” I said and moved back to the car.
I didn’t wait for Clara and the others.I drove into town.
Please be safe Elena. I prayed.
We got into town quickly.
“Scott, can you track Elena?”
“Yes,” he said. Apart from being a good fighter, Scott was a true tracker and the best we had.
He began sniffing. “I think she went in that direction,” he pointed to a building up front.
As we got closer, it was a coffee shop.
I didn’t waste any time and moved in. I walked up to the woman who was serving coffee to people.
“Excuse me, have you since a lady with black curly hair and purple eyes?”
She stared at me for a while and blushed. “Sorry, yes I have, she came her with someone else, her stuff is still on the table. I think she went to use the restroom.”
I felt a little relieved. So, she was okay. But I still needed to see her.
“Thank you, where is the restroom?”
“The floor below.”
“Okay,” I said. Why would anyone have a shop with such a weird design. I thought.
Scott and I moved to the restroom.
I froze as I saw the door to the restroom was broken there.
I controlled myself and moved to the restroom.
I froze again when I saw what had happened.
Elena had a blade in her hand and was stabbing a man again and again but he was already dead.
“Elena,” I said softly.
“Liam?” she stopped and looked at me. “Ashley…”
I looked over at her sister, she had bled out and wasn’t moving.
“It’s okay,” I told her.
“Liam.” she said and then she passed out.
“Elena!” I ran towards her and carried her in my arms. There was so much blood but I was happy it wasn’t hers.
“Alpha, she’s still alive but her pulse is weak,” Scott said as he got to Ashley.
“We need to move now, she’s lost a lot of blood.”
Scott carried Ashley as I held Elena tightly to my body.
She was safe but I was more concerned about what the fuck happened here and what she had done.
