Chapter 28 Mate Bond
Liam’s POV
I was enjoying my time with Elena when Josh links me about the preparation to head north.
I almost forgot about that.
I tell Elena I need to leave and she looks at me like she wants me to stay but she lets me go.
I head back to the pack house.
“Any more leads?” I ask when I see Josh.
“No but she said that the man in black is back in town but her sources don’t know when he will leave.”
“Then we need to hurry and start making plans to leave.”
“You are coming too?”
“Of course I am,” I stare at him.
“It’s just that, I was thinking about the pack and who is going to take care of it,” Josh said.
“I will think about that, don’t worry. We aren’t leaving immediately,” I said.
Josh nods and continues with what he’s doing, while I go look for Scott and Clara.
I link them. Clara, Scott meet me outside the pack house.
Yes, Alpha. They said together.
When I get outside the pack house, I see Clara and Scott waiting there.
“Alpha Liam,” Scott bows while Clara rolls her eyes. I know how she feels, Scott is always so formal around me.
“I have something to ask you two, so we have new information about who is behind the rogues’ attack and the guard at the meeting, but I need to leave with Josh,” I turn to Scott. “And I need Scott to come with me for this.”
“Wait, me? What about Clara? She’s stronger than me,” Scott said.
“Yes but I need Clara here in case anything happens and I need you because your nose is really good at tracking.”
“He’s right Scott, you do have a big nose,” Clara laughs as she pushes Scott with her elbow.
“Very funny,” He frowned. “When are we leaving Alpha?”
“In two days, I expect you to be ready by then,” I looked at him, he looked nervous but smiled.
“I will Alpha, thank you for this.”I thought he was going to be scared but he looked really happy and excited.
“Okay then, Clara, you watch over the pack and Elena.”
“Yes Alpha,” she said.“You can go,” I said.
I walked back to the orphanage.
“It’s okay Jane, Alpha Liam is not going away, he will be right back tomorrow,” Grace looks worried as she tells Jane to calm down.
I look around but I don’t see Elena anywhere.
“Did Elena leave already?” I ask and Grace finally notices me standing there.
“Oh Alpha Liam, um, she left a while ago,” she says as Jane looks around her and sees me.
“Liam you are back, she didn’t take you away,” She runs and hugs my legs.
“Who didn’t take me away?”
“Your friend, a girl told her that if she stayed she would make you go away and we would never see you again, that made me sad,” she looked like she was going to start crying again.
“It’s okay, I’m still here but I have to go, but I will come back tomorrow,” I said, hoping she believes me.
“Promise?”
“I promise,” I smiled at her and turned to Grace.
“Do you know what she is talking about?”
Grace shakes her head. “I don’t, I just saw her outside with the Luna and she was crying.”
I just nod and leave the room, going back to the pack house.
I needed to see Elena.
I got to Elena’s room and knocked on her door but she didn’t answer.
“Elena, it’s me, Liam, I’m coming in,” I open the door and Elena is lying down and a small bag is on her bed.
“Elena, look at me.” But she doesn’t turn, I moved closer and close the door and then I notice that she is shaking.
I move to her front immediately and she is crying.“Hey, what’s wrong,” I said, cleaning her tears from her cheeks.
“I need to leave here, Liam and you need to stay away from me,” she cried.
“I don’t know what you are talking about but I’m not leaving you and you are not going anywhere,” I said clearly.
“No Liam, you don’t understand if I stay here, I will bring trouble to your pack and everyone. What if something happens to you? Or your sister or Clara, Scott or Josh? I am trouble, the rogue attack was because of me, people died because of me.”
“You need to stop this, it was not because of you. That sick bastard just wanted to do that to get to you and nothing is going to happen to anyone because we are going to find out who is doing this and stop him.”
She doesn’t say anything.
I looked at the bag and understood what she was trying to do.
“You wanted to leave?” I said in shock.
“Maybe if I was gone the attacks would stop,” she muttered.
“And you think I will just leave you like that,” I was angry now.
“You are my mate Elena and you belong to me and I told that before I will not lose you again.”
She has stopped crying, but I don’t think she has given up.
“I, Liam Blackthorn, accept Elena Stone as my mate,” I said as I felt heat flow through me and the mate bond became clearer.
“Did you just, why?” she asked me with her eyes wide in shock.
“Because you are mine and I won’t let anyone take you away from me,” I said looking into her beautiful purple eyes.
“Aren’t you going to say it back or do you not want me?”
“I do,” she said and blushed. “I, Elena Stone, accept Liam Blackthorn as my mate.”
The mate bond snaps into place.
“Whoa I feel weird,” Elena giggles. “Like something changed.”
I smile at her. “You can feel the mate bond?”
“I’m not sure but I feel the tingles more now and I can feel you,” she looks at me and then her eyes drop to my lips.
I don’t waste any time and I kiss her with everything in me.
There was no way in hell I would ever let her go.
