Chapter 16: SIXTEEN

...

Mira was grabbed by the throat, and in a second, she was held against the wall, being choked by Henry. His eyes were blazing with rage and in a few moments, Mira's face became red as a tomato as she gradually lost her breath.

Brittany speechlessly watched in shock. Her lips shook as she struggled to speak, her feet fixated on the floor in evident awe. Mira kept struggling with him, her life slowly seeping away by the second.

As soon as I regained my strength enough to walk, I immediately began pulling Henry back, not willing to cause more trouble.

"Please let her go, it'll be more trouble if you hurt her!" I begged but Henry paid me no heed.

Of course, the abused dejected me wouldn't bother pleading on her behalf but enjoy the sight of her being choked to death, but the current me only wanted to avoid trouble. I didn't want another reason to remain in the Crimson Pack. Mira's punishment was enough to pacify me for everything she did.

"Henry please.." I continuously begged, pouring out more reasons why he shouldn't kill her before he grudgingly released her, turning away to immediately calm his rage.

Mira coughed endlessly on the floor, clinging to her neck as she struggled to breathe.

I exhaled in relief.

"How dare you?" Mira raged amidst heavy breaths, "How dare you lay your filthy hands on the Luna in her territory, you worthless beta?"

Henry faced her with a deep scowl, "If you want to live long enough to pay for your sin, you should keep your hands to yourself henceforth. I would not hesitate to snuff life out of you if you put your hands on the Alpha's mate again," Henry threatened calmly.

"You son of a bitch," Mira started to charge at him but ended up tripping and falling to the floor, Brittany immediately rushed to help her.

"Who the hell do you think you are to threaten me? A Luna?"

"Trust me, it's not a threat, I mean every word I said. And I am Beta Henry of the Ocean Howls Pack, she is the future Luna of my pack. As Beta, I have every right to protect her."

Simultaneously, as though Henry's words had just settled in their minds, Brittany and Mira's eyes widened.

"Wait, what did you just say? Future Luna?! Who?!" Brittany yelled, her eyes moving from Henry to me, her body dropping to the ground in shock.

"E-Ellen is Alpha Ace's mate?" She asked like she had just heard the most ridiculous news in her life.

"Yes. She is the future Luna of the Ocean Howls Pack. Hence, it is my duty to protect her as I would protect the Alpha." Henry said.

"T-t-that's a lie.. there's no way this lowlife-" a single growl from Henry shut the rest of Mira's words up.

Even though they still seem very much awed, they managed to leave the ward.

"Are you okay?" Henry asked, "Should I call a doctor?"

"No, I'm fine. Don't worry about the wounds, they'll heal pretty soon."

Henry didn't look convinced by my words, "you still need to get checked," he insisted.

"Just watch," I placed my hand on the first scratch Brittany made on my wrist, and as the light shone, the healing process began, and soon the wound dried up.

Henry's eyes widened as he staggered back, "You are--

I nodded when he suddenly became tongue-tied. "Thank you for standing up for me earlier, because of your intervention, I'm still alive."

"I have to protect you as the Alpha's mate. You do not have to be thankful as I am only doing my job," he said.

He brought a blanket from the built-in wardrobe in the ward and handed it to me to cover up, "I'll get you some clothes," he bowed and walked away, giving me some privacy to heal.

When Henry returned with some clean clothes, I had already healed myself completely. My skin was as fresh as a child's and the pains were now long gone. As he handed me the bag of clothes, I noticed the unmistakable look of surprise in his eyes as he stared at my once bruised body.

He seemed satisfied enough not to call for medical interference and stepped out to allow me to change. I pulled into a dress that was a little oversized for me but comfortable to an extent.

When I was done, I called Henry back in.

"I'm sorry it's not your fit, I did my best to pick the perfect size but--

"Oh, it's fine. I love it," I assured him with a smile.

This new treatment of being served was something I wasn't sure I could easily get used to. I was used to serving others and enduring their brutality while I did.

"That's good then," Henry nodded, taking the bag. "I am not guaranteed of your safety around here, looks like you have way too many enemies here than I had imagined. It must be bothersome for you. I will take you to the Alpha's exclusive suite. No one will trouble you there, and you can have as much rest as you want until the Alpha returns," he said, his gaze questioning.

It was at this moment I realized he was waiting for my response, so I nodded immediately.

We headed out of the hospital to a car already set for departure in the driveway. The door was opened for me, and I climbed in, Henry coming to sit beside me.

The ride was quiet, soothing, and calm, that I almost fell asleep in the car. I stared out of the window, watching the street while thinking of all the turnarounds in my life in the past twenty-four hours. As great as most of it sounded, I still found myself having doubts, fearing momentarily for my future.

There was too much good stuff happening to me in one day, and I was suspicious of it; I had never experienced a day that brought so much positivity. First, I was the legendary healer hence a direct descendant from the moon goddess, then mate to the most powerful Alpha of the strongest Pack that came with a lot of protection and care on my side.

I found it all suspicious. My original identity was the only thing that hadn't changed, I was still an Omega that had been rejected without a second thought by my first mate.

I was jolted from my thoughts as the car galloped to a halt. Stepping out of the car, I noticed we were now in front of the exotic five-star hotel Natalie and I worked at.

Henry stood beside me as he led me into the hotel. The exclusive suites were situated on the last floor. A floor a smelly Omega like myself couldn't step foot in. Where the workers are tested and carefully selected before they are offered jobs.

I didn't have access to that floor and because of me, Natalie wasn't allowed there either. It was difficult to sneak in as Paula was mostly on that floor, but Natalie always found a way.

Now, I was going to rest in one of those exclusive suites. I didn't have to bother about being seen by anyone, not even Paula.

The elevator dinged, and the door went open; Henry walked out and waited for me to follow. He was beside me as we strolled down the marble floor to Ace's suite; he stopped at a door and used the card; it automatically went open, and we entered.

The living room was wide, luxuriously furnished, and designed. Henry directed me to Ace's room, telling me to take as much rest as I wanted. I traveled down the corridor that led to his room, already set to fall asleep in the bed I was certain would be one hundred percent comfy.

Opening the door to his room, I paused on my track when I sighted a naked she-wolf on his couch, she was completely bare and posed in a seductive way that had her privates completely exposed. The moment one stepped in, seeing it was unavoidable.

She didn't seem to notice me when my brows contorted in confusion, nor when I had thrown open the door. Until a scream left my mouth, she turned.
