Chapter 45 What The Silver Wolf Brings

Chapter 45 What The Silver Wolf Brings

Hazel's POV

I knew I couldn't be overthinking it since both Lucas and Susan looked at me, excitement on their faces and they also turned to look at my parents when they realized that I was staring at them.

"Do you feel it?" I asked Lucas and Susan, referring to my parents whose eyes were dancing around the three of us.

"Yes I do." Lucas answered as his mate shook her head in agreement with him.

Mum and dad looked at the three of us the way a parent would look at their child that they suspected was a drug addict.

They tried to mask a different emotion with fake smiles on their faces.

However, their eyes were a dead giveaway.

"What's with the two of you?" I asked them, realizing that I was sensing that they were worried.

It was the same worry that hung over Jordan's face that morning. I brushed it off when I was in the car with Amanda when I realized that he couldn't just drop his guard that fast.

It was probably something that was going to pass with time, or so I thought.

But when I saw the exact same reaction on my parents' faces, I knew that something was off.

"Nothing. We are just so happy for you and...."

I didn't want mum to finish that statement, because I knew it was filled with lies.

"... mum?" I quickly interjected her.

"Yes?" She responded.

"I've been lied to nearly my entire life. I kindly ask that we leave that in the past. I just want the truth." I told her

Lucas shook his head in agreement with me, and mum immediately turned to look at dad, who didn't show any emotion in his face.

He then proceeded to ask me, "By any chance, did Jordan tell you the color of your fur when you shifted?"

Confused, I realized that even in my wolf form, I so confused that I didn't even remember to check what color of fur I had on.

Luckily for me, I could remember Jordan telling me everything about my shift and he didn't leave out the color that I had.

"He told me that my fur was silver, almost as bright as the moon when the sun shone on it." I answered him.

For a split second, there was pin drop silence that followed the moment I said that.

I stared at the two of them, realizing that the mood over their heads was brought about by the color of my fur.

"What's wrong with her fur?" Lucas asked, making me realize that I was not crazy to think it was the factor behind their behaviour.

Dad looked at mom and gave her a slight nod, signaling for her to tell me what the problem was.

"The problem isn't about the color of your fur. It's what it means." She said as she stood up and I sat down to listen to what she had to say.

"You see, when I was a little girl, my mother used to tell me a story about a myth, moreso a prophesy that I believed was just a way to have us cling on to some hope of a supernatural being living among us.

I also thought that it was their way of just keeping us curious. It was called the myth of the silver wolf."

'Silver wolf?' I asked myself internally.

Looking at Lucas and Susan, they both had the same confused look on their faces.

So, I wasn't the only one that was curious about what she was talking about.

"They told us that it was prophesied that one day, the wolves would get a wolf whose silver fur was blessed by the moon goddess herself.

She would be so powerful with strength that equals the goddess' own, and her blood was what made her even more special."

I was seated listening to mum talk about me like I was some super wolf, when I knew I didn't and hadn't felt so super in the five years that I had gotten my wolf.

"Her blood was going to grant anyone immortality." She added, making my jaw drop to the farthest point of the Pacific ocean in dismay.

"That can't be right, can it?" I asked Venus, expecting her to have at least known some of this.

My blood was said to have the ability to grant anyone a never ending life, and I was the same person that had just gone through hell for all those years?

I was the same person that wanted to kill herself at one point when I had that power coursing through my veins.

"You've got to kidding. Right mom?" I asked her.

She wasn't joking, and neither was dad.

"That's not all." She continued.

"Of course." I sighed, wondering if there could be anything else to add as if that was not already enough.

Heck,I hadn't even gotten the time to process that information.

"The myth said that the silver wolf could also bring someone back to life." The moment she said that, I got up and started pacing around the room.

It all had to be a lie.

I was just celebrating the success when it came to me finally breaking the curse that haunted Jordan for years, only for me to get hit with the most twisted news that I could think off.

"How's that even possible?" Susan asked, making me stop pacing and look at mum as I also wanted to know how that was possible.

"That is a mystery we didn't have the luxury to know about." She answered Susan, and then looked at me.

"Is this why Jordan was uneasy with me this morning? He was trying to hide it but that dude needs to step up his poker face." I inquired.

"He stepped it up for five years and you almost believed him." Lucas said jokingly as he poked at me.

I shot a glare at him, making him raise his hands in defeat.

"That's exactly why. On the night that I came to your rescue and saw you in your wolf form, I knew that it wasn't just a prophecy nor a myth.

It was true, and my daughter was the silver wolf." Mum said.

"That's why she had to seal your wolf away because she knew that it wouldn't last long before word spread out." Dad added.

"I understand the worry about the dangers that it could bring, but I don't even know how to bring someone from the dead. And I doubt that my blood can grant anyone immortality." I said to them.

"I do believe that the stories you were told were just stories and nothing more.

I could just be an ordinary wolf with silver fur." I said to mum.

It was my attempt to try and make light of the situation, but it wasn't working.

Especially not when mum said, "But you're not just a normal wolf.

You are a wolf sired by the queen of the witches. You have both witch and wolf blood in you veins.

If anything, you were destined to become a witch if you were not to mate with Jordan, but you broke that and now more than ever, you are more wolf than witch."

"Hazel, you're practically the best candidate to be the silver wolf that the moon goddess has blessed.

And as much as that is an honor, it is also a curse." Father added.

Five days had passed since my parents told me about the reason why my wolf was sealed away.

Venus still acted the same and continued telling me she had no idea of any of the abilities that they claimed I had.

I had already moved into the pack house, and Alpha Jordan didn't hesitate to introduce me to the pack as the new Luna.

This came after Claudia was caught red-handed trying to sabotage me within the first day that I had gotten there.

She really made it easy for Jordan to lock her up in the dungeons without having a reason to look back.

However, I asked him to release her for she had served in my place, even though she became power hungry and was scared of being replaced.

So far, we had decided that anything that was alleged about me and my wolf, concerning the gifts that the moon goddess was said to have given me, were all to be kept to the people who knew so far.

And when we realized not a lot of people knew of the prophecy, it became even easier.

Just as I was relaxing in the garden, I heard rushed footsteps and Jordan suddenly appeared.

He looked agitated and angry.

"We've been attacked. I'm going to asses the damage." He said to me, letting me know where he would be.

He didn't even turn, when my phone rang. Looking at the caller ID, it was Lucas.

Nothing seemed odd about that, until I answered it and I could hear screams in the background with people shouting for help.

"Lucas?" I yelled into the phone in distress and confusion.

"Hazel! We've been attacked. There were so many of them." He panted into the phone.

The horror on my face was enough to have Jordan pause and not rush out.

"I'm okay, but Susan is injured." Lucas added.

My heart dropped, and I looked at Jordan in disbelief.

And it was in that moment that I remembered a statement that my father whispered to me on the side that sent chills down my spine.

He had said, "The silver wolf is also a beacon for the supernaturals. Wherever she goes, they follow, and so does death and destruction."
