Chapter 150 CHAPTER 150

Chapter 150 CHAPTER 150
Rosaleen’s POV

Megan was talking non stop about her recent adventures with a man she had met online.

“Oh we are yet to meet,” she said, twisting a lock of hair around her finger and smiling widely.

Lara huffed. “And the one you met in Ibiza?”

“You think Megan has it in her to keep a man for more than a night?” Phoebe said, rubbing more sunscreen on her legs.

I watched them quietly, a wide hat over my head and sunglasses on my face. Yet I still felt visible. The ugly scar on my face was always a source of anxiety to me. I wondered if they could see it beneath the layers of makeup and the sunglasses.

“He was captivating for just a week,” she said, stretching her legs and arching her back. She looked at me, then turned away. “Rosaleen seems to be in her quiet era.”

Lara chided her. “Remember we are trying not to offend her again after what happened last time.”

They spoke as though I was not there. In fact, I was not there in my mind. My mind was far away, thinking about anything that could go wrong. I had made sure I had silenced anyone that I could. Yet I was still uneasy. As long as Evelyn was not dead, I could not have peace.

“Is Anna not back from her trip?” Lara asked, throwing the question at no one in particular. “She was supposed to be here, right?”

Three pairs of eyes looked at me. I moved slightly. “She mentioned it. Anna is difficult to predict.”

Megan leaned forward. “She’s been on a spree. I mean no one bears Greywood's name better than she does. New designers everyday. She’s living the life.” she paused. “You are not excited, Rosaleen. Wasn’t this what you wanted? To be married to Alpha Michael?”

That was the same question Alpha Raymond had asked me when I complained about the marriage contract. Michael and I were only married on paper. We barely saw each other even though we lived in the same house. It was what I wanted, but I wanted more. I wanted his eyes to gleam with excitement when he saw me, not the coldness I saw. I wanted him to want me, but he despised me. I felt miserable.

Anna was supposed to be my companion, but things had changed rapidly in days. She wanted to move with people her age. Perhaps I didn't care about it until she told me that we weren’t the same thing because she was born into wealth while I married into it.

So I smiled. “I’m thinking about a couple of things, Megan,” I said.

She moved closer. “A baby already?” she teased. “You both aren’t taking it easy, are you?”

I laughed, and it was hard to see that it was not a bitter laugh. If they knew that Alpha Michael had not touched me since our marriage, I'd become the talk of the group.

“A baby is the right way to tighten your hold on him before that troublesome one wakes up,” Phoebe said. “She already had a son for him. You need to make sure she sees no chance of returning when she eventually wakes up.”

Lara scoffed. “Babies won’t make a man stay if he doesn’t.”

Megan rolled her eyes. “Don’t take any advice from Lara. We all know she cannot keep a man.”

“Says someone who changes men every fortnight,” she fired back, though I thought it was more of a compliment to Megan.

“Megan is right though,” Phoebe said. “If Evelyn Moon wakes up from her coma, there might be some trouble. It seems Alpha Michael fell in love with her at one point.”

I gritted my teeth. I had left New York because I wanted to be far away from all the tension and gossip. The Dovers were spreading rumors about me and I knew no one in the upper circle of the city liked me. I had escaped so I could breathe, but these women still found a way of bringing the problem back to me.

“She won’t wake up,” I blurted out loudly. “It’s been months. And even if she did, by any miracle, Alpha Michael already belongs to me.”

They didn’t know what I knew.

I tried to join the conversation as we continued chatting and waiting for Anna. We were supposed to go shopping together.

When she arrived, she was more than three hours late. She strolled in, swinging her hips and displaying her latest tattoo - a large butterfly in between her breasts.

“I hope I didn't keep you all waiting for too long,” she said. “I had to stop at the beautician’s. Then I saw this tattoo artist and I had to try something new.” She swung around as a man joined us. “I also met someone I'd like to introduce to you.”

Behind my sunglasses, I could recognise him and I hoped he did not. I knew him. What was he doing with Anna?

“Meet Alpha Roman Reigns,” she said.

The ladies were in awe of his physique and his looks. I bit my lips and drew my hat down.

“Hello, ladies,” he said, with his polished voice. “It’s a pleasure to be in the company of you all. Anna has told me of how incredible you are.”

Megan led the introduction. “I’m Megan,” she said, throwing her hand into his for a shake that lingered too long. “Nice to meet you. You smell nice.”

“Thank you, Megan.”

The other ladies gave brief introductions. Then he turned to me.

“That is Rosaleen,” Anna said as he faced me.

He beamed and stretched his hand towards me. “Hello, Rosaleen. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

I took his hand and he squeezed it tightly, enough for me to get the message. “The pleasure is mine,” I replied stiffly.

Anna clapped excitedly. “Let’s be on our way.”

I rose up, feeling the urge to go the opposite way. Roman had awoken from the grave and I buried him.
