Chapter 34 A Cruel World
Isabella’s POV
“For what you did, Isabella…” Landon’s voice echoed through the room as he stared down at me on the floor, his eyes devoid of any mercy. “For intentionally getting rid of my heir…I banish her from this land. Take her out of my sight before I rip her apart!”
The words hit me harder than any physical blow he had ever delivered, the air rushing out of my lungs in a broken gasp.
“No!” I cried out, my voice shaking as fresh tears streamed down my cheeks. “Please, Landon…Alpha…I don’t have anywhere to go! Where will I go?”
I pushed myself up on trembling arms, rushing to his side instantly. “My father doesn’t even care about me. I have no one, no pack, nothing! Please don’t do this to me!”
He didn’t even glance at me.
His jaw was clenched so tight I could hear his teeth clatter, his eyes burning with pure, unfiltered rage as he turned slightly away. As though my very presence disgusted him beyond words.
“Please…I’m innocent. I swear on everything I have left,” I crawled forward desperately, ignoring the sharp, stabbing pain still blooming from my abdomen where I had lost my baby. “Why would I kill my own baby? I wanted that child more than anything in this world!”
Even with all my pleas, Landon ignored me completely, as though I was nothing more than dirt under his boots. I forced myself up, wrapping my arms tightly around his leg like a desperate lifeline.
“Brother, eyes only trying to manipulate you with her fake tears.” Clara’s voice cut through the tension as she stepped closer, her voice smooth as she placed a gentle hand on Landon’s arm. “Don’t let her fool you…you’re the Alpha, which means you cannot show mercy to someone who would destroy your bloodline.”
Sarah stepped forward instantly on hearing Clara’s words, her voice urgent and pleading. “Landon, think carefully about this. Where will she go? She’s a rogue with no protection…imagine what the other rogues out there will do to her if they catch her. Please, reconsider for the sake of what’s left of her.”
“I don’t give a fuck!” Landon barked, his eyes snapping towards Sarah, cold and unyielding. “She’s a rogue, so let her go live with her kind. Whether she dies out there or survives is none of my damn business!”
“Exactly.” Clara nodded firmly, her tone encouraging his ruthlessness, “You’ve been far too kind with her already, brother. She has poisoned your heir and now tries to play the victim. Send her away, let her face the consequences of her actions.”
I clung tighter to his leg, my tears soaking through his pants. “Please… I’m begging you, Landon. Clara brought me the tea… she said it was for the baby’s strength… I…I didn’t know… I swear I didn’t know—“
He doesn’t wait for me to finish my words. With a rough, violent jerk, he shoved my hands off his leg. Before I could react, his fingers fisted painfully in my hair, dragging me across the floor by my hair.
My scalp burned as if it were on fire, sending sharp agony shooting through my head as I screamed in pain.
“Landon! You’re hurting me!” The words tore out of me, my hands flying up to grab his wrist. “Please! Let go! I’m innocent!”
He didn’t listen.
Not for a second.
He kept dragging me, my body sliding painfully across the cold stone floor.
“Stop hurting her, Landon!” Sarah screamed, following behind us as she pleaded with Landon. “Can’t you see she’s still bleeding from the miscarriage. She’s in terrible pain. You can’t do this to her!”
Clara moved towards him instantly, her voice calm and reassuring. “Don’t listen to Sarah, brother…this filthy rogue brought this on herself. Drag her out and be done with it.”
Landon ignored them both, his grip merciless as he pulled me through the long hallway. Servants and warriors lined the walls, staring with wide eyes but quickly looking away when Landon’s furious gaze landed on them.
With every brutal yank, my knees scraped bare against the stone, my gown tearing further, but the physical pain was nothing compared to the terror of being thrown out with nothing — no food, no protection, nothing
We finally reached the front gates of the mansion, and with one merciless, brutal motion, Landon yanked me up by my hair and threw me forward.
I stumbled and fell hard onto the dirt just outside the gate, landing painfully on my hands and knees, blood from the miscarriage still dripping down my thighs.
“Get out of here!” He ordered, his voice leaving no room for argument. “If I ever set eyes on you again, I will kill you without a second thought. Get out of my territory and never return.”
“Landon, please! Listen to me!”
I scrambled to my feet immediately, my legs shaking violently from the weakness. “Clara has done this! She’s lying to you!”
He turned his back on me without hesitation and started walking back toward the mansion, not even looking back once. Clara was following behind him too.
“Landon!!”
I ran after him, throwing myself against the closing gate. My hands banging desperately on the iron bars, “Please! Hear me out! I’m telling the truth! Don’t do this to me!”
Sarah reached the gate from the inside and grabbed my hands through the bars, her eyes filled with deep sorrow and helplessness. “Isabella… I’ll talk to him. I promise I’ll talk to Landon. Everything will be fine…stay safe for now. Please survive.”
Sarah’s words didn’t register with me, because I kept banging on the gate with everything I had left, my voice cracking with every word.
“Landon! Please believe me! I didn’t kill our baby! Don’t leave me here!”
I fell to my knees in the dirt outside the mansion, tears streaming down my cheeks uncontrollably. My blood-stained hands were still gripping the cold iron bars as if they could somehow make everything back to normal.
“Landon!” I screamed one last time, my voice hoarse and defeated. “Please… believe me… I’m innocent…”
But he was already gone.
Behind the gate, Sarah’s worried face was the last thing I saw before strong hands pulled her away.
My hands slid slowly down the bars as I stayed there on my knees in the dirt, bleeding, all alone in this cruel world.
