Chapter 25 Five Days To Break
Isabella’s POV
The guards dragged me down the hallway without a word, their fingers digging bruises into my arms. Without mercy, they pushed the door to Landon’s room and shoved me inside.
He was sitting up in bed now, resting against a pile of pillows, bandages wrapped tightly around his chest and shoulder. The second my eyes met this…there was no trace of softness anymore, he was back to the same ruthless Alpha who had claimed me over and over again.
Landon doesn’t utter a word at first, he keeps staring at me, his gaze raking all over my swollen cheeks and bloody lips.
“So” he begins finally, his voice still weak from the pain. “Your father tried to kill me.”
“I swear, I didn’t know about any of his plans,” I shook my head quickly, stepping forward only for the guards to yank me back. “I haven’t laid eyes on him ever since you brought me here. Please, Landon—”
“Alpha,” he corrected coldly. “You will address me properly.”
“Y…yes, Alpha,” I whispered, my voice breaking. “I don’t know anything about the attack, and I had no idea he would ever do something like this.”
A bitter laughter tears out of him instantly—a sound that sends chills through my spine. “You really expect me to believe that? His blood runs in your veins, Isabella. So, of course, you have to support him.”
“I—“
“She’s lying!” Clara’s voice cuts through the room as she steps inside, her lips curled in utter disgust, “They are nothing but filthy liars. Lock her away until she breaks.”
Landon raised a hand immediately after Clara spoke, silencing her. “I’m going to ask you for the last time…tell me where your father is hiding, and this ends.”
“I don’t know!” The words tear out of me quickly, “If I knew, I would tell you. I swear on my child—“
Oh shit!
Mentioning the baby was a mistake, because the expression on Landon’s face hardened even more. He shifted slightly in the bed, wincing as the movement pulled at his wounds, but the pain didn’t soften him.
“How dare you think you can use that thing inside you to blackmail me?!” He growled, his voice thundering across the entire room. “I decided to spare your worthless life and bring you here, I fed you.. protected you from the pack’s hatred. And this is how you repay me?”
“I’m not lying,” I begged, my knees starting to buckle. “Please believe me, I would never repay you in a bad way—“
“From today onwards,” he cut me off before I could finish. “You will be locked in your room for five days. No food, and no water. You will stay there until you decide to tell me the truth about where your traitorous father is hiding.”
The words hit me like a slap across the face instantly.
Five days?
With no food and water?
How the hell was I going to survive!
“No…" Please,” My hand instinctively moved to my stomach. “The baby—”
“The child is strong,” Landon said flatly. “It will survive five days, but you, however, might learn something about obedience and loyalty in that time. Hunger has a way of clearing the mind.”
“Finally,” Clara hissed the second Landon gave his final decision, a cold, satisfied smirk tugging at the corner of her lips. “Let her feel what real pain is.”
I dropped to my knees before I could stop myself, ignoring the guards’ tight grip as they tried to shove me back again. “Alpha, please, I’m telling the truth. You can punish me for my father’s sins, but not the baby. Please!”
Landon watched me plead for a long moment, tears spilling uncontrollably down my cheeks. But his face showed nothing — no pity, no anger, just cold calculation.
“Take her away,” he ordered the guards. “Keep her locked in her room for five days. No exceptions. If she still refuses to speak at the end of it, we’ll try something more… creative.”
Before I could open my mouth to plead any more, the guards hauled me to my feet, forcing me out of the door with their terrifying strength.
“Landon, she’s pregnant. Five days without food could.” Sarah’s voice suddenly came from the doorway. “You can’t do this to h—“
“Enough!” He barked instantly, cutting her off. His eyes flickered to me one last time, “This is mercy, Isabella. I could have ripped you into shreds right now but I won’t. You have five days to decide… you'd better use them wisely.”
With that, the guards dragged me out of the room, but the more they dragged me, the more I struggled desperately against their grip, my voice breaking as I pleaded.
“Please… the baby needs me strong. Don’t do this…”
But there was no response from Landon.
They dragged me back to the larger room next to Landon’s and swung the door open. I didn’t get any chance to react as they shoved me roughly inside.
The sheer force of it sent me stumbling onto the floor, but I caught myself on the edge of the bed. The next sound heard was the door slamming shut behind me, followed by the heavy bolt as they locked me in.
I stood there for a long moment, the tears still spilling freely now. My legs eventually gave out and I slid down the wall until I sat on the cold floor.
“I’m sorry,” I whispered, my hand pressed against my stomach, feeling for any sign of the tiny life inside it. “I’m so sorry for putting you through all these, baby.”
It was too early to feel real movement, but I imagined the baby there — small, fragile, depending on me.
How was I supposed to survive for five days? How would the baby?
The look on Landon’s face slams into me like a wicked memory, the same man who had pulled me close and kissed me like I was his lifeline. And now…he had just locked his child and me to starvation without blinking.
What kind of cold-hearted man was this?!
Or was it punishment for the small, stupid part of me that had started to hope he might feel something real?
I curled tighter into myself, resting my forehead on my knees, pressing both hands over my stomach, whispering into the quiet room.
“We’ll get through this. Somehow, baby.”
But deep down, a darker thought whispered back.
What if we didn’t?
