Chapter 170: The Final Confrontation
Sierra's POV
Adrian's arms released me. Slowly. Like letting go hurt him. His eyes stayed on Marcus. Cold and deadly.
"Get behind me," he said. His voice was quiet but it carried weight.
I shook my head. "No." The word came out stronger than I felt. "I'm staying. This ends with both of us here." Adrian's jaw clenched. He wanted to argue, protect me and send me away where I'd be safe but he knew me. He knew I wouldn't leave not after everything Marcus had done to me, our pack, our family. This was my fight too.
Marcus wiped blood from his mouth. He stood straighter like he was feeding off the chaos around us.
"Finally," he said. His voice was too calm. "Just the three of us. The way it should have been two years ago." He rolled his shoulders. Stretched his neck. Getting ready.
"No interruptions. No rescues. Just us and the truth." Adrian stepped forward. His muscles rippled ready to shift. Ready to tear Marcus apart. "There's no truth in you. Only lies and hate." Marcus smiled. It was ugly. "Says the man who stole everything from me."
The warehouse went quiet. Both packs stood watching. Some of Marcus's wolves looked uncertain now like they were seeing their leader for the first time.
Daemon moved closer to me. Positioned himself between me and the nearest exit. Protective. "He's going to fight dirty," Daemon whispered. His voice was rough. "Marcus doesn't know how to fight fair. Watch his left side. He hides weapons there." I nodded and stored that information away. Adrian needed every advantage he could get.
Marcus shifted first. His body cracked and reformed. Brown fur rippled across his skin. Claws extended. Teeth grew sharp and long. He was bigger than I remembered.
Two years of rage had fed him. Made him into something darker. Adrian shifted next. Black fur. Massive shoulders. Eyes that glowed with Alpha power. They were the same size. This would be a fight to the death. Only one would walk away.
They circled each other. Slow and calculating looking for weakness, for an opening. Marcus lunged first. Fast. Adrian dodged, barely.
Marcus's claws caught Adrian's shoulder and tore through fur and flesh. Blood sprayed. Adrian didn't flinch. He spun and caught Marcus in the ribs. His teeth sank deep. Marcus yelped and jerked away. They separated. Both bleeding, panting. The fight had just started and already the floor was red.
I watched every movement. My sensing ability inside me hummed alive and actively warned me. I could feel Marcus's intent. His next move before he made it. He was aiming for Adrian's throat going for the kill.
"Left!" I shouted. Adrian ducked. Marcus's jaws snapped on empty air. Adrian countered. Raked his claws down Marcus's side deep. Marcus howled. Rage and pain mixed together. He turned on me and his eyes found mine. Pure hatred burned ther like I was the cause of all his suffering.
Marcus charged. Not at Adrian but at me. Daemon jumped in front of me and shifted mid-leap. His gray wolf form collided with Marcus. They went down hard. Rolling, biting. Daemon was good but he wasn't an Alpha.
Marcus threw him off and sent him crashing into the wall. Daemon didn’t get up. Adrian roared. The sound shook the building. He hit Marcus like a freight train. They crashed through boxes, metals. Debris flew everywhere. I ran to Daemon, checked his pulse. Unconscious but alive. Relief flooded through me.
The fight intensified. Adrian and Marcus were evenly matched. Every time one gained ground the other recovered. Blood pooled beneath them. Their fur was matted with it. This couldn't go on. One of them would collapse from blood loss before a winner emerged.
Marcus needed to be stopped. Permanently. My hand found a piece of broken metal. Long enough to be useful. I gripped it tight and waited for my moment.
Marcus got the upper hand. He pinned Adrian down. His jaws aimed for Adrian's throat. Time slowed. I felt Marcus's intention, I felt the killing blow coming.
"Adrian, roll right!" My scream cut through everything. Adrian rolled. Marcus's teeth caught air. Adrian's back legs kicked up, caught Marcus in the belly. Sent him flying. Marcus hit the ground hard. Adrian scrambled up and positioned himself over Marcus. This was it. The moment. The end.
But Marcus wasn't done. His paw shot out. Not with claws but with a knife hidden just like Daemon warned. The blade flashed and aimed for Adrian's heart.
That sensing ability screamed inside me. Showed me exactly what would happen. How the knife would sink deep. How Adrian would fall and I'd lose everything.
I moved without thinking. Threw myself forward. The metal piece in my hand flew straight and true. It caught Marcus in the shoulder. The knife clattered away.
Adrian didn't hesitate. His jaws closed around Marcus's throat. Marcus thrashed, kicked and tried to escape but Adrian's grip was iron. Unbreakable.
I watched Marcus's eyes. Saw the moment he knew he'd lost. I saw the hatred, regret, fear. Then nothing. His body went limp. Adrian held on for another minute making sure. Then he released him and stepped back.
He shifted to human form. Covered in blood and breathing hard.
"It's over," Adrian said. His voice was hoarse. "It's finally over." He looked at me. His eyes were wet not with tears but with relief, exhaustion.
With love I ran to him, threw my arms around him. I didn't care about the blood, dirt, the death around us. He was alive. We were alive. That's all that mattered.
Adrian's arms wrapped around me. Held me so tight I couldn't breathe. "You saved me," he whispered against my hair. "You saved me twice."
Around us, the warehouse erupted. Marcus's wolves surrendered, laid down their weapons and shifted back to human form. They looked lost. Their leader was dead. Their cause was gone.
Ben and Richard started securing them. Taking names. Checking injuries. The pack moved like a machine. Efficient. Controlled. This was what real leadership looked like. Not Marcus's tyranny. Not his threats and fear but strength, unity and Purpose.
Daemon groaned and sat up. He Touched his head and winced. "Did we win?" His voice was weak. I nodded smiling through my tears. "We won."
Daemon looked at Marcus's body. Something crossed his face. Not sadness. Not joy. Just acceptance. "Good," he said simply. "The world's safer now."
He was right. Marcus had been a cancer spreading poison wherever he went. Now that cancer was cut out. Dead. Gone forever.
