Fierce Competition
WILLIAM
Georgia’s father and the rest of her pack left together with Alpha Killian and Minerva while the two women were made to stay in the palace.
The wedding was called off and the alpha king needed to do everything to block the news from coming out. Even the fact that I have found my mate was prevented from being disseminated.
I tried to protest against it using the fact that Alana is my mate but the alpha king already made up his mind that even my mother cannot convince him out of it.
“Did everything go well?” Alana asked me while tightly wrapped in my arms.
I sighed and relished at her scent.
“Yes, yes. Everything is well, Alana,” I chose to say to assure her even when I am not sure myself.
I believe everything will go well, I thought. I am positive around it.
Everything will go well. It should go well. That has been my mantra until the two women began wooing me literally.
“Who sent this food?” I asked when the maid placed the soup on my table. Alana is in her classes again and even if I want to see her every second of every day, the queen luna decided for Alana to intensely focus on her education.
“Alpha prince, Ms. Georgia sent this tomato soup for you to enjoy. She said that it is your favorite food and you will definitely enjoy this labor of her love.”
I looked at the bright red soup and put the spoon down. Of course, it became my favorite since Alana began cooking and serving it for me. Even if she did it too salty or bland, I still finished it because I like smelling her in the food that she cooked for me.
I pushed the plate away from me and stood up to look at the maid. “Take this away or better return this to the woman.”
I suddenly lost my appetite. I just want to see Alana and stare at her beautiful face to make my wolf happy.
But the second I opened the door of my room to go outside, a sweet scent of flowers packed in a big bouquet greeted me.
“What is all this?!” I said in a loud voice at the attendant whose face was hidden by the big flowers.
“Alpha prince, these are the fresh flowers picked by Ms. Sophia to profess her undying love for you. She is begging that you would accept these, alpha prince.”
I clenched my jaws and glared at the maid. “Take these all away and make sure she replants these poor plants!”
The maid bowed her head before me. “Yes, I will tell her, alpha prince.”
Pissed because these things have been going on for days while I barely see Alana who is being purposely kept away from me by my own mother, I decided to take the matter in my own hands.
The alpha king is giving me loads of work so I would be occupied the whole day but the yearning in my heart for Alana cannot be relinquished easily.
I can still find a way to be with Alana.
“Alpha prince!” the dance instructor exclaimed when he saw me climbing the wall to the classroom where Alana is being taught her ballet lessons.
I put a finger on my mouth to stop him from getting us unnecessary attention. “Please just let me see Alana for a second. I know you are reporting to my father every day but can I ask you to spare me a few minutes? I just really want to see her.”
She sighed before nodding at me. “Just as you wish, alpha prince. I did not see anything. Alana is in the last room. She’s still practicing.”
“Thank you very much!” I said excitedly and jumped to the other side.
I walked silently to the only lit room on the floor and there I saw Alana mastering her turn like she’s been doing it for years.
I leaned on the side of the window while peeping at her, a big smile cutting through my face when I saw how she’s enjoying herself. My mate is a genius. She learns things very easily. The only thing that might be her flaw is her horrible cooking.
It’s okay though, because I can cook for her every day.
I took a step forward to get nearer to her but a punch in the gut and the taste of blood in my mouth stopped me. My wolf cried in pain so I had to step back.
I really want to go near her but my health gets worse every day especially when Alana is around me. It’s taking a toll on my body.
Seeing her even from afar hurts me. I wanted to come to her, to hug and kiss her but not now when someone is watching. I don’t know how I am going to react this time. The allergic reaction could be severe again.
I could pass out this time.
“You are not supposed to be here, alpha prince,” a voice spoke from my back.
I looked at Francine and put a finger on my mouth again. “Alana might hear you.”
“The mere fact that she cannot sense that you are around is a much more serious thing, William.”
She sighed and looked at Alana.
“I am not in favor of any of this, alpha prince, but I am confident that you have a plan in mind. Whatever it is, do it hastily before the symptoms manifest.”
I nodded even though everything was like a haze for me. I searched and there is no similar case with me. The only thing I could do is reject Alana to sever our connection but I’d rather die than do that.
“I know. Thank you for keeping this a secret.”
She brushed the side of my hair just like what she always did to me when I was a child.
“Hurry, child, before Alpha Killian gets better. Right now, he is your most formidable enemy because he is the only one who knows the truth.”
That advice still stuck up to me even when I got back into my room. I should hurry but where should I look for answers when everyone is watching my every move in the palace?
“Alpha prince, Ms. Alana asked me to bring this to you.”
My attendant put a big bowl of pumpkin soup on my table.
A big smile appeared on my face when I heard my mate’s name that I cleared off whatever it is that’s bugging me and dug in.
But the second I tasted the food, I knew right away that it was not Alana who cooked it. It’s too delicious.
“What did you put on my food?!” I asked when my world began spinning around as I hit the floor with a thud.
I still saw a silhouette of a woman coming up to me before I totally blacked out.
Alana…
