Fighting Together

Fighting Together
ALANA

The news of the divorce between Sophia and William spread like wildfire inside and beyond the walls of the palace.

Everyone just shook their heads and shrugged their shoulders as if they already expected it to be happening.

“I told you that that woman would not last as the alpha prince’s wife. She’s too rude and acts like a prima donna when the alpha prince is not around.”

I paused from walking for a while across the hall when I heard the servants chattering in the garden while they’re cleaning. I am on my way to Francine to visit her and make sure that she’s safe. William told me everything about her situation and how she’s been given medicine to keep her in her vegetative state.

“I know just like Georgia. Is the alpha prince that cruel? He changed into a completely different person just overnight. I can still recall him smiling to every person that he met but he just changed too suddenly.”

I blinked and sighed hard. My heart ached for William. He must have been so confused when he woke up after the surgery because he’s hurting but he didn’t know where he was coming from.

“Did he finally meet his mate and find out that she is already a mate of other men?”

The two women continued talking away.

“That could be the reason that is why he was not able to love any of his two wives,” said the new one who came from the other side. “The alpha prince is heartbroken but he didn’t know how to express it.”

Tears welled in my chest with the heaviness I am feeling. Along with the surgery performed on William, the whole palace was put in a strong spell so they could not remember me. I was practically erased from their memories.

That is why I am wondering why I am not being summoned by the alpha king and queen themselves. They must know about the woman whom their son brought into the palace to disrespect his own wife.

With a heavy heart, I picked up my pace and opened the door to Francine’s room only to be shocked to the core with what I was witnessing.

“Francine, I’m back… What the hell are you doing?!”

I threw all the things I am carrying to the side and ran towards Sophia who is about to feed something to Francine on the wheelchair. I was able to slap the syringe out of her hand and pushed her away and stood up in between them.

“You have to die! You have to die!” Sophia is screaming after she picks up the syringe to try to inject it to her again.

“I said get the fuck out of her!”

With one long stride, I met her in the middle of the room and dragged her by the collar before giving her two hard slaps on the face. Her lip burst and blood marred her face but she continued trying to attack Francine.

“I will kill her! It’s all because of her! I knew she did something because I can still see the hope in her eyes before she fell down on her knees and suffered a stroke! Francine did something to my husband so he would never love me!”

“Ex-husband, Sophia!” I immediately corrected her. “He is already divorced. And you were never lovable in the first place!”

Her mouth trembled as she directed her anger towards me.

“You! It all happened because of you!” She pointed her fingers at me. “Alana is fucking dead so why do I have to deal with another woman who looked and acted like her?! Alana is always stealing the things that are supposed to be mine so you fucking tell me why do I have to deal with her over and over again?!”

I grew my nails and clawed her face just like that. How dare she say this to me when both of us knew that she devised things to get the things that were mine in the first place.

My birthright… my man, my alpha. She tried to take them all away from me!

Sophia gasped when her palms were stained from her own blood. “How dare you do this to me?! I am the alpha prince’s wife!”

I raised my head even higher at her. “You are no longer William’s wife! And to tell you honestly, he never loved you in the first place! He never looked at you for once in the same way that he looked at Alana. You are just nothing but garbage for him.”

Her tears fell. I bet my words hurt better than the physical wounds.

“Why? Did I punch a button? Well, I am enjoying pressing it even further,” I trolled her.

Her face twisted into a monstrous snarl, eyes darkening as a wicked grin emerged from the side of her lip. “I will kill you, Aria! I will kill you now!”

“You can’t,” I cut her off. “You know why? Because I am stronger than you. I am prettier than you. I am more intelligent than you. On top of that, I have the affection of the alpha prince. He chose me over you, Sophia.”

All of the confidence that I have been seeing on her face earlier went down the drain in an instant.

She cried out loudly as her face contorted in pain looking like she’s deeply hurt.

“Y-You’re so cruel… like William.”

I grinned at her slowly as I pulled at her hair towards me. “You haven’t seen the real me, Sophia. I'm so much darker and crueler inside and I am going to unleash that darkness against you.”

After that bloody encounter with Sophia, William and I decided to bring Francine into our room.

“William…”

He hugged me so tight and kissed my head after a very exhausting day for us. He had gone away again to look for my cure, for our cure but looking at his expression, I knew that it was just another failure.

“I know you are probably beating yourself up but I want to tell you that you are doing good, Alana. You are doing pretty good.”

I looked up from sniffing and tiptoed to kiss his neck. “How can you still read my mind when we already lost our mated connection? How can you always read me like a blank slate, William?”

He grinned sheepishly and looked up at the ceiling before fixing his eyes back on me. “Because I just know you. I’m so familiar with you that I know when you are sad, depressed, or happy.”

“Do not overthink things. We will be fine.” He caressed my fingers. “You and I will be fine,” he said while I can see the exhaustion and lines on his face appear.

I caressed his face too and smiled at him. “You are doing the best, William. You are the best for me. You will always be the best for me.”
