Chapter 28 Nothing to day
ZORA
I woke up still feeling like shit. It's been approximately a week since the bond and Ryker made a fool of me.
The jab came at my chest again, just like how it has been doing these past days anytime I say anything bad about Ryker.
The bond has me in its palms. Even my wolf has disappeared.
A knock come on the door, followed by Marissa peeking her head in, "Is now a good time, or are you still grumpy?"
I stared at her, feeling my blood boil with rage and my cheeks with embarrassment.
"You can come in, I guess."
She stared at me skeptically, "You are not going to throw a slippers at me again, are you?"
A smile made its way to my lips, "No, I won't. Although, I need anything to distract my mind."
She entered and sat beside me on the bed, "That, I can help with, but I'd suggest you talk about what happened. Maybe that might ease the uneasiness in your chest."
I narrowed my eyes at her, "Do you really believe that?"
"No," she chirped, "I'm just really curious to know what happened."
I scoffed in pretense annoyance, "That, I don't want to talk about."
"Let's talk about you instead," I added.
"Me?" She blinked in confusion, "There's nothing to say about me."
"There's a lot, like where are you from, really? What about your family?"
She shrugged, "There's nothing about my family. I have a brother who hates me to the guts because I killed our parents."
I gaped at her.
"It's why I want to leave this pack so bad so that I can give him a breathable space."
"Your brother is in this pack?" I asked, unable to keep the surprise off my voice, "Didn't you say you came to this pack two years ago? Or was it three?"
"Doesn't matter. It's a lie." She sighed, "I was at the ball when you got rejected eight years ago. Goddess! You looked so pitiful, I wanted to give you a hug. I was envious of you when you ran away. I wish I could."
"So what's stopping you?"
"Aside from the fact that I'm a coward? My brother has eyes on me, and I guess I'm just waiting for the perfect time."
"How don't I know you then?" I questioned. There's no way I could have missed her at the ball.
"Do you know everyone in the pack?"
"No, but..."
"It's fine. Only a handful of people know me anyway."
"But if you killed your parents as you say, it would've been big news."
"Yeah, no. Nobody knows. We were on a vacation outside the pack when it happened. My brother let it stay that way. "
"How did it happen?"
"I snapped, things happened, and I've been living with my sin." She frowned, her face drawn and pale, I could see the sadness in her eyes.
"Not to be forward or anything, I'd like to neet your brother. He sounds cool."
She burst out laughing, "So what now? You really are not going to tell me anything?"
I shook my head, "If I can't handle it and need someone, you'll be the first I tell."
"Oh." She gave me a small smile, "Alright."
"Did I really look pitiful then?" I held her hand, my eyes searching hers earnestly, "On a scale of hundred, rate how pathetic I looked."
"A hundred and one." She stood, "But it's in the past. Do you have anything you'd like to do today? Or anything you need my help with?"
I shook my head, "Unless you know someone who knows history."
"History? Didn’t take you as an enthusiast. That's hot! You know what else is hot?"
"Don't say anything." I groaned and pulled a duvet over my head as the memory of my nipples in Ryker's mouth flooded my brain.
Heat coursed through my body in waves. I want him.
I want him to do it again, I need to feel the heat of his tongue on my body.
"Fine, I might know someone. I'll prepare your dress while you get ready," Marissa announced and left.
I removed the duvet and stood, heat still coursing through my body like a warm caress.
Throwing my door opened, I went down the hall in the opposite direction to the other side of the palace.
I found his room easily and pushed it open without knocking.
He was standing shirtless in front of his closet, holding a couple of T-shirt.
"What's wrong?" He regarded me with a bored look.
My breath hitched in my throat as my eyes shamelessly roamed his abs and muscles in appreciation.
My bond pulled at me with content and satisfaction.
He faced me, giving me a full view of his chest.
A gasp left my mouth,
Was this how eight packs look on men?
I was practically drooling.
This man was mine. I want to mark him. Make him one fully.
He was leaning against the closet now, staring at me with a bored look.
"Do you need anything, meiga? I don't see any reason why you're here when I didn't call for you."
"I need you!" I blurted out.
The corner of his eyes crinkled, "you need me?"
I loosened the strings of my night wear, letting it fall to the floor.
I stood stark naked in front of him now.
"I need you to touch me, I need to feel the heat of your body, of your mouth on mine."
His eyes darkened, and all traces of amusement disappeared.
"Didn't I make it clear, meiga?" His voice had a dangerous edge to it that made my skin prickled with fear and my body dance with excitement. "You are my prisoner, my plaything. You don't dare to make demands. You are in no position to."
"Yes, Alpha." I purred.
I slapped a hand over my mouth almost immediately.
Did that foreign sound come from me?
How the fvck am I standing nak‐
Ryker was suddenly in front of me, so close his breath fanned my face as he leaned down, face inches away from mine. Torturing me even further.
"Leave my room." He ordered.
If I pretended to shift on my feet, our lips would touch.
I arched my back slightly to press my body against his, have a feel of this skin to skin experience.
Before my body could touch his, he sidestepped me and opened the door, staring at me coldly.
My bond was disappointed but nothing beat the way I felt.
How did I get here in the first place?
I wore my night wear and bolted out of his room.
The bond's control is progressing faster than the healer said.
How the hell am I supposed to face Ryker later?
Do I tell him that wasn’t me in his room? That it was the bond and I have no interest in him whatsoever?
Maybe I appreciate his abs and body, I mean that's a totally normal reaction. I'm just attracted, not interested, besides I have Lucas waiting for me back home.
But saying that would make me sound like a crazy woman.
I ran into my room and closed the door, pressing my back against it as embarrassment washed over me.
This bond is really going to be the end of me!
"What's wrong?" Marissa asked.
"Can you stop asking that!!?" I stormed into the bathroom.
Although the warm water did nothing to satiate my anger, I came out feeling better.
Marissa was still waiting when I came out, staring at me warily.
I got dressed and let Marissa lead the way to the one person who'll change the trajectory of my life.
We arrived at a shabby looking hut that had seen better days.
I raised an eyebrow at Marissa, "This?"
"Yup" She nodded, "If you want something fancier, I can take you there but the chances you'll learn anything is zero."
"So who's here? A woman or man?"
"They claim not to have any gender."
I furrowed my eyebrows, "They?"
"It's just one person with no specific gender or rather one that won't be limited to a gender. It's why they've lived secluded from everyone since no one will respect their wishes."
I nodded, making a mental note not to slip.
"They are also the oldest person in the pack. Over a hundred years old." She added.
I knocked and entered, expecting to see an old frail man or woman with skinny body and wrinkled skin.
Instead, a young woman or a man? Sat behind a stack of books, a reading glasses perched on their nose.
Is this person really over a hundred year old? They looked like a teenager.
"Are you going to stand there all day?" They asked, eyes scrutinizing me with suspicion.
I walked in fully and sat down cautiously opposite them.
"What do you want to know?" They asked after a moment of silence. "And do you not know it's rude to stare at someone unblinking?"
"I'm sorry," I whispered, "Do you know anything about wildthread bond?"
They dropped the book they were holding and smiled at me eerily, their eyes glowing the way mine does at times.
Was the glowing eyes something common
"Now, that's not something I get asked usually." They grinned, "What about it do you want to know exactly?"
"Everything!"
