Believe me
With this, I sent Verlice back to the mansion so he could sleep.
Since Verlice had worked on most of the document, it wasn’t hard for me to complete the leftover portion.
By the time I left the office, it was still very early. I took a deep stretch and walked out of the office.
I decided to stroll around the pack first and take a look at the pack members.
I had just taken a few steps when I saw Tiara greeting two ladies.
“Hello,” Tiara sweetly greeted.
The duo’s eyes turned cold; without casting a glance at Tiara, they tapped each other and left right away.
Tiara’s eyes dimmed and her shoulders fell, her mood downcast.
I hurried toward her and asked with concern,
“How is it going?”
Tiara shook her head and deeply exhaled.
“I don’t know what to do, Elsher. All day I have been trying to make these people realize that I have changed, but I seem to have offended them deeply. Perhaps I was so bad that they didn’t even think of me as a fellow pack member. All of them kept shunning me and ignoring me.”
Tiara looked in the direction those girls passed.
“These two were quite nice. Unlike others, they didn’t yell at me or do other stuff. They only shunned me, which was a lot better than the treatment I have been receiving ever since I tried to show them my changes.”
I wrapped my arm around Tiara’s shoulder and gently patted her to comfort her.
“You have to calm down. They will come around and it’ll be fine. You have been so cold and unreachable to them all this time. There is no way anybody will believe such things so easily, so be patient and calm.”
Tiara took a deep breath and held my hand.
“Thank you, Elsher. If it wasn’t for you, I don’t know what I would have done. I might have committed suicide or taken steps I shouldn’t have to end it…”
“Don’t speak like this.” I cut her off firmly.
“Verlice wouldn’t be happy to hear it. He wouldn’t. So you have to push on, not only for him, not only for your mate, but also for your parents who wouldn’t want to see you in such a state. I believe they must be watching over you and doing their best to protect you.”
Tiara’s eyes looked up at the sky and tears pooled in her eyes slowly.
“Do you think they are watching me? What if one day I get to walk my wedding altar and both of them aren’t there?”
I held her hand.
“Don’t be anxious. I believe it wasn’t their wish to leave you to face this cruel world alone. And I believe they are making up for it by staying in the sky, looking down at you and protecting you from any danger. Don’t be afraid. They will never forget their promise, and they will always keep watching you.”
Tiara hugged me close and said,
“Thank you, Elsher. I am so happy that all this happened with you here. If it wasn’t for you, I would never feel the relief I currently have. I am happy that I have you. Elsher, can you be my friend?”
She asked while looking at me very nervously.
I smiled and nodded my head without hesitation.
“Yes, Tiara, I will be your friend.”
Tiara threw her arms around my neck and exclaimed,
“Thank you. Thank you so much.”
I patted her back.
I swung my hand as I made my way into the mansion, humming and beaming from ear to ear.
When I saw Verlice, I waved my hands at him eagerly and ran to him.
Verlice had just woken up. I could see it on his face as he walked down the stairs. He pulled me closer and placed his chin on my shoulder.
“You are in a happy mood,” he declared.
My lips curled up and a smile appeared on my face. I nodded my head.
“Yes, I am in a happy mood. I finally had a close relationship with Tiara and I have a new friend too, except for the one I have at the Starry Park. This is such a great achievement for me.”
Verlice nodded his head.
“Ok, that is good for you.”
“What? She is someone you protected. You don’t want me to be friends with her?” I asked calmly.
Verlice shook his head.
“No. I want both of you to have a good relationship. Just be careful,” he stated.
“I know. I know what I am doing. And I know that Tiara is a good person. Anyway, I won’t let my soft heart be used against me.”
Verlice nodded in satisfaction.
“Should we have dinner outside?” Verlice held my hand and began to lead me out of the mansion.
I nodded my head.
“Whatever you want.”
With that, Verlice led me toward the forest.
“I haven’t seen your wolf before,” I stated and held his hand while he led me into the forest.
“Do you want to see him today? He has been eager to meet you.”
I lowered my head and my heart panged.
“Only if I had a wolf, he would have been happy with her.”
Verlice immediately grabbed my shoulder and stopped me. He looked into my eyes with sincerity.
“Elsher, whether you have or don’t have a wolf, we will always love you. And it won’t lessen our love for you either way. We still want you, whether you have a wolf or not. Believe me.”
My heart softened and I nodded my head.
“That day when you met me at the forest...” I began to confess.
At the mention of the word, Verlice’s body turned tense and I knew that it wasn’t a good memory for him.
I stroked his hand in order to help him calm down.
“I wasn’t planning on committing suicide,” I revealed.
Verlice’s eyes swept toward me. “What do you mean?” he asked, his voice filled with confusion.
“Actually, Oliver and I…”
Before I could complete my words, Verlice’s expression turned gloomy, as if he didn’t want to hear the mention of Oliver’s name.
