Chapter 37 Going to the Hospital to See Her, She Is with Someone Else
"Sorry, Mr. Brown, I didn't hold him steady." The caregiver turned around and said nervously when she saw William.
William waved his hand, then turned Finn over.
"I'll do it."
William said, taking the towel from the caregiver's hand and personally wiping Finn down.
After the caregiver brought the water basin over, she left. In the VIP room, there were only William and Finn.
After he finished wiping Finn's back, he turned Finn over again.
Finn was still in a daze and couldn't help with the movement. A man weighing over two hundred pounds required considerable strength to move, even William had to put in some effort.
After turning him over, he wiped the front.
But when the towel touched the water again, William noticed that the warm water from before had gone cold, so he had to go to the bathroom to get another basin of hot water.
He repeated the washing process.
By the time he had wiped Finn's entire body clean, half an hour had passed.
William's forehead was covered with sweat.
When he finished, he actually let out a light sigh of relief.
Then he immediately froze.
So this was how tiring it was to wipe down an elderly person?
He was stronger than Amelia, had more strength, and it was still this hard.
What about her then?
William looked at Finn on the bed, but in his mind was the image of Amelia bustling about.
After just a brief pause, William withdrew his gaze.
William carried the basin to empty the water, then prepared to ask the doctor about Finn's condition.
But before he reached the corner, he heard someone talking.
"...Yeah, my back hurts so much. Taking care of patients every day, I'm so tired." It was the caregiver from earlier.
Standing next to her was another thinner caregiver.
The thin caregiver said, "You're tired? Aren't you taking care of Finn? Everyone knows Finn is the easiest and pays the most."
Finn's caregiver nodded and said, "That's true, but after Mrs. Brown stopped coming, things haven't been easy for me."
"Really?" the thin caregiver said in surprise.
"You just don't know." Finn's caregiver said while pounding her back, "Mrs. Brown is very devoted. She used to visit Finn often, and whenever she was here, she'd do many things herself, and very carefully too, better than many other caregivers."
The thin caregiver didn't believe it. "Really? From what I've seen in online gossip, her reputation isn't very good. Didn't they say she turned a blind eye to her husband keeping a mistress because she wanted to enjoy the good life?"
Finn's caregiver slapped the thin caregiver. "You believe that online gossip?"
"You and I are both caregivers, we know how hard it is to take care of sick elderly people. The Brown family is so wealthy and powerful, if Mrs. Brown wanted to enjoy life, why would she do this hard work?"
The thin caregiver was still uncertain. "Wasn't she just pretending?"
"Even if she wanted to pretend, she could just do it in front of Mr. Brown. Why go to this extent?" The caregiver said, rubbing her back. "Haven't you noticed William has been coming to the hospital more frequently lately?"
The thin caregiver nodded.
"The housekeepers at home aren't as attentive." The caregiver let out a long sigh and said, "Well, it's not that they're not attentive, it's just that Mrs. Brown used to be more caring, so Finn was very well taken care of."
"Mrs. Brown too, she never used to get so exhausted that she collapsed."
The thin caregiver was very surprised. "So that's how it is. I thought..."
The two were still chatting about gossip, while William stood on the other side of the corner for a long time.
Finn was the most important person in the family. The people arranged to care for him were always the best.
Whether it was the family doctor, nurses, caregivers, or housekeepers, the number and quality were sufficient, even more than enough.
But there was a big difference between professional care and truly attentive, devoted care.
He had never thought about this issue before.
He still remembered that day when Amelia held his hand and said to him, "William, I'll take good care of Grandpa, don't worry."
He had also seen the nursing care books she bought at home.
He had flipped through them and saw her annotated notes.
She had studied them very seriously.
William lowered his eyes slightly.
The things she said, the promises she made, it seemed she had kept every single one.
This was a patient care facility, and Evergreen Hospital wasn't far from here.
He didn't know if she was still there.
Should he go and see her?
...
Meanwhile.
Evergreen Hospital.
It was already noon.
Mia said her friend hadn't replied to her yet, so she was going to find them during lunch break.
So the task of bringing lunch to Amelia fell to Dash.
Amelia had already been transferred from intensive care to a private room.
"Don't worry, your information has security clearance. It's hard for reporters to dig up your medical records from the hospital. My dad is the hospital director, he's reliable for small things like this."
That's what Mia had told Amelia earlier.
The editing for "Voice of Heaven" was fast. The show was just recorded yesterday, and the edited version went online at noon today.
When Dash brought the food over, Amelia was watching TV.
She wanted to see what the edited version of "Yesterday Once More" looked like.
But she was disappointed. It was still similar to the previous live stream clips.
It seemed Jeffrey hadn't successfully dealt with Zaid yet.
And that wasn't all. She also saw some disgusting content.
While she was singing, they showed the reaction of Isabella, who was a judge sitting in the backstage hall.
Isabella was shown with red eyes saying, "It was sung so beautifully. This sense of storytelling reminds me of some things from the past."
With red eyes but looking strong, she talked about her past before she became famous.
"Back then, Floral Haven wasn't as big as it is now. I was just a florist running around everywhere. When I saw the Brown Group's bidding for flowers and plants for their company building, I gathered my courage and bid too."
"I didn't think I would win the bid, since everyone there was very capable. I just went to gain some experience."
"But I was very lucky. The contract was divided into many parts, and I happened to get that one small part, supplying flowers to the CEO's office and the secretarial department."
"It was because of this collaboration that I actually met Mr. Brown in person."
Isabella smiled. "He's more handsome than on TV."
"This is also my connection with the Brown Group."
...
Amelia felt disgusted watching it.
So they had known each other from even earlier.
On TV, Isabella was still going on and on about things between her and William, when a hand reached over, took the remote control, and changed the channel.
Amelia looked up to see Dash smiling and waving the remote control in his hand.
"Why watch her?" Dash teased. "Why not watch me instead?"
Really, Dash was quite reliable at work, but in private he was frivolous and carefree.
Amelia rolled her eyes speechlessly. "Why would I watch you?"
Dash held up the lunch box in his hand. "Watch the food in my hand."
Then he made an exaggerated sniffing gesture.
He said, "Smells amazing."
Amelia couldn't help but laugh.
The two were talking when, at the same time, an Aston Martin pulled into Evergreen Hospital's parking lot.
William got out of the car and looked up at the entrance to the inpatient building.
