Chapter 30: Don't Come to See Us Without Finding Amelia
After "Tiny Love" officially launches, this lawyer's letter can be sent at any time.
After all, what was sold was the right to use the song. Now there isn't even a credit attribution - this joke has gone too far.
Jeffrey's slightly cunning laughter came from the other end. "Great minds think alike. I'm preparing it now."
"But," Amelia lowered her eyes slightly and said, "send it to her personally, don't post it online."
"What's your thinking?" Jeffrey asked.
"A lawyer's letter serves as a warning and notification," Amelia said calmly. "That's the proper procedure."
Jeffrey chuckled. "I understand."
Smart people get it right away.
Jeffrey's hot temper was real, but in the Adams family where internal conflicts were so severe, the fact that he could become CEO of the Adams Group despite his two older brothers having a many-year head start on adulthood showed just how capable he was.
Both Jeffrey and Amelia knew that Isabella currently held the "person on death's door" get-out-of-jail-free card.
If they made a public statement now, even though they'd be fighting for their legal rights, they would still be seen as the bad guys in public opinion.
Many people sympathize with the weak and would say: Isabella is dying, and all the Adams Group cares about is themselves.
Public sentiment has always been important for listed companies, with significant impact on stock prices.
They could only wait - wait for the right moment to strike decisively.
But they couldn't take no action at all.
Sending a lawyer's letter to a designated email was one link in the chain of timeline and evidence.
Leaving a trail.
Was very important.
She didn't know what Isabella's purpose was in doing all this, but she, Amelia, had never been one to sit and wait for defeat!
After exchanging a few more words, Amelia put down her phone.
Just as she set it down, her phone vibrated again.
Amelia looked at Finn's name on the screen, her lips pressed slightly together.
Over the past few days, the two elders had contacted her many times, and she hadn't answered.
She didn't know how to face them.
Especially Finn, whose health wasn't good to begin with.
Just put it off for now.
With that thought, Amelia declined the call once again.
The dressing room door was knocked on, and a staff member urged: "Lika, all contestants have finished performing. It's time to go on stage for the team selection segment."
"Okay, thank you," Amelia responded.
Just as she was about to get up, her phone vibrated again.
But this time was different.
The message she received was on her other SIM card.
She glanced at the message, looking thoughtful.
"Lika?" Sable beside her spoke up. "Is something wrong?"
"Nothing," Amelia collected herself, then stood up. "Let's go."
With Sable's support, she walked toward the stage.
...
Meanwhile, elsewhere.
The Brown Group, top floor.
As soon as William arrived, he felt something was off - all the employees in the secretary's office had their heads down, not making a sound.
Rhys pushed open the CEO's office door. William had just walked in when a cane came flying at him.
William instinctively dodged.
"You dare to dodge!"
An angry, familiar voice came. William looked up to see Finn standing in front of him.
"Grandpa."
Seeing Finn unsteady on his feet, William stepped forward to help.
Finn took the opportunity to strike William's arm with his cane.
"You still know I'm your grandfather," Finn said, his chest heaving with anger as he pointed at William and scolded, "I don't have a grandson like you!"
"Didn't you go watch that woman Isabella's performance? What are you doing back here!"
As Finn spoke, he pointed to a screen on the side.
William glanced over. The screen was playing a live broadcast of "Voice of Heaven," currently at the judge team selection segment.
Isabella was inviting team members to join her team.
"Still watching!" Finn's scolding voice rose again.
William looked away, saying helplessly, "Grandpa."
Seeing Finn ignore him, he turned to Cleo for help.
"Grandma..."
"Don't call me that, I'm also very angry."
Cleo gently patted Finn's back to calm him while saying, "Your grandfather and I have been together for so many years, and he has never let another woman bully me. I thought you, as a child we raised from childhood, would also be good to Amelia. Now I see I was wrong."
"Grandma..."
"Don't call me grandma. Go find Amelia right now," Finn said furiously. "You have a wife, yet you go watch your mistress perform, and it even gets broadcast live. The things people are saying online are so awful - Amelia must be so upset seeing all this."
Finn pointed his cane at William and ordered: "I don't care what method you use - make a vow, get on your knees and beg her - just bring her back to me!"
All this happened so fast that the office door was still open - Rhys hadn't had time to close it.
So Finn's loud scolding of William echoed throughout the entire floor.
William covered his arm where Finn had struck him, his lips pressed together.
He said, "Did Amelia complain to you about me?"
Finn became even more furious, raising his cane to strike again.
Cleo quickly steadied Finn.
Finn's health wasn't good to begin with. After two strikes, his face turned pale and he nearly fainted.
"Grandpa," William reached out to help, but Cleo pushed him away.
Cleo called Rhys over while turning her back to William and saying:
"William, your parents weren't around when you were growing up. We two don't know how to raise children properly. That we've raised you to be like this is our fault."
Cleo's tone was calm, but her words were deeply hurtful.
William suddenly began to panic.
Cleo didn't look back at him, only had Rhys help Finn into a wheelchair and push him toward the elevator.
William tried to step forward again, but Cleo said:
"If you want to anger your grandfather to death, go ahead and follow."
"Don't come see us until you've brought Amelia back." Cleo threw out one last sentence before entering the elevator.
William stood in place.
On the entire floor, not a single employee dared to speak.
They all acted as if they were deaf and mute.
The whole floor was incredibly quiet, with only the sound from the live broadcast on the screen.
In the footage, Isabella held the microphone, saying with certainty: "Lika, you're very talented, and I really appreciate you. If we could form a team together, we could definitely present you with an amazing stage. I'll work hard to help you succeed, so will you join my team?"
The host hyped up the moment: "Ladies and gentlemen, our judge Isabella has officially invited Lika to join her team. Now let's see what Lika chooses!"
On screen, the woman wearing the burning flame rose performance costume stepped forward. She took the microphone from the host's hand.
