Chapter 147: You Speak for Her Like This, Do You Like Her?
William instantly became alert, his eyes narrowing dangerously as he stared coldly at York.
"That's right, York, stop him quick!" Otis jogged over from behind.
Following further back was Xyla.
York still had that refined and elegant look about him.
"Whatever you want to say to her, say it here. Don't bully her." York was still smiling, but his smile carried a warning.
William paused for a moment, his gaze shifting from York's face to Amelia, his eyes questioning.
"Don't think of me and her as something dirty," York said bluntly. "I just really admire Lika."
"Me too!" Otis stepped forward and said, "I've been a fan for ages, everyone knows that!"
Xyla nodded as well.
The tension in the air was thick.
Just then—
"William, you guys..." Isabella said pitifully, about to say something.
"Shut up!" Jeffrey was fed up and snapped at her directly. "I've never seen anyone as two-faced as you!"
"Jeffrey!" William immediately stopped Jeffrey, his brows furrowed tightly, as if warning him.
"Why are you calling me?" Jeffrey was also angry. "You divorced Amelia for this bitch, you..."
"It's my fault." Isabella immediately said through tears, "It's my fault, I didn't know Lika was..."
"You!" Jeffrey was absolutely furious, but he couldn't do anything about Isabella, so he could only fume in silence.
"If you want to talk, talk properly. Stop crying," Xyla spoke up from the side. "Didn't Mr. Brown just say he had something to tell Amelia? Perfect, we can be witnesses, so no one gets wronged."
All of this happened within a minute. In just a moment, a heated argument had erupted here, drawing the attention of others.
Amelia felt a headache coming on.
She looked at William: "Just like they said, if you have something to say, say it."
There was a moment of sadness in William's eyes.
He opened his mouth, seeming to want to say something, but as his gaze swept over everyone present, he swallowed his words.
After about three seconds of silence.
Amelia just looked at him quietly.
"Amelia, can we set a time to talk alone?" William finally asked sadly.
Amelia looked at him with pity.
"No," she said.
Then she withdrew her gaze and said, "I just finished performing, I'm a bit tired and need to rest."
Amelia turned to the Jenkins family members and smiled politely in thanks.
Then she said to Jeffrey and Sable nearby, "Let's go, I'm a bit thirsty."
The whole time, she didn't look at William or Isabella again.
Jeffrey understood what Amelia meant and said to her, "There's water prepared in the lounge, let's go."
Amelia nodded.
It wasn't until they walked to the steps nearby, almost entering the camera range, that William turned around and looked sadly at Amelia's slender back.
"Amelia," he called out to Amelia again.
But Amelia didn't turn back.
With Sable's support, she dragged her performance costume and disappeared around the corner.
Only the Jenkins family members, William, and Isabella remained here.
Otis and Xyla were discussing what to eat later, York was listening beside them as usual, and the three chatted while walking outside.
William lowered his eyes slightly, looking at the spot where Amelia had just stood. There were still traces left by the plaster falling from her performance costume.
Isabella took all of this in, grinding her teeth almost to dust.
But she still couldn't show it, only saying with a puzzled expression: "I really didn't expect that Lika was Amelia."
She said meaningfully: "Didn't they say during the first livestream that she was injured ten days ago and couldn't come to rehearsal?"
William still didn't look at her.
Over there, Otis, who hadn't left yet, suddenly turned back and said with an "innocent" expression: "I heard she really was injured."
"I heard she rolled down the stairs," Otis said as if gossiping. "She was hurt pretty badly, I heard she couldn't even get out of bed."
Otis made a sarcastic remark: "Wonder who did it."
William looked at the plaster marks on the ground, his fingertips trembling slightly.
"Xyla, you're a woman, what would you do if this happened to you?" Otis continued with his sarcasm, asking Xyla beside him.
Xyla played along with Otis: "What can you do? When your heart is dead, you just have to live well."
Otis nodded seriously.
Isabella was fuming but still held back for the sake of her image.
She wanted to say something with an innocent expression, but Otis had already blocked her with his words.
"The medical report Jeffrey gave back then must have been fake. You know what Amelia was like ten days before that, but her injuries were real."
"Anyone with eyes could clearly see what condition Lika was in during the previous episodes."
Isabella finally couldn't hold back and said, "Mr. Jenkins, you're speaking up for her like this—do you like her?"
Otis looked as if he'd heard a joke.
"Of course I like her, what's the problem?" he said matter-of-factly. "Doesn't everyone already know I'm a fan?"
Otis showed a very surprised expression.
"Wasn't I obvious enough?"
After saying this, he rolled his eyes and followed York to get something good to eat.
Only William and Isabella remained here.
They were silent for a long time without speaking.
On the other side, the Jenkins family members had already walked out. Otis looked at York, seeking praise: "York, how did I do!"
York smiled and nodded: "Not bad."
"Then give me less work this month, I'm so tired." Otis tried to bargain.
York gave him a smile.
Otis immediately became scared.
"Okay, okay..." Otis begged for mercy, looking helpless. "York, why don't you help her yourself? You always use me as a shield."
When they walked out of the venue and got in the car, York finally said: "She hasn't agreed yet. I need to consider her wishes. Forcibly announcing my feelings to everyone would also be a burden to her."
So, knowing the right balance was important.
Using Otis's fandom as an excuse, at least she wouldn't be put off.
She always took her work seriously.
"Okay..." Otis seemed to half-understand.
...
On the other side, Amelia and the others had already sat down in the lounge.
At this moment, their group chat was very lively.
Under Soren's leadership, they had launched a full-scale attack.
Before, some people had suspected whether Lika and Amelia had worked together.
But later, after the plaster mask was removed and Amelia's brilliant singing, no one doubted it anymore.
Lika was Amelia, Amelia was Lika, without a doubt.
Then the discussion turned to the issue of donation fraud.
Amelia definitely didn't have any donation fraud issues, but then the question arose—
"Since what William donated was the marital property of him and Amelia, then is Isabella actually the one who committed donation fraud?"
