Chapter 117 She Loves You So Much
Three lunches.
In the end, William only took a small bite of each and stopped.
He looked out the window at the scenery. In early May, the heat was slowly rising.
He stared for a long, long time.
He felt so empty around him at this moment.
As if there should be another person beside him.
Finn's letter was locked in the drawer. He didn't know how he felt about it.
"William." Isabella, who had finished packing the lunch boxes, walked over.
William glanced at her, signaling her to speak.
"William, could you... lend me some money?" Isabella looked very embarrassed. "The studio is having some cash flow problems. I'll pay you back soon."
"How much?" William asked.
"Five million dollars." Isabella said, her voice getting even lower.
William took out his phone.
Isabella's phone vibrated once, and then she smiled and thanked him: "Thank you, William!"
William didn't have much of a reaction. His heart remained calm.
However, after watching Isabella leave happily, he suddenly said to Rhys: "Cancel everything I have this afternoon and evening."
Rhys nodded to show he understood.
"Tomorrow too. Cancel it." William paused slightly before continuing.
Rhys was slightly stunned. This meant that once the cooling-off period ended today, they would go get the divorce certificate tomorrow.
He looked at William deeply, but in the end did nothing, only responding: "Okay."
After William finished giving instructions, he left with his car keys and coat.
"Mr. Brown, where are you going?" Rhys immediately asked.
But William just waved his hand.
Rhys understood - no need to look for him after this.
William drove his Maybach around the city alone.
He didn't know where he wanted to go. He felt like a cloud floating in mid-air, with no place to land.
The car drove and drove, finally stopping in a villa area.
This was where Jasper's family used to live.
Not far away on the other side was where William lived as a child.
William opened the car door and walked step by step toward that house.
Many years had passed, and this small mansion had become old.
As cheerful laughter came through, William saw that the house had changed owners.
After Jasper died and faced liquidation, this house was sold too.
William stood there, watching the happy family of three inside. He seemed to see again that summer when Amelia's family of three was there.
The adult couple dancing together, the little girl laughing and playing music beside them.
The fiery red dance dress constantly swirling, the smile on the little girl's face he would never forget.
"Don't run! You'll fall!" a voice called out.
The daughter of the house's new owners had somehow run over.
Running too fast, she suddenly fell to the ground and was crying.
William crouched down, took out his handkerchief and wiped away the little girl's tears, as if trying to wipe away someone else's tears.
"Don't cry." he said, then opened his large palm, held the little girl's hand, and helped her up.
"Thank you, thank you Mr. Brown." The people inside ran out and immediately thanked him.
Everyone living in this area knew who William was.
William waved his hand to show it didn't matter.
He looked down at the little girl again.
The little girl had stopped crying, just looking at him a bit fearfully.
The corner of his mouth suddenly lifted, William smiled.
Then he straightened up and turned to leave.
For those few moments just now, he had actually seen that little girl as Amelia.
Amelia from that year, watching Jasper die before her eyes, helpless.
The Amelia who hadn't yet looked at him with cold eyes.
William let out a long sigh and got back in the car.
Where else should he go?
He didn't know, just kept driving.
The car drove very, very far, finally arriving at a desolate corner.
Located nearby was a massive building.
Shadow City's prison.
The car stopped. William knew who he wanted to see.
After completing all the procedures, William sat in his seat, looking at the man on the other side.
When the man saw him, he first let out a cold laugh, then picked up the phone.
William also picked up the phone.
"How does the busy Mr. Brown have time to see me?" the man said sarcastically.
But William just looked at the man before him.
Lon Ramos, Amelia's stepfather.
"What did Amelia send you to tell me?" Lon asked angrily.
"Not her, it's me." William finally spoke.
"Not her?" Lon was somewhat surprised. "What do you have to say to me?"
"When you sent me in here, you said someone like me wasn't worthy of talking to you."
William just kept looking at Lon.
He wore prison clothes. In these few years inside, he had become leaner than before, looking like he was doing neither well nor badly.
Seeing William not speaking, Lon seemed to notice something was wrong too.
"If you won't talk, I will." Lon thought for a moment and said, "In the years I've been in here, how have things been with you and Amelia?"
William didn't answer.
"Dating?"
"Wait, didn't you like her back then? She loved you to death too, hahaha."
He continued: "Are you married?"
William nodded, but then paused.
Seeing this, Lon shook his head with a light sigh.
"Amelia actually married you. I know you two have deep feelings, and I know before Beatrix got together with me, Amelia lived a rich person's life too, but isn't the Brown family very powerful? Could your family accept her?"
William nodded again.
Now Lon was getting excited.
"Then she's amazing, able to win everyone over. How did she do it?"
As if he hadn't talked to anyone from outside in a long time, Lon seemed very excited and curious.
Perhaps, it was because of sincerity and dedication.
Although at first the two married because of Finn's illness, later on, both Finn and Cleo valued her highly.
"Fine, don't tell me. But what exactly did you come here for? Just to chat with me?" Lon said.
As if thinking of something, he asked: "Did something happen to Amelia?"
William lowered his eyes slightly.
"We're getting divorced." William said.
Although it was fake, and they would remarry in six months, he still felt sad.
"Divorced?" Lon was truly shocked. "Your family doesn't like her?"
"Hahaha, she's really unlucky. She loved you so much, and now she's become an abandoned woman. I bet she'll cry her eyes dry!"
Lon was still laughing loudly.
Time was up. William put down the phone and left.
He took one last look at the laughing Lon.
It wasn't that his family didn't like Amelia - it was he who proposed the divorce to Amelia.
"Let's go." someone urged.
William withdrew his gaze and walked outside.
He thought for a while before understanding that he came here to see Lon just to hear Lon say that one sentence - "She loved you so much."
