Chapter 10

The water washed off the after sex glow but a part of me was still scared Gunner might know I was with someone else. I shouldn't care honestly he and I weren't involved. Gunner and I walked in the backyard. If I stood on my toes I could look into the neighbour's yard.

"I'm sorry I wasn't there for you yesterday," Gunner said.

Hearing Gunner say he was sorry didn't feel right. I was used to him barking, snapping and hackling at me. He'd really grown up. He had to mature if he was going to run a pack.

"It's okay, you weren't around."

He exhaled. "I only told Dash that because I was pissed. I went after vamp."

I stopped. "You went after Keegan? Why?"

He stopped too and turned to me.

"He attacked you and if that isn't enough vamps are banned from the pack. No one touches you but me."

I rolled my eyes. "No one gets to harass me but you? How wonderful."

He snatched my arm before I marched back to the house. He yanked me against his body.

"That's not what I mean. I've always been protective of you, Zora."

"Ha!"

"Hey, I mean it. I took it too far but that's because I wanted you and I couldn't have you."

My heart nearly stopped. "Huh?" I squeaked.

He groaned and released me. I grabbed his wrist.

"You're not leaving me hanging, Gunner."

"It's not important now we have a vampire to catch."

My phone rang and distracted me from my next question. If he wanted me why didn't he just ask me out on a date? Instead of decreeing any guy who asks out the dirty human will be deemed pack scum. My blood boiled as I pulled out my phone from my jeans.

"Hello?"

Sobbing came from the other end. "Zora."

"Alexa? What's wrong?"

"It's Mia! She's been murdered!"

My blood turned to ice and I nearly dropped my phone. Mia was a new member of staff in her first year of college.

"They found her in the yard torn to shreds," Alexa sobbed.

"Please tell me this is a sick early Halloween joke."

"No, the police want all members of staff to answer questions."

I called in sick yesterday. Mia was the one who filled in my two shifts. I can't believe she's dead.

"Zora," Gunner said.

He was a wolf I knew he heard the entire conversation.

"I have to go," I said.

"If she was torn to shreds it may have something to do with my community. I'm coming with."

I sat in the backseat while Gunner drove and Kaleb sat in the passenger seat. I had a feeling this had something to do with the man I caught in Mr Dean's room. Oh no, what if they hurt him too? Mia could have stumbled upon the man too and he killed her.

We arrived at the old folk's home. An ambulance was parked in the driveway and two police cars. Dash's army green monster vehicle parked next to the ambulance. All the elderly people were kept inside. There wouldn't be any outdoor activities today.

I rushed inside to find Alexa while Kaleb and Gunner found out what was going on.

"Alexa," I said.

She wrapped her arms around my body and sobbed. "I saw her. It was awful."

"Who could have done this? Mia got along with everyone."

Alexa shook her head. "I don't get it either. She's a strong wolf but it looks like she was completely overpowered."

Dash walked through the front door. He scanned the room until he found me.

"Hey we need to talk, privately," Dash said.

I nodded and excused myself from Alexa. I took Dash to a vacant room.

"What's up? Besides the obvious."

Dash locked the door.

"You were supposed to be on duty yesterday evening and this morning," he stated.

"Yeah."

"That girl was killed between ten and eleven last night."

"I get off at ten," I whispered.

Dash stood inches away from me. "Zora, Mia resembles your height weight and hair colour."

"What are you saying?" My limbs trembled. "She was killed because of me," my voice cracked.

"No! Whoever you saw here knows you can ID him. He got it wrong so wrong."

"Do you have his scent? Please tell me you do."

He shook his head and sucked in his bottom lip.

"The only scent at the scene is hers. That's not a good sign."

"Is Mr Dean okay?" I asked.

"Everyone's fine. Zora, things are dangerous."

"What do you want me to do? Stay in my house for the rest of my life? No."

"No?" He cupped my cheeks and backed me to the bed. "I'll lock you in my bedroom to keep you safe. Don't be so stubborn!"

"Nowhere is safe, Dash. Not my house, not my job, hiding won't solve anything."

He growled and shoved me on the bed. I gasped at the same time my nipples quickly hardened.

"Little warrior, this is no time to be difficult."

He hadn't called me that in so long. It turned me on.

"What are you going to do about it?" I whispered and bit my bottom lip.

An internal battle raged within Dash. When desire won over the reason he climbed on the bed, grabbed my thighs and wrapped my legs around his waist. He unbuttoned my jeans and lowered them over my hips, revealing a red lace underwear.

"Is that all you got?" I panted.

"Little warrior you don't want to provoke the beast in me."

"I want him."

Dash growled. "He wants you too."

He yanked my jeans off, the rough motion, burning my skin but I liked it. He fisted my underwear and snapped it off as if I wouldn't need it later. Dash lowered himself to my vagina, making me instantly wet and then paused.

"Can you keep your voice down?"

I bit my lip in response.

Dash smirked. He closed his mouth on my clit in a soft kiss. I arched my back and hissed. Dash grabbed my thighs to keep me from moving. He kissed my sensitive bud fiercely I struggled to contain my cries.

"Dash," I gasped.

He ran his tongue along my entrance, teasing me with penetration. I moved my hips closer, begging and pleading with him for more.

Dash chuckled. "Yes, Little warrior, smother me with your tantalizing scent."

Heat rushed to my face but embarrassment lasted a moment when pleasure was involved. Dash withdrew his face. He ran his fingers down my bud and rubbed gently.

I groaned. "Please, Dash, please."

"Only because you asked so nicely," he chuckled.

His fingers penetrated me. I arched my back and let out a silent cry.

"Still so tight," Dash grunted.

He plunged his fingers inside me, searching and finding my G-spot. This time I cried out as my orgasm crash landed and something else… a burst of water.
