Chapter 24
Grace had never seen Antonio like this before.
Even during the nights after Livia had gone abroad, when he had drowned himself in alcohol, he had not shown such a look of sheer terror and despair.
However, ever since what happened yesterday, the last shred of respect and fear Grace had for him had vanished.
She used to have feelings for Antonio, but she never forgot who she was and never dared to overstep her bounds.
Grace had done so much for Antonio. Even when she realized that she would not get his love no matter what, she had once hoped for a modicum of respect in return.
Reality, however, slapped her hard in the face.
Antonio never really took her seriously, trampling on her genuine feelings as if she were a mere servant.
Actually, if his behavior had been directed only at her, Grace might have been able to endure it. After all, the Kauf- man family had been kind to her.
However, Antonio’ disruption at Liana’s grave crossed the line for Grace.
Although just a nanny, Liana had taken good care of Antonio since he was born. Therefore, even if Antonio had not felt much gratitude for Liana, he should at least have shown her some respect.
However, the truth was that he looked down on her whole family from the bottom of his heart, with no regard for the fundamental decency of honoring the dead.
When she left the cemetery, Grace felt very guilty for Liana.
Before Liana passed away, she had repeatedly warned Grace to give up on Antonio.
However, she failed her. Even worse, she could not prevent Antonio from disturbing Liana’s peace even so long after
her death.
At that moment, Grace finally cast off the burdens that had weighed on her for a decade.
She no longer saw Antonio as her superior and boss, an unchallengeable authority.
Instead, she regarded him as an ordinary person.
To her, he became an ordinary man with power and influence, yet with an inflated sense of self-importance.
Therefore, facing Antonio, who had lost his cool, Grace felt no more fear.
She raised her hand and prized away his fingers one by one.

Meanwhile, she said in an indifferent voice, “It’s been over between us for a long time, Antonio. You should say that to Livia.”
Her words pierced through Antonio like a sharp sword.
He shook his head and said in a hoarse voice, “No, the one I love is you. Give me one more chance, please. I’ll marry you. I swear I will!”
This was what Grace had once longed to hear.
However, hearing it now, she felt nothing.
Reflecting on what she had been through, the scars on her body, and her trampled self-esteem, she didn’t recognize that as love.

Grace had seen how Antonio acted when he truly loved someone, so she would not be deceived by such lies anymore.
Therefore, she turned away, softly uttering her final, heartfelt words.
“Well, your love is really disgusting then.”
Watching Grace leave with no hesitation, Antonio felt something inside him slipping away, never to return.
He desperately wanted to hold on to it, frantically trying to catch up with her. Unfortunately, he was tripped by the metal stand.
The sharp needle punctured through his thin skin, leaving a trail of blood on the ground.
Antonio was oblivious to it. He just looked up with his eyes filled with pain, hoping Grace would turn back.
However, she showed him no response.
A nurse, hearing the commotion, rushed over and blocked his view.
He hung his head dejectedly, devoid of the strength to rise again.
Voices reached his ears, but Antonio could no longer make out what was being said.
Tears welled up and fell from his face to the ground, blending with the bloodstains.
