Chapter 208: Lisa
Sylvia reached out and poked his tense arm, a slight smile playing at the corners of her mouth with a teasing tone, "Mr. Smith, good thing you didn't lose your mind over some supposed debt of gratitude."
Her words eased the tension on Henry's face a bit.
He grabbed her mischievous hand, kissed it, then turned his head to look at her with burning eyes, his expression more serious than ever before.
"Sylvia, in this lifetime, I will only ever love you," he said each word deliberately, as solemn as making a vow. "Other women, whoever they are, are no different to me than rocks on the roadside."
The devotion and focus in his eyes were almost drowning.
Sylvia's heart skipped a beat, her cheeks felt a bit hot, but she still snorted dismissively: "Who knows if you're just saying that."
Henry chuckled softly, kissed her hand again, his eyes full of affection, "Fine, then from now on you'll be in charge of supervising me, watching to see if I develop feelings for any other women."
His flirting skills were really getting better and better.
Sylvia pulled her hand back, but the frustration she'd felt because of Skylar had completely dissipated in his words.
The car drove smoothly on the road back to the city, the scenery outside the window flying backward.
Sylvia leaned against the seat back and suddenly remembered something else Frank had mentioned. She looked at Henry and said softly: "By the way, Frank said I have an uncle named Wilford Langley."
A flash of surprise crossed Henry's eyes—clearly this was the first time he'd heard of this too.
"I want to go to Sapphire Sky Guild headquarters," Sylvia said, looking out the window with a distant gaze. "To look into what happened with my mother back then, and also... to meet him."
Imogen's death had always been a knot in Sylvia's heart. No matter what, she wanted to ask Wilford about it and get to the bottom of everything.
"I'll go with you." Henry's response was almost immediate.
"No need," Sylvia shook her head, her expression serious. "A place like Sapphire Sky Guild—if you go with me, it'll actually be inconvenient. I'll go by myself."
She had the ability to protect herself, and Henry knew this better than anyone.
After a moment of silence, he finally nodded in compromise: "Alright, if you need any people, just say the word."
His understanding warmed Sylvia's heart.
But then, thinking it over, she felt something was off.
She turned her head, narrowed her eyes, and looked him up and down with mock suspicion, her tone carrying a hint of jealous accusation: "You agreed so quickly? Mr. Smith, are you eager for me to leave so you can have a secret meeting with Skylar?"
This sudden jealousy was like a feather lightly tickling Henry's heart, but it also instantly threw him into a panic.
Almost instinctively, he tightened his arms, holding her firmly in his embrace, his handsome face full of urgent explanation: "What are you talking about! I wish she'd stay far away from you! I'm afraid... afraid that if you deal with her alone, something might happen!"
Skylar was calculating and hiding secrets—how could he feel comfortable letting Sylvia be alone with her?
Watching him so nervous that even his ears were turning red, the smile in Sylvia's eyes deepened.
She reached out and poked his tense jawline, her tone light: "I was just joking with you. Look how scared you got."
Only then did Henry breathe a sigh of relief, but he still worriedly reminded her, "Then go and come back quickly, don't stay out too long."
"I want to go too!" Garth, who had been quietly clinging to Sylvia's pant leg, lifted his little face and announced firmly, "I want to protect Mommy!"
Sylvia laughed, bent down to pick up Garth, and kissed his soft cheek, "Okay, I'll take you with me."
Henry watched their affectionate interaction, feeling both sour and soft inside, but ultimately compromised.
He personally saw them to the door with endless reminders, looking so reluctant as if they wouldn't be back for a long time.
Following the location Frank had sent, Sylvia took Garth by taxi to a private dock by the sea.
Before long, a sleek white yacht came riding the waves, cutting a beautiful arc across the water and docking precisely at the berth.
Frank, wearing a black casual outfit, jumped out from the cockpit, followed by a girl with a high ponytail who looked lively and bright.
"Sylvia." Frank walked up to Sylvia, still wearing his usual expressionless look, though his eyes had softened considerably.
"This is my cousin, Lisa." He pointed to Lisa behind him.
Lisa immediately broke into a bright smile, waving enthusiastically: "Sylvia, hello!" Lisa's gaze was quickly drawn to Garth in Sylvia's arms, her eyes instantly lighting up, "Sylvia, your son is so adorable! Let me hold him!"
With that, Lisa reached out to take Garth.
But Garth was very wary. His little body twisted, hugging Sylvia's neck tightly, burying his face in the crook of her neck, only revealing a pair of bright eyes that secretly observed the overly enthusiastic Lisa.
Lisa wasn't embarrassed at all, withdrawing her hand with a grin, "He's got quite the personality. I like it!"
Sylvia smiled helplessly, patting Garth's back soothingly, then said to Frank: "Let's go."
The group boarded the yacht. To win over Garth, Lisa pulled out all kinds of snacks and toys, trying every trick to amuse him. Children can never resist temptation—before long, Garth had let down his guard and was giggling at her antics.
The yacht slowly left the dock, heading toward the deep blue sea.
The sea breeze, carrying a slightly salty and humid scent, brushed against their faces. Sylvia leaned against the railing, looking at the distant horizon where sea met sky, her mood lifting.
But this pleasant feeling didn't last long.
Just as the yacht entered open waters, Frank, seemingly to show off, suddenly jerked the steering wheel, making the entire yacht drift across the water's surface, kicking up huge waves.
Lisa and Garth let out excited screams.
But Sylvia only felt her stomach churning violently, a sudden wave of nausea rushing up her throat.
Her face turned pale, and she instinctively covered her mouth.
"Sylvia, exciting, right!" Frank turned around, wanting to take credit, but seeing her pale face, he froze.
Sylvia couldn't hold it in anymore. She turned and leaned over the railing, vomiting uncontrollably.
Now everyone panicked.
Frank immediately slowed the yacht down, standing there at a loss.
Lisa also stopped entertaining Garth and rushed over, patting Sylvia's back and offering her water.
