"It's almost boots weather," I commented to Michelle, as I tugged on my hoodie. "Emily, you will pull out your Uggs the moment it dips into the 60's," Michelle giggled, looking up from her phone at me. I rolled my eyes, unable to dispute as I looked out onto the soccer field. "So tell me about last night," Michelle said, as the boys jogged off the field for their pregame pep-talk. "What about it?" I asked, looking over at her. "Don't play dumb with me missy. I know you went out with Daniel." "Oh, that." "Yeah, that. So did you two end in the bedroom?" "Yeah." She nodded, her eyes studying mine. "Just say it," I said, with a laugh. "Like you even need my permission." "He's such a douchebag! I want to cut his nose off and feed to some squirrels or something. Why are going out with him again?" "We aren't going out," I defended. "It was one date." "And sex," she reminded me. "He's good in bed," I defended, my eyes flickering back out to the soccer field. The boys were still huddled for their pregame pep-talk. "Emily, what the actual hell?" "It's complicated." "That's a copout." "It most definitely is." She rolled her eyes. "Just tell me that you guys used protection." "I live in an apartment with those two," I said, gesturing towards my brother and Parker, who were standing side-by-side in the huddle. "Of course we used protection." She dropped the subject and the game started, Parker and Emmett taking the striker position. The game was anticlimactic, as expected. It was expected to be a blowout, and the Mustangs mercied the other team by the end of the first half, Emmett and Parker were pulled 20 minutes into the game. "Ready to go?" I asked Michelle. "All the games should be like this," she said, with a smile. "Right," I agreed, laughing as we descended the bleachers. I didn't bother waiting for Emmett and Parker after the game, knowing that Emmett was putting in late hours at the Auto Body shop, and that Parker was probably going to hit up some girl. "Thanks for the ride," I said to Michelle, as she dropped me off at my apartment complex. "Of course love," she said, blowing me a kiss. I caught it out of the air, pressing it to my heart with a laugh before heading inside. I went up to the apartment and went inside, flipping on the lights. I peeked out the window, but I didn't see Parker's car anywhere. So I went back to my room and put on an oversized, button-up t-shirt. I pulled on a pair of socks and then blasted the song Old Time Rock N Roll through the surround sound. I paid my tribute to Risky Business, complete with one of Emmett's soccer trophies as my microphone and a broom that doubled as a guitar and then later as a microphone. I collapsed down on the couch once I was finished, letting the laughter pour out until I was exhausted. Sometimes I forget how fun of a person I am. With a sigh I sat up, flipping on the TV and letting a rerun of Friends play through while I ordered some Crispers Summer Salad to be delivered to the apartment. While I was watching the Friends episode, Parker came home, surprisingly no girl attached to his arm. He stared at me for a couple of seconds. "What?" I asked, self-consciously. And then he dropped his pants. "What the hell are you doing?" I demanded, covering my eyes. "I thought we were having a no pants party," he said, his voice laced with amusement. And that's when I realized that I never put pants on after my Risky Business tribute. "If you're going to do a bit of Risky Business in here, at least clean up afterwards," Parker laughed. "Pull your pants back up," I demanded, my hand still over my eyes. "And then close your eyes." "Done and done." I opened my eyes to see him leaning against the counter, his pants back in their proper position, but his eyes trained on me. "Close your eyes!" I demanded. "I don't think you have anything to hide at this point." I threw a pillow at his face before standing up, pulling my shirt down as far as it would go before sliding back to my bedroom. I might as well enjoy my complete embarrassment. I pulled on a pair of sweatpants under my button-up Risky Business shirt before going back into the living room. Parker had changed the channel from Friends to South Park, I show I couldn't appreciate. I was going to protest, but our telephone rang. "Must be the front desk," Parker commented. My Crispers must be here. I went to grab my wallet as Parker went to leave the apartment. "Where are you going?" I asked him. "I left my phone in my car." "Oh." We left the apartment together and stepped in the elevator. "So did you see my 4 goals?" Parker asked, with a smirk. "And I saw Emmett's-" I was cut off by the lights in the elevator shutting off and the elevator lurching to a stop. I let out a scream, falling into the wall at the sudden stop. "Are you alright?" Parker asked, after a couple of seconds. "Fine," I answered, breathlessly. "Well that's great," he muttered. "Because one of us is bleeding." "How do you know you're bleeding?" "Because I can feel the cut on my arm?" I fumbled for my phone and turned on the flashlight. "Fuck," Parker muttered, covering his eyes as I accidentally shined it in his face. "My bad," I apologized, moving the flashlight down to his arm. He had a jagged cut running down his forearm, and was dripping blood onto the elevator floor. "Damn," we both muttered in unison. "Does it hurt?" I asked, flashing the flashlight back up to Parker's face. He immediately covered his face, shielding it from the light. "Sorry," I apologized again, moving the flashlight to the floor. "Not really, no," he said, answering my question. I put the flashlight on the elevator button panel, pressing the alarm button. I heard the alarm going off, but nothing happened. "It's weird that the lights shut off," Parker mused. "It's weird that the elevator shot off." "That too." I took a seat in the corner, placing my phone facedown so the flashlight shined up at the ceiling. I felt the elevator shake, and I could see Parker's shadow sitting in the opposite corner of the elevator. "Why were you going downstairs?" Parker asked me. "I ordered Crispers." I heard him laugh, and I rolled my eyes. Now I'd rather eat leftover yogurt, or whatever random food we had in the apartment, just so that I could've avoided this stupid elevator. "I thought maybe you were meeting your now boy toy." "It's not like that." "You seem to say that about a lot." "That's because people like to assume things that aren't true." Silence took over the elevator for a couple of moments.
