Zach was outside the company, and Sophia had just arrived not long ago but already wanted to leave. Therefore, Victor didn't believe she had something to do, but rather wanted to go out to see Zach.
Since Victor hadn't approved it, Sophia didn't dare to move around. However, she was clearly angry. She sat motionless in front of her desk, angrily glaring at Victor's office, her eyes almost spewing fire.
Didn't she know that Victor could see her from his office?
The phone in Victor's office could be directly connected to Sophia's phone. He slowly dialed Sophia's extension and asked, "Are you very dissatisfied with me?"
"Mr. Hastings, I would like to apply for a half-day leave," Sophia's voice was angry.
Even through a glass window, Victor could see Sophia's angry face. He suddenly became interested. "You really want to go out?"
Sensing hope, Sophia instantly smiled and asked cautiously, "Can I?"
"You can," Victor's voice was low, but Sophia outside the window was so happy that she almost jumped up from her chair. Victor continued to say with a smile, "I'll approve it next month."
"Next month?"
Excited Sophia accidentally bumped into the table, and it hurt so much that she had to cover her stomach, her eyes turning red. "Can't you do it today?"
"Today next month," Victor's tone was full of pride, as if issuing a command that couldn't be resisted.
Sophia buried her head in a pile of documents on the table and said, "I really want to rub you on the table!"
Her voice was very low, filled with intense hatred and dissatisfaction.
But Victor heard it and tapped the table with his fingers while smiling. "Come in. I allow you to do so. But are you brave enough?"
Sophia sighed helplessly.
Sophia felt helpless when she encountered someone like Victor. Even if Victor stood still in front of her, she didn't dare to do anything to him.
"Life is so exhausting. Men are all scoundrels," Sophia muttered quietly, leaning on the table. Victor couldn't hear what she said, but he could sense that Sophia was cursing at him!
She has quite the audacity.
Victor smiled beautifully, leaning back in his chair and lazily examining Sophia through the mirror. "Stand up."
"Why?" She didn't want to move.
"Where is the necklace?" Victor asked, pressing for an answer.
Subconsciously, Sophia touched her chest and explained, "That pendant is too expensive. I dare not wear it."
"Deduct a month's salary," Victor said coldly.
Sophia's face turned pale in fear and she quickly explained, "I brought it with me. I'll wear it now."
"Hurry up," Victor said coldly.
Sophia was reluctant!
The gemstone pendant was red, which matched her skin tone perfectly, but it was too dazzling. It was hard not to be noticed while wearing it.
Sophia's salary was definitely not enough to buy such an expensive piece of jewelry. However, under Victor's orders, she had no choice but to put on the pendant and bury her head in the table, afraid of being seen by others!
At this moment, she felt like a child who had done something wrong.
Victor was surprised to find that Sophia was somewhat cute. Realizing this thought, he wondered if he had gone mad.
Suddenly, a call came in on his phone. Victor glanced at the caller ID, frowned, and then hung up the internal line before picking up.
"Victor, are you free tonight?" Jessica asked cautiously.
"What's the matter?" Victor furrowed his brows.
"It's the weekend today. I invited some friends to come over to my place. You promised to come before. Did you forget?" Jessica said coyly, "I've invited close friends and some business partners. If you don't come, they'll laugh at me. I am already your woman. You wouldn't be so cruel to me, right?"
"Let's talk about this later."
Victor was very impatient and hung up the phone directly. He walked out of the office and commanded Sophia, "Prepare the meeting materials and bring them to me in five minutes."
Sophia didn't know why Victor was angry with her. She felt like Victor was scolding her. However, Sophia didn't dare to ask, so she nodded and followed Victor's footsteps.
Victor had been in meetings all afternoon, and Sophia's work hadn't stopped either.
During that time, Alice called Sophia several times, but she didn't have time to answer. After finally finishing her work, she called Alice back and asked, "How's it going? Did you get hold of Liam?"
Alice said, "When I went, Liam wasn't there. He went to the hospital because he was sick. However, when I went to the hospital to look for him, I didn't find him."
"Can't find him? Could something have happened to Liam?" Sophia asked anxiously.
Alice shook her head and said, "I don't think so. I heard there are adults taking care of him nearby."
Sophia couldn't help but worry. Even if there were people by Liam's side, they were only strangers without any blood relation. Taking care of a child can never be as thoughtful as a biological mother.
Moreover, Liam was so young and he had a bad cold. He definitely couldn't take care of himself.
After hanging up the phone, Sophia turned around and went into the office to pack her things.
Victor, coming out of the meeting room, saw this scene and raised an eyebrow, glancing at his watch. It wasn't time to leave yet. He asked, "Where are you going?"
"I need to take an hour off. I have something to attend to," Sophia said, handing the thick stack of files on the right to Victor. "Mr. Hastings, these are the materials you need for the next meeting. I've already prepared them for you."
"Did I tell you to leave?" Victor dangerously narrowed his eyes, filled with strong dissatisfaction.
Sophia didn't want to explain to him. "Mr. Hastings, I have to leave today."
"Fine, go ahead and try," Victor sneered. If Sophia dared to leave the company during work hours without his permission, he could deduct her salary!
He didn't believe Sophia would dare to do so.
However, Sophia silently picked up her bag and left right in front of Victor.
She didn't even look back, leaving at a fast pace. It was more like she ran away!
This was the first time Victor saw a panicked expression on Sophia's face. He felt that something must have happened and said to David, "Prepare the car."
"Mr. Hastings, are you going out?" David asked in surprise.
"Yes," Victor answered, looking thoughtful as he watched Sophia's retreating figure.
David, who had worked with Victor for many years, instantly understood what Victor intended to do. He quickly prepared the car and followed behind Sophia.
She walked quickly and got on a public bus right at the bus station downstairs of the company. David drove behind her and finally stopped at a hospital entrance.
"Strange. Why did Sophia come to the hospital?" David asked in confusion. "There's a hospital just one kilometer away from Aadelha Group. If she's not feeling well, she could have gone to the hospital near the company. Why did she come all the way to this hospital?"
Victor, sitting in the back seat, didn't say anything. He casually tapped his fingers on the car door as if contemplating. Then, he sharply looked at the words on the building of the hospital: Woerek Maternity and Childcare Hospital!
