Chapter 1271: A Slap in the Face!

Clare wasn't a doctor, but he had seen Sylvia handle patients with decisiveness and skill. Watching Mya's indecisive behavior, he couldn't help but feel a bit impatient and worried. Jakob held an important position in the Sky Division, and his illness could affect the upcoming drills.

"Dr. Hamilton, shouldn't you apply some medication first? Maybe some hemostatic medicine before stitching? I see the blood is still flowing," Clare suggested.

Mya was flustered as she tended to Jakob's forehead wound. "I need to check if he has a concussion! If it's serious, we'll have to send him to a major hospital."

"I see Jakob's foot is swollen. Could there be a bone injury?" Colin added with concern. "Dr. Hamilton, shouldn't you check his foot first?"

Hearing their comments, Mya, feeling a bit frustrated, put down her stitching tools. Her voice was gentle but carried a hint of petulance as she vented her dissatisfaction, "What do you want? Am I the doctor or are you? If you don't trust me, don't ask me to treat him."

"But you're the only doctor here, Dr. Hamilton. We didn't mean anything by it," Colin, a rough man who couldn't handle a woman's gentle complaints, quickly surrendered. "Please, take your time and make sure Jakob is well."

Mya pouted and let out a soft hum before resuming her treatment of Jakob.

Sylvia had been waiting for Clare but grew bored when he didn't return. After checking the signs, she headed straight to the infirmary.

Before she even stepped inside, she heard a piercing scream from afar.

Sylvia paused, wondering what had happened.

She quickened her pace and upon entering the infirmary, saw several men surrounding an injured man, trying to comfort him. Beside the injured man stood Mya, the doctor.

Sylvia squeezed through to see that the injured man's foot was swollen like a bun.

Mya was focused on stitching Jakob's wound and had applied anesthetic, but Jakob turned out to be resistant to it.

The anesthetic was wasted.

As soon as she inserted the needle, Jakob screamed in pain.

Hearing his cries of pain made Mya's heart ache, and she hesitated on how to proceed.

"Bear with it for a moment; it'll be over soon."

Just as she spoke, a cool female voice came from behind, "For someone resistant to anesthetics, stitching needs to be quick and precise. Your hesitation only increases the patient's suffering."

"You!" Mya turned to see Sylvia standing not far away with her hands in her pockets, looking at her coolly.

Mya's face turned red as she defended herself, "I'm afraid of hurting him, so I hesitate. A doctor should have compassion; you seem to lack any."

Sylvia nodded at her words. "I do feel sorry for him for having an unprofessional doctor."

"I'm a top graduate from Aettosa Capital City Medical University. I'm very professional!" Mya didn't want to be looked down upon and immediately flaunted her credentials.

"Then why aren't you working at City Central Hospital? As far as I know, Sabrina graduated from the same school and interned under an expert professor at H Rovirsa for about two years. Her professionalism is unquestionable," Sylvia said with a slight smirk. It wasn't that she had anything against Mya personally; it was just that Mya's pretentiousness annoyed her.

Mya's eyes reddened at Sylvia's sarcasm. She dropped her needle and pouted, "I'm not stitching anymore; you're too much!"

"You are indeed too much, leaving your patient in pain over a tantrum." Sylvia washed her hands and found a pair of clean surgical gloves before picking up the needle Mya had discarded. With swift precision, she stitched up Jakob's wound in no time.

Jakob hadn't even realized what happened...

He stared at Sylvia in disbelief for a moment before asking, "Is it done?" It was so fast! He hadn't felt any pain, just a slight prick like an ant bite. When Mya stitched earlier, it felt like the needle was digging and twisting painfully in his wound.

Everyone was equally astonished by Sylvia's skillful stitching-she was clearly an expert among experts.

Mya was stunned too. She had heard rumors about Sylvia but had never seen her skills firsthand. After graduating, Mya avoided hospital work due to fear of hardship and exhaustion, opting instead for positions like team doctor or unit medic where she rarely treated many patients or gained much clinical experience-just a diploma and medical license.

Sylvia tossed the needle and thread into the tray. "Yes!"

She didn't spare Mya another glance and proceeded to examine Jakob's injured foot.

Her fair fingers gently pressed around his swollen ankle before moving his foot slightly.

"Ouch! Ouch! It hurts!" Jakob cried out involuntarily. "It hurts so much!"

"It's a ligament sprain," Sylvia concluded after examining him. "Recovery typically takes three to four weeks. You'll need elastic bandage or plaster immobilization; local cold compresses or anti-inflammatory painkillers can help too. Elevating the limb is crucial for reducing swelling; active toe movements while elevating are necessary."

Her explanation was both professional and detailed.

Everyone understood immediately.

Jakob nodded quickly, "Thank you."

Wow, when did such a beautiful girl join the department? She's not only pretty but also kind-hearted and skilled.

Is she a new doctor in the infirmary?

As he pondered this, Clare praised her, "As expected, Sylvia is amazing. Her reputation as an excellent doctor isn't unfounded."

He patted Jakob on the shoulder. "You're lucky to have Sylvia treat you."

"... Sylvia? The one with so many fans?" Jakob almost stuttered in disbelief-what was going on!

To have Sylvia treat his minor injury seemed like overkill!

Aren't renowned doctors supposed to handle complex surgeries and difficult cases?

Mya watched enviously as this unfolded.

It should have been her moment to shine, but instead it became Sylvia's spotlight.

She regretted it deeply-if only she hadn't thrown down the needle in frustration earlier; then she'd be receiving all the praise now.

So frustrating.

"Alright then; since Sylvia has treated your injury well enough for now," Clare said as he prepared to leave with others.

Jakob quickly interjected, "Dr. Sylvia hasn't prescribed my medication yet! What's the rush?"

Before Sylvia could respond, Mya eagerly suggested, "You can take some blood-activating medicine along with anti-inflammatory drugs to alleviate swelling and pain."

"He can't take blood-activating medicine right now because of his head wound," Sylvia calmly corrected Mya. "But anti-inflammatory medication is essential."

With that said, she picked up a prescription pad from the table and wrote out a prescription before handing it over to Mya. "Follow this prescription when dispensing his medication-the dosage instructions are on each package; just follow them accordingly."

Mya wished she could find a hole to hide in from embarrassment.

She had intended to show off but ended up being overshadowed by Sylvia again.

Damn it-was Sylvia deliberately trying to undermine her?

Jakob looked at Sylvia with admiration. "Dr. Sylvia, you're amazing! I'll make sure to take my medication on time."

Colin and others chimed in with praise as well: "Impressive! Miss Andrews is truly remarkable."

"Makes me want to get sick just so Miss Andrews can treat me too."

"Get outta here! You're just being cheeky!"

Everyone laughed as they left the infirmary without paying any attention to Mya.

This stark contrast from when Mya first arrived, where she was showered with attention by these men, left her feeling unfulfilled now that Sylvia had stolen her thunder.

After leaving the infirmary, Sylvia and Clare headed to the dormitory. The Sky Division had a dedicated dormitory building, and each member was assigned a small apartment-one bedroom, one living room, and one bathroom. It was more than enough for daily living and very convenient.

Sylvia's apartment was next to Colin's, and Colin's was next to Clare's. Mya also lived on the same floor.

Clare opened the apartment door. "It's not as comfortable as home, but it has everything you need for daily life."

Sylvia stepped inside and began looking around. The small apartment was about fifty square meters, with a bedroom, a bathroom, a living room, a wardrobe, and a desk. The furniture was quite complete, and the place was spotless.

"I cleaned up in advance to welcome you," Clare said, pointing to the wardrobe. "Your uniform is in there. You can try it on to see if the size fits."

Sylvia nodded. "Alright."

Clare stepped out to give her privacy, standing in the hallway.

Colin poked his head out and looked at him. "Why'd you come out?"

"My girl's trying on her uniform!" Clare glared at him. "You wouldn't understand what it's like to have a daughter at home."

"Like she's your own daughter," Colin scoffed.
