Chapter 1268: I Just Hate Him!
The woman slowly crouched in front of Y, gripping her chin and forcing her to look up. "Tell me, what did that girl say to you when she helped you today?"
Y looked at her with pained eyes, her voice trembling as she replied, "Nothing... nothing was said. I didn't say anything."
"Good. This time, I'll give you the Vinegar Fire. It's always a special treat to swallow your own creation, isn't it?" The woman in high heels laughed arrogantly, leisurely shaking the small packet of Vinegar Fire in her hand. "Oh, this stuff is quite valuable; it's made me a lot of money."
"Remember to behave better in the future. Otherwise, you'll face the consequences." She tossed the packet of Vinegar Fire at Y's feet and turned to leave.
Y reached out with her frail hands, grabbed the packet, quickly tore it open, and threw its contents into her mouth.
Moments later, she slowly closed her eyes, her expression shifting from pain to blissful ecstasy, as if she were floating in a dream.
She envisioned her two daughters, growing into beautiful and adorable young girls.
"Sylvia... did you bring your sister to pick up Mom?"
"Sylvia..."
Tears rolled down her cheeks as she closed her eyes, suffering like a lifeless branch stripped of life, curled up by the window.
A sleepless night.
The morning rain fell steadily, carrying a faint chill in the air.
The humidity was high, so Sylvia dressed Alex in a thick coat before taking him downstairs for breakfast.
Queena and Jasmine were chatting at the dining table. "Yesterday, Sylvia and Franklin were at the scene; they must have seen Master Y."
"This Master Y is truly legendary. I saw pictures in the news; she looks so thin and frail," Jasmine remarked with some regret. She and her husband Giancarlo were both esteemed research scholars and greatly admired Master Y, who was also a prominent researcher.
Queena appeared equally regretful. "I never expected her to be such a fragile woman."
Jasmine sighed, "I don't know if I'm overthinking it, but I feel Lucille hasn't treated her with respect. Her health is poor! It's one thing for researchers to have declining health due to long hours in the lab, but daily life should be better."
As they chatted animatedly, Sylvia arrived with her child.
"Awake? Alex." Jasmine waved at Alex. "I made your favorite sandwiches for breakfast; come over."
Alex obediently ran over and sat next to Jasmine. "Good morning."
"What are you talking about?" Sylvia sat down and glanced at the breakfast spread-a table full of nutritious Chinese dishes.
Since Alex came into their lives, the family paid more attention to nutrition and health.
It was all for the sake of helping the child grow up healthier.
"Sylvia, yesterday you helped Master Y; how did it feel?" Queena asked curiously. She couldn't be blamed for being nosy; Master Y was simply too mysterious.
At this moment, they couldn't possibly imagine that the renowned Master Y was actually Madeleine from their Hipps Family.
They chatted as if discussing gossip about someone else.
"She is very frail, and her health isn't good," Sylvia hesitated before looking at Queena and Jasmine. "And she..."
Sylvia then shared what she had seen-the electronic shackles on Y's feet.
"Are there really electronic shackles as you described?" Queena was shocked. "If that's true, Master Y is truly pitiful. With Lucille's cruelty, she's surely been subjected to inhumane treatment."
Jasmine instinctively grasped Sylvia's hands, her voice urgent. "You and Franklin should investigate where she's being held. If she's truly imprisoned and deprived of freedom, it's too tragic. Sylvia, if it weren't for you and Franklin back then, my husband and I would have been persecuted by ZZ organization."
Jasmine's gentle eyes glistened with tears. "Thanks to you two, we reconciled with our family and reunited."
Sylvia gently patted Jasmine's hand to comfort her. "I understand. Franklin and I will keep an eye on Y's situation. Hopefully, it's not as we fear... After all, someone so talented should be treated kindly by the world."
"Sylvia, tomorrow is the Sky Division combat exercise. Are you going to report there with your uncle?" Queena asked while wiping Alex's mouth.
Sylvia smiled as she looked at Clare and his wife coming downstairs with their baby. "Yes, the time for the combat exercise has finally arrived. Tomorrow I'll go to Sky Division with my uncle; we're planning to be on opposing teams and devise different strategies. Uncle will have to be ready!"
"Devise strategies? How do you plan to deal with me?" Clare laughed heartily. "I'm a veteran of Sky Division; you're just a rookie."
"You'll find out tomorrow whether I'm bluffing," Sylvia said playfully as she took the baby from Mollie's arms.
The baby had grown strong recently-chubby with a plump little face.
He could already smile; whenever Sylvia played with him, he laughed, revealing a faint dimple on his cheek.
Simply adorable.
After breakfast, Alex went to kindergarten while Sylvia headed upstairs.
Yesterday, when she helped Master Y up, she discreetly set a tracking spell. However, she was puzzled when the spell failed after Master Y's vehicle left the city.
Someone had unknowingly broken it.
This indicated that Lucille had someone skilled in mystical arts by her side-someone who could easily detect and neutralize her spell.
Sylvia sat at her computer and began contacting her partners from "Hidden and Great."
"How's it going? Alby, did you find anything?" Sylvia directly messaged Alby, who quickly replied, "Master Y's whereabouts are a mystery; Lucille has protected her too well-airtight."
Sylvia swiftly typed on the keyboard. "Wasn't there video communication tracking when Lucille made a call? Did we track anything then?"
She had set up a plan with her partners to assist her; she and Vaughn caused disruptions at the scene while their partners tracked any actions Lucille took.
"Lucille was extremely cautious; when we tried hacking to track them, they detected us and counter-tracked us. We had no choice but to cut off our tracking," Alby replied helplessly. "Lucille has money and many talented individuals around her. Rescuing Master Y will be a tough battle."
"The most important thing now is finding where Master Y is being held; unfortunately, all our tracking attempts have failed," Big Head chimed in. "Yesterday our cars tracking Master Y were also shaken off; their driving skills were top-notch with strong counter-tracking abilities."
Chad couldn't help but complain, "How can Lucille be so fierce? Are women these days all so formidable?"
Seeing everyone's lack of confidence, Alby quickly encouraged them. "Alright, enough complaining; let's get to work. Everyone do your part so we can rescue Master Y soon."
Sylvia said no more and closed the group chat.
Her gaze fell on the Puppet Crystal; an audacious thought crossed her mind-could this Puppet Crystal also be... developed by Master Y?
And Vinegar Fire-it was rumored to have originated from ZZ organization. Consuming Vinegar Fire led to dependency and euphoria but caused countless families to break apart-a globally banned substance.
She began searching online for any information about Master Y.
But there was little-mostly media reports with hardly any useful information.
She couldn't help but recall the robot from that day; she had hacked into its program then-perhaps she could do so again to see if Master Y left any clues?
With this thought in mind, she began typing rapidly on her computer keyboard.
Cloud Restaurant.
Isaac entered a private room with several half-brothers.
He couldn't be blamed for stirring things up; the president was eager for them to appear harmonious together.
He also tried to rally some brothers to his side since it was crucial for inheriting the presidency-each ally counted as support.
"Isaac, I say we brothers should gather without inviting Franklin. He's always so arrogant-who does he think he is?" Noah said casually as he sat down and scanned everyone with crossed legs.
He was second in line; Franklin was third; below them were Jaydon fourth and Nick fifth. The president had many illegitimate children-only Franklin was born to his legal wife while others were born to mistresses.
Noah and Nick were full brothers from the same mother.
Both brothers got along well with Isaac while Jaydon sided with Franklin.
Since Jaydon and Franklin hadn't arrived yet, Noah spoke freely without concern.
Nick couldn't help but caution his brother when he started mouthing off again. "Noah, keep your voice down."
"What are you afraid of? What's wrong? I just hate him-everyone knows it." Noah said boldly.
